Abstract:This review article explains the fundamental idea, basic theories, desired properties, and material realizations of superconductors in a pedagogical manner. Organic superconductors, Metallic superconductors, magnetic superconductors, oxides without copper, heavy fermions, pyrochlore oxides, ruthenocuprates, rare-earth borocarbides, high-temperature superconductors, carbon (C) superconductors, chalcogens, silicon (Si) superconductors, germanium (Ge) based superconductors and related compounds are among the classification of superconductors. This review paper will provide a short outline of different superconducting materials that have been found up until now, trailed by a conversation about why not many have become commercially viable. An outline of current and potential future applications will be introduced, alongside remarks on the difficulties of commercialization and innovative progressions required. Our primary focus is on superconductors based on Si, Ge, and C.
