Abstract:We develop a general classification theory for Brumer's dihedral quintic polynomials by means of Kummer theory arising from certain elliptic curves. We also give a similar theory for cubic polynomials.

Abstract:Kida, Rikuna and Sato [KRS10] developed a classification theory for Brumer's quintic polynomials via Kummer theory arising from associated elliptic curves. We generalize their results to elliptic curves associated to Lecacheux's quintic $F_{20}$-polynomials instead of Brumer's quintic $D_5$-polynomials.

Abstract:We construct a global B-model for any quasi-homogeneous polynomial f that has properties similar to the properties of the physic's B-model on a Calabi-Yau manifold. The main ingredients in our construction are K. Saito's theory of primitive forms and Givental's higher genus reconstruction. More precisely, we consider the moduli space M-mar degrees of the so-called marginal deformations of f . For each point sigma is an element of M-mam degrees mar we introduce the notion of an opposite subspace in the twisted de Rham cohomology of the corresponding singularity f(sigma) and prove that opposite subspaces are in one-to-one correspondence with the splittings of the Hodge structure in the vanishing cohomology of f(sigma). Therefore, according to M. Saito, an opposite subspace gives rise to a semi-simple Frobenius structure on the space of miniversal deformations of f(sigma). Using Givental's higher genus reconstruction we define a total ancestor potential A(sigma) ((h) over bar, q) whose properties can be described quite elegantly in terms of the properties of the corresponding opposite subspace. For example, if the opposite subspace corresponds to the splitting of the Hodge structure given by complex conjugation, then the total ancestor potential is monodromy invariant and it satisfies the BCOV holomorphic anomaly equations. The coefficients of the total ancestor potential could be viewed as quasi-modular forms on M-Mar degrees in a certain generalized sense. As an application of our construction, we consider the case of a Fermat polynomial W that defines a Calabi-Yau hypersurface X-w in a weighted-projective space. We have constructed two opposite subspaces and proved that the corresponding total ancestor potentials can be identified with respectively the total ancestor potential of the orbifold quotient X-W/(G) over tilde (W) and the total ancestor potential of FJRW invariants corresponding to (W, G(W)). Here G(W) is the maximal group of diagonal symmetries of W and (G) over tilde (W) is a quotient of G(W) by the subgroup of those elements that act trivially on X-W. In particular, our result establishes the so-called Landau-Ginzburg/Calabi-Yau correspondence for the pair (W, G(W)).

Abstract:We prove that the Gromov-Hausdorff compactification of the moduli space of Kahler-Einstein Del Pezzo surfaces in each degree agrees with certain algebro-geometric compactification. In particular, this recovers Tian's theorem on the existence of Kahler-Einstein metrics on smooth Del Pezzo surfaces and classifies all the degenerations of such metrics. The proof is based on a combination of both algebraic and differential geometric techniques.

Abstract:We provide a complete classification of Teichmüller curves occurring in hyperelliptic components of the meromorphic strata of differentials. Using a non-existence criterion based on how Teichmüller curves intersect the boundary of the moduli space we derive a contradiction to the algebraicity of any candidate outside of Hurwitz covers of strata with projective dimension one and Hurwitz covers of zero residue loci in strata with projective dimension two.

Abstract:We describe the invariants of plane quartic curves -- nonhyperelliptic genus 3 curves in their canonical model -- as determined by Dixmier and Ohno, with application to the classification of curves with given structure. In particular, we determine modular equations for the strata in the moduli space $\Me_3$ of plane quartics which have at least seven hyperflexes, and obtain an computational characterization of curves in these strata.

Abstract:We prove two structure theorems for the Gromov-Witten theory of the quintic threefolds, which together give an effective algorithm for the all genus Gromov-Witten potential functions of quintics. By using these structure theorems, we prove Yamaguchi-Yau's Polynomial Ring Conjecture in this paper and prove Bershadsky-Cecotti-Ooguri-Vafa's Feynman rule conjecture in the subsequent paper.

Classification of branched Willmore spheres

Abstract:Given a branched Willmore immersion from a closed Riemann surface, we show that Bryant's quartic is holomorphic. Consequently, this quartic vanishes when the underlying surface is a sphere and we obtain the full classification of branched Willmore spheres. To do so, we show that the asymptotic expansion in the $C^2$-topology of the conformal Gauss map at a branched point is a null straight line.

Abstract:We present a method to calculate the action of the Mordell-Weil group of an elliptic K3 surface on the numerical Néron-Severi lattice of the K3 surface. As an application, we compute a finite generating set of the automorphism group of a K3 surface birational to the double plane branched along a 6-cuspidal sextic curve of torus type.

Abstract:Conditionally on a conjecture on the étale cohomology of Hilbert modular surfaces and some minor technical assumptions, we establish new instances of the equivariant BSD-conjecture in rank $0$ with applications to the arithmetic of rational elliptic curves over quintic fields. The key ingredients are a refinement of twisted triple product $p$-adic $L$-functions, the construction of a compatible collection of Hirzebruch-Zagier cycles and an explicit reciprocity law relating the two.

Abstract:It is known that the moduli space of plane quartic curves is birational to an arithmetic quotient of a 6-dimensional complex ball. In this paper, we shall show that there exists a 15-dimensional space of meromorphic automorphic forms on the complex ball which gives a birational embedding of the moduli space of plane quartics with level 2 structure into 14-dimensional projective space. This map coincides with the one given by Coble by using Gopel invariants.

Abstract:We study the virtual geometry of the moduli spaces of curves and sheaves on K3 surfaces in primitive classes. Equivalences relating the reduced Gromov-Witten invariants of K3 surfaces to characteristic numbers of stable pairs moduli spaces are proven. As a consequence, we prove the Katz-Klemm-Vafa conjecture evaluating $\lambda_g$ integrals (in all genera) in terms of explicit modular forms. Indeed, all K3 invariants in primitive classes are shown to be governed by modular forms. The method of proof is by degeneration to elliptically fibered rational surfaces. New formulas relating reduced virtual classes on K3 surfaces to standard virtual classes after degeneration are needed for both maps and sheaves. We also prove a Gromov-Witten/Pairs correspondence for toric 3-folds. Our approach uses a result of Kiem and Li to produce reduced classes. In Appendix A, we answer a number of questions about the relationship between the Kiem-Li approach, traditional virtual cycles, and symmetric obstruction theories. The interplay between the boundary geometry of the moduli spaces of curves, K3 surfaces, and modular forms is explored in Appendix B by A. Pixton.

Abstract:We study the geometry and arithmetic of the curves $C \colon y^3 = x^4 + ax^2 + b$ and their associated Prym abelian surfaces $P$. We prove a Torelli theorem in this context and give a geometric proof of the fact that $P$ has quaternionic multiplication (QM) by the quaternion order of discriminant $6$. This allows us to describe the Galois action on the geometric endomorphism algebra of $P$. As an application, we classify the torsion subgroups of the Mordell-Weil groups $P(\mathbb{Q})$, as both abelian groups and $\text{End}(P)$-modules.

Abstract:We prove that a hyper-Kähler fourfold satisfying a mild topological assumption is of K3$^{[2]}$ deformation type. This proves in particular a conjecture of O'Grady stating that hyper-Kähler fourfolds of K3$^{[2]}$ numerical type are of K3$^{[2]}$ deformation type. Our topological assumption concerns the existence of two integral degree-2 cohomology classes satisfying certain numerical intersection conditions. There are two main ingredients in the proof. We first prove a topological version of the statement, by showing that our topological assumption forces the Betti numbers, the Fujiki constant, and the Huybrechts-Riemann-Roch polynomial of the hyper-Kähler fourfold to be the same as those of K3$^{[2]}$ hyper-Kähler fourfolds. The key part of the article is then to prove the hyper-Kähler SYZ conjecture for hyper-Kähler fourfolds for divisor classes satisfying the numerical condition mentioned above.

Abstract:A generalized Kummer surface $X=Km_{3}(A,G_{A})$ is the minimal resolution of the quotient of a $2$-dimensional complex torus by an order 3 symplectic automorphism group $G_{A}$. A Kummer structure on $X$ is an isomorphism class of pairs $(B,G_{B})$ such that $X\simeq Km_{3}(B,G_{B})$. When the surface is algebraic, we obtain that the number of Kummer structures is linked with the number of order $3$ elliptic points on some Shimura curve naturally related to $A$. For each $n\in\mathbb{N}$, we obtain generalized Kummer surfaces $X_{n}$ for which the number of Kummer structures is $2^{n}$. We then give a classification of the moduli spaces of generalized Kummer surfaces. When the surface is non algebraic, there is only one Kummer structure, but the number of irreducible components of the moduli spaces of such surfaces is large compared to the algebraic case. The endomorphism rings of the complex $2$-tori we study are mainly quaternion orders, these order contain the ring of Eisenstein integers. One can also see this paper as a study of quaternion orders $\mathcal{O}$ over $\mathbb{Q}$ that contain the ring of Eisenstein integers. We obtain that such order is determined up to isomorphism by its discriminant, and when the quaternion algebra is indefinite, the order $\mathcal{O}$ is principal.

Abstract:Let $\mathbf{M}^{\alpha}(d,\chi)$ be the moduli space of $\alpha$-stable pairs $(s,F)$ on the projective plane $\mathbb{P}^2$ with Hilbert polynomial $\chi(F(m))=dm+\chi$. For sufficiently large $\alpha$ (denoted by $\infty$), it is well known that the moduli space is isomorphic to the relative Hilbert scheme of points over the universal degree $d$ plane curves. For the general $(d,\chi)$, the relative Hilbert scheme does not have a bundle structure over the Hilbert scheme of points. In this paper, as the first non trivial such a case, we study the wall crossing of the $\alpha$-stable pairs space when $(d,\chi)=(5,2)$. As a direct corollary, by combining with Bridgeland wall crossing of the moduli space of stable sheaves, we compute the virtual Poincaré polynomial of $\mathbf{M}^{\infty}(5,2)$.

Abstract:New historical aspects of the classification, by Cayley and Cremona, of ruled quartic surfaces and the relation to string models and plaster models are presented. In a `modern' treatment of the classification of ruled quartic surfaces the classical one is corrected and completed. A conceptual proof is presented of a result of Rohn concerning curves in $\mathbb{P}^1\times \mathbb{P}^1$ of bi-degree $(2,2)$. The string models of Series XIII (of some ruled quartic surfaces) are based on Rohn's result.

Abstract:An element in the Brauer group of a general complex projective $K3$ surface $S$ defines a sublattice of the transcendental lattice of $S$. We consider those elements of prime order for which this sublattice is Hodge-isometric to the transcendental lattice of another K3 surface $X$. We recall that this defines a finite map between moduli spaces of polarized K3 surfaces and we compute its degree. We show how the Picard lattice of $X$ determines the Picard lattice of $S$ in the case that the Picard number of $X$ is two.

Abstract:We determine the structure of the graded ring of Siegel modular forms of degree 3. It is generated by 19 modular forms, among which we identify a homogeneous system of parameters with 7 forms of weights 4, 12, 12, 14, 18, 20 and 30. We also give a complete dictionary between the Dixmier-Ohno invariants of ternary quartics and the above generators.
