Abstract:We prove a formula for the involutive concordance invariants of the cabled knots in terms of that of the companion knot and the pattern knot. As a consequence, we show that any iterated cable of a knot with parameters of the form (odd,1) is not smoothly slice as long as either of the involutive concordance invariants of the knot is nonzero. Our formula also gives new bounds for the unknotting number of a cabled knot, which are sometimes stronger than other known bounds coming from knot Floer homology.

Abstract:We construct a filtered mapping cone formula that computes the knot Floer complex of the $(n,1)$--cable of the knot meridian in any rational surgery, generalizing Truong's result about the $(n,1)$--cable of the knot meridian in large surgery and Hedden-Levine's filtered mapping cone formula. As an application, we show that there exist knots in integer homology spheres with arbitrary $\varphi_{i,j}$ values for any $i>j\geq 0$, where $\varphi_{i,j}$ are the concordance homomorphisms defined by Dai-Hom-Stoffregen-Truong.

Abstract:This is a companion paper to earlier work of the author, which generalizes to an infinite family of (2,2w+1) -cabling of the figure eight knot ( |w|>3 ) and proposes general formulas for the two-variable series invariant of the family of the cable knots. The formulas provide an insight into the cabling operation. We verify the conjecture through explicit examples using the recursion method, which also provide a strong evidence for the q -holonomic property of the series invariant. This result paves a road for computation of the WRT invariant of a 3-manifold obtained from a Dehn surgery on the cable knots via a certain q -series. We also analyze and conjecture formulas for (3,3w+1) -cabling ( |w|>3 ).

Abstract:We prove that the $(2n,1)$-cable of the figure-eight knot is not smoothly slice when $n$ is odd, by using the real Seiberg-Witten Frøyshov invariant of Konno-Miyazawa-Taniguchi. For the computation, we develop an $O(2)$-equivariant version of the lattice homotopy type, originally introduced by Dai-Sasahira-Stoffregen. This enables us to compute the real Seiberg-Witten Floer homotopy type for a certain class of knots. Additionally, we present some computations of Miyazawa's real framed Seiberg-Witten invariant for 2-knots.

Abstract:We study the equivariant concordance classes of two-bridge knots, providing an easy formula to compute their butterfly polynomial, and we give two different proofs that no two-bridge knot is equivariantly slice. Finally, we introduce a new invariant of equivariant concordance for strongly invertible knots. Using this invariant as an obstruction we strengthen the result on two-bridge knots, proving that their equivariant concordance order is always infinite.

Abstract:We study the Ozsváth-Szabó-Thurston transverse invariant in combinatorial link Floer homology for certain transverse cables $\mathscr{L}_{p,q}$ of transverse link $L$ in $S^3$. Transverse cables $\mathscr{L}_{p,q}$ are constructed from the grid diagram of $L$. The main result is $\hat{\theta}(\mathscr{L}_{p,q})=0$ if and only if $\hat{\theta}(L)=0$ for $\frac{q}{p}$ sufficiently large. We also prove a similar result for invariants of Legendrian knots. Our proof uses an inclusion map $i$ of certain grid complexes associated to $L$ and $L_{p,q}$. We use these results to generate many infinite families of examples of Legendrian and transversely non-simple topological link types.

Abstract:In this paper we will show how to classify Legendrian and transverse knots in the knot type of “sufficiently positive” cables of a knot in terms of the classification of the underlying knot. We will also completely explain the phenomena of “Legendrian large” cables. These are Legendrian representatives of cables that have Thurston–Bennequin invariant larger than the framing coming from the cabling torus. Such examples have only recently, and unexpectedly, been found. We will also give criteria that determines the classification of Legendrian and transverse knots the knot type of negative cables.

Abstract:Given an involution on a rational homology 3-sphere Y with quotient the 3-sphere, we prove a formula for the Lefschetz number of the map induced by this involution in the reduced monopole Floer homology. This formula is motivated by a variant of Witten's conjecture relating the Donaldson and Seiberg–Witten invariants of 4-manifolds. A key ingredient is a skein-theoretic argument, making use of an exact triangle in monopole Floer homology, that computes the Lefschetz number in terms of the Murasugi signature of the branch set and the sum of Frøyshov invariants associated to spin structures on Y. We discuss various applications of our formula in gauge theory, knot theory, contact geometry, and 4-dimensional topology.
Equivariant algebraic concordance of strongly invertible knots

Abstract:By considering a particular type of invariant Seifert surfaces we define a homomorphism $\Phi$ from the (topological) equivariant concordance group of directed strongly invertible knots $\widetilde{\mathcal{C}}$ to a new equivariant algebraic concordance group $\widetilde{\mathcal{G}}^{\mathbb{Z}}$. We prove that $\Phi$ lifts both Miller and Powell's equivariant algebraic concordance homomorphism, and Alfieri and Boyle's equivariant signature. Moreover, we provide a partial result on the isomorphism type of $\widetilde{\mathcal{G}}^{\mathbb{Z}}$, and we obtain a new obstruction to equivariant sliceness, which can be viewed as an equivariant Fox-Milnor condition. We define new equivariant signatures and using these we obtain novel lower bounds on the equivariant slice genus. Finally, we show that $\Phi$ can obstruct equivariant sliceness for knots with Alexander polynomial one.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the variation of the Turaev--Viro invariants for $3$-manifolds with toroidal boundary under the operation of attaching a $(p,q)$-cable space. We apply our results to a conjecture of Chen and Yang which relates the asymptotics of the Turaev--Viro invariants to the simplicial volume of a compact oriented $3$-manifold. For $p$ and $q$ coprime, we show that the Chen--Yang volume conjecture is stable under $\left(p,q\right)$-cabling. We achieve our results by studying the linear operator $RT_r$ associated to the torus knot cable spaces by the Reshetikhin--Turaev $SO_3$-Topological Quantum Field Theory (TQFT), where the TQFT is well-known to be closely related to the desired Turaev--Viro invariants. In particular, our utilized method relies on the invertibility of the linear operator for which we provide necessary and sufficient conditions.

Abstract:We study the homology concordance group of knots in integer homology three-spheres which bound integer homology four-balls. Using knot Floer homology, we construct an infinite number of $\mathbb{Z}$-valued, linearly independent homology concordance homomorphisms which vanish for knots coming from $S^3$. This shows that the homology concordance group modulo knots coming from $S^3$ contains an infinite-rank summand. The techniques used here generalize the classification program established in previous papers regarding the local equivalence group of knot Floer complexes over $\mathbb{F}[U, V]/(UV)$. Our results extend this approach to complexes defined over a broader class of rings.

Abstract:We define several equivariant concordance invariants using knot Floer homology. We show that our invariants provide a lower bound for the equivariant slice genus and use this to give a family of strongly invertible slice knots whose equivariant slice genus grows arbitrarily large, answering a question of Boyle and Issa. We also apply our formalism to several seemingly non-equivariant questions. In particular, we show that knot Floer homology can be used to detect exotic pairs of slice disks, recovering an example due to Hayden, and extend a result due to Miller and Powell regarding stabilization distance. Our formalism suggests a possible route towards establishing the non-commutativity of the equivariant concordance group.

Abstract:We continue our study of the degree of the colored Jones polynomial under knot cabling started in "Knot Cabling and the Degree of the Colored Jones Polynomial" (<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1501.01574" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1501.01574">arXiv:1501.01574</a>). Under certain hypothesis on this degree, we determine how the Jones slopes and the linear term behave under cabling. As an application we verify Garoufalidis' Slope Conjecture and a conjecture of the authors for cables of a two-parameter family of closed 3-braids called 2-fusion knots.

The homotopy cardinality of the representation category for a Legendrian knot

Abstract:Given a Legendrian knot in $(\mathbb{R}^3, \ker(dz-ydx))$ one can assign a combinatorial invariants called ruling polynomials. These invariants have been shown to recover not only a (normalized) count of augmentations but are also closely related to a categorical count of augmentations in the form of the homotopy cardinality of the augmentation category. In this article, we prove that that the homotopy cardinality of the $n$-dimensional representation category is a multiple of the $n$-colored ruling polynomial. Along the way, we establish that two $n$-dimensional representations are equivalent in the representation category if they are conjugate DGA homotopic. We also provide some applications to Lagrangian concordance.
