Abstract:We totally classify the projective toric varieties whose canonical divisors are divisible by their dimensions. In Appendix, we show that Reid's toric Mori theory implies Mabuchi's characterization of the projective space for toric varieties.

Abstract:For every complete toric variety, there exists a projective toric variety which is isomorphic to it in codimension one. In this paper, we show that every smooth non-projective complete toric threefold of Picard number at most five becomes projective after a finite succession of flops or anti-flips.

Abstract:We use presentations of the Cox rings of projectivized toric vector bundles and elements of matroid theory to compute Newton-Okounkov bodies, effective cones, and nef cones of these spaces. As an application we analyze the Fano property and establish Fujita's freeness and ampleness conjectures for several classes of projectivized toric vector bundles.

Abstract:In this paper, the concept of toric difference varieties is defined and four equivalent descriptions for toric difference varieties are presented in terms of difference rational parametrization, difference coordinate rings, toric difference ideals, and group actions by difference tori. Connections between toric difference varieties and affine N[x]-semimodules are established by proving the correspondence between the irreducible invariant difference subvarieties and the faces of the N[x]-submodules and the orbit-face correspondence. Finally, an algorithm is given to decide whether a binomial difference ideal represented by a Z[x]-lattice defines a toric difference variety.

Abstract:Let n be an even natural number. We compute the periods of any n 2 -dimensional complete intersection algebraic cycle inside an n-dimensional non-degenerated intersection of a projective simplicial toric variety. Using this information we determine the cycle class of such algebraic cycles. As part of the proof we develop a toric generalization of a classical theorem of Macaulay about complete intersection Artin Gorenstein rings, and we generalize an algebraic cup formula for residue forms due to Carlson and Griffiths to the toric setting.

Abstract:Let $W$ be a finite group generated by reflections of a lattice $M$. If a lattice polytope $P \subset M \otimes_{\mathbb Z}\mathbb R$ is preserved by $W$, then we show that the quotient of the projective toric variety $X_P$ by $W$ is isomorphic to the toric variety $X_{P \cap D}$, where $D$ is a fundamental domain for the action of $W$. This answers a question of Horiguchi-Masuda-Shareshian-Song, and recovers results of Blume, of the second author, and of Gui-Hu-Liu.

Abstract:In this paper we describe the notion of a toric supervariety, generalizing that of a toric variety from the classical setting. We give a combinatorial interpretation of the category of quasinormal toric supervarieties with one odd dimension using decorated polyhedral fans. We then use this interpretation to calculate some invariants of these supervarieties and extract geometric information from them.

Abstract:Potentials of the heat conduction operator constructed by means of 2 binary Backlund transformations are studied in detail. Abstract:In this paper we introduce toric rings of multicomplexes. We show how to compute the divisor class group and the class of the canonical module when the toric ring is normal. In the special case that the multicomplex is a discrete polymatroid, its toric ring is studied deeply for several classes of polymatroids.

Abstract:We construct a new family of toric manifolds generating the unitary bordism ring. Each manifold in the family is the complex projectivisation of the sum of a line bundle and a trivial bundle over a complex projective space. We also construct a family of special unitary quasitoric manifolds which contains polynomial generators of the special unitary bordism ring with 2 inverted in dimensions >8. Each manifold in the latter family is obtained from an iterated complex projectivisation of a sum of line bundles by amending the complex structure to make the first Chern class vanish.
Locally Trivial Deformations of Toric Varieties

Abstract:We study locally trivial deformations of toric varieties from a combinatorial point of view. For any fan $\Sigma$, we construct a deformation functor $\mathrm{Def}_\Sigma$ by considering Čech zero-cochains on certain simplicial complexes. We show that under appropriate hypotheses, $\mathrm{Def}_\Sigma$ is isomorphic to $\mathrm{Def}'_{X_\Sigma}$, the functor of locally trivial deformations for the toric variety $X_\Sigma$ associated to $\Sigma$. In particular, for any complete toric variety $X$ that is smooth in codimension $2$ and $\mathbb{Q}$-factorial in codimension $3$, there exists a fan $\Sigma$ such that $\mathrm{Def}_\Sigma$ is isomorphic to $\mathrm{Def}_X$, the functor of deformations of $X$. We apply these results to give a new criterion for a smooth complete toric variety to have unobstructed deformations, and to compute formulas for higher order obstructions, generalizing a formula of Ilten and Turo for the cup product. We use the functor $\mathrm{Def}_\Sigma$ to explicitly compute the deformation spaces for a number of toric varieties, and provide examples exhibiting previously unobserved phenomena. In particular, we classify exactly which toric threefolds arising as iterated $\mathbb{P}^1$-bundles have unobstructed deformation space.

Abstract:In this paper, we classify smooth, contractible affine varieties equipped with faithful torus actions of complexity two, having a unique fixed point and a two-dimensional algebraic quotient isomorphic to a toric blow-up of a toric surface. These varieties are of particular interest as they represent the simplest candidates for potential counterexamples to the linearization conjecture in affine geometry.

This is based on the equivariant Riemann-Roch theorem and the computation of the equivariant cohomology and equivariant homology of toric varieties.

Abstract:In this paper, we delve into the study of deformations of an algebraic divisor that maintains a Kobayashi hyperbolic embedding, which is a more potent concept than Kobayashi hyperbolicity, particularly in the context of toric geometry. We establish that, for a projective toric variety denoted as $X$, it is possible to identify a Zariski closed subset within the linear system of the divisor $D.$ such that, for a torus $T_N$ residing inside $X$, the mapping from $T_N \setminus D$ to $X$ constitutes a Kobayashi hyperbolic embedding when $D$ lies outside the mentioned Zariski closed subset. Furthermore, our investigation extends to the case where an algebraic divisor $D$ is a combination of $n+1$ hyperplanes and a hypersurface of degree $n$ within $\mathbb{P}^n$. When $\mathbb{P}^n \setminus D$ is already Kobayashi hyperbolically embedded within $\mathbb{P}^n,$ we demonstrate that it is possible to deform the degree $n$ hypersurface while retaining its hyperbolicity. Additionally, we explore a deformation process that preserves hyperbolicity, with the parameter residing within $\mathbb{P}^1 \setminus E,$ where $E$ represents a finite set.

Abstract:In this paper, the concepts of binomial difference ideals and toric difference varieties are defined and their properties are proved. Two canonical representations for Laurent binomial difference ideals are given using the reduced Groebner basis of Z[x]-lattices and regular and coherent difference ascending chains, respectively. Criteria for a Laurent binomial difference ideal to be reflexive, prime, well-mixed, perfect, and toric are given in terms of their support lattices which are Z[x]-lattices. The reflexive, well-mixed, and perfect closures of a Laurent binomial difference ideal are shown to be binomial. Four equivalent definitions for toric difference varieties are presented. Finally, algorithms are given to check whether a given Laurent binomial difference ideal I is reflexive, prime, well-mixed, perfect, or toric, and in the negative case, to compute the reflexive, well-mixed, and perfect closures of I. An algorithm is given to decompose a finitely generated perfect binomial difference ideal as the intersection of reflexive prime binomial difference ideals.
