Abstract:We show that any graph, in the sequence given by Haagerup in 1991 as that of candidates of principal graphs of subfactors, is not realized as a principal graph except for the smallest two. This settles the remaining case of a previous work of the first author.

Abstract:An H-n-factor of a graph G is defined to be a spanning sub-graph F of G such that each vertex has a degree belonging to the set {1, 3, 5,..., 2n - 1, 2n} in F, where n >= 2. In this article, we investigate H-n-factors of graphs by using Lovasz's structural descriptions to the degree prescribed subgraph problem. We find some sufficient conditions for the existence of an H-n-factor of a graph. The little desert? Some subfactors with index in the interval (5,3+\sqrt{5})

Abstract:Progress on classifying small index subfactors has revealed an almost empty landscape. In this paper we give some evidence that this desert continues up to index 3+\sqrt{5}. There are two known quantum-group subfactors with index in this interval, and we show that these subfactors are the only way to realize the corresponding principal graphs. One of these subfactors is 1-supertransitive, and we demonstrate that it is the only 1-supertransitive subfactor with index between 5 and 3+\sqrt{5}. Computer evidence shows that any other subfactor in this interval would need to have rank at least 38. We prove our uniqueness results by showing that there is a unique flat connection on each graph. The result on 1-supertransitive subfactors is proved by an argument using intermediate subfactors, running the `odometer' from the FusionAtlas` Mathematica package and paying careful attention to dimensions.

Abstract:Let G be a graph with vertex set V(G) and let H : V(G) -> 2(N) be a set function associated with G. An H-factor of graph G is a spanning subgraphs F such thatd(F)(v) is an element of H(v) for every v is an element of V (G).Let f : V (G) -> N be an even integer-valued function such that f >= 4 and let H-f (v) = {1, 3,..., f (v) - 1, f (v)} for v is an element of V (G). In this article, we investigate H-f -factors of graphs by using Lovasz's structural descriptions. Let o(G) denote the number of odd components of G. We show that if one of the following conditions holds, then G contains an H-f -factor.(i) vertical bar V(G)vertical bar is even and o(G-S) <= f(S) for all S subset of V(G);(ii) vertical bar V(G)vertical bar is odd, d(G)(v) >= f(v) - 1 for all v is an element of V(G) and o(G - S) <= f(S) for all (sic) not equal S subset of V(G).As a corollary, we showthat if a graph G of odd order withminimum degree at least 2n - 1 satisfieso(G - S) <= 2n vertical bar S vertical bar for all (sic) not equal S subset of V(G),then G contains an H-n-factor, where H-n = {1, 3,..., 2n - 1, 2n}. Abstract:For all Frobenius groups and a large class of finite multiply transitive permutation groups, we show that the corresponding group-subgroup subfactors are completely characterized by their principal graphs. The class includes all the sharply $k$-transitive permutation groups for $k=2,3,4$, and in particular the Mathieu group $M_{11}$ of degree 11.

Sharp Thresholds for Factors in Random Graphs

Abstract:Let $F$ be a graph on $r$ vertices and let $G$ be a graph on $n$ vertices. Then an $F$-factor in $G$ is a subgraph of $G$ composed of $n/r$ vertex-disjoint copies of $F$, if $r$ divides $n$. In other words, an $F$-factor yields a partition of the $n$ vertices of $G$. The study of such $F$-factors in the Erdős-Rényi random graph dates back to Erdős himself. Decades later, in 2008, Johansson, Kahn and Vu established the thresholds for the existence of an $F$-factor for strictly 1-balanced $F$ -- up to the leading constant. The sharp thresholds, meaning the leading constants, were obtained only recently by Riordan and Heckel, but only for complete graphs $F=K_r$ and for so-called nice graphs. Their results rely on sophisticated couplings that utilize the recent, celebrated solution of Shamir's problem by Kahn. We extend the couplings by Riordan and Heckel to any strictly 1-balanced $F$ and thereby obtain the sharp threshold for the existence of an $F$-factor. In particular, we confirm the thirty year old conjecture by Rucínski that this sharp threshold indeed coincides with the sharp threshold for the disappearance of the last vertices which are not contained in a copy of $F$.

Abstract:Subfactors of the hyperfinite II$_1$ factor with ''exotic'' properties can be constructed from nondegenerate commuting squares of multi-matrix algebras. We show that the subfactor planar algebra of these commuting square subfactors necessarily embeds into Jones' graph planar algebra associated to one of the inclusion graphs in the commuting square. This leads to a powerful obstruction for the standard invariant of the subfactor, and we use it to give an example of a hyperfinite subfactor with Temperley-Lieb-Jones standard invariant and index $\frac{5+\sqrt{13}}{2}$, i.e. the index of the Haagerup subfactor. We are led to a conjecture pertaining to Jones indices of irreducible, hyperfinite subfactors.

This generalizes results of Perković and Reed (Discrete Math 165/166 (1997), 567–578) and Plantholt and Tipnis (J London Math Soc 44 (1991), 393–400).

Abstract:Cartesian-factorable extensions and subgraphs of prime graphs are investigated. It is shown that minimal factorable extensions and maximal factorable subgraphs are not unique and that finding them is NP-hard even, in the case of minimal factorable extensions, if the prime graph in question is required to be a tree. Tight bounds on the density of a prime graphs minimal factorable extension are derived. A dynamic programming algorithm is given for finding factorable extensions of certain types of trees.

Abstract:In 2014, some scholars showed that every 2-connected claw-free graph G with independence number α(G)≤3 is Hamiltonian with one exception of family of graphs. If a nontrivial path contains only internal vertices of degree two and end vertices of degree not two, then we call it a branch. A set S of branches of a graph G is called a branch cut if we delete all edges and internal vertices of branches of S leading to more components than G. We use a branch bond to denote a minimal branch cut. If a branch-bond has an odd number of branches, then it is called odd. In this paper, we shall characterize all 2-connected claw-free graphs G such that every odd branch-bond of G has an edge branch and such that α(G)≤5 but has no 2-factor. We also consider the same problem for those 2-edge-connected claw-free graphs with α(G)≤4.

Abstract:Let k≥1 be an integer and G be a graph. Let kG denote the graph obtained from G by replacing each edge of G with k parallel edges. We say that G has all [1,k]-factors or all fractional [1,k]-factors if G has an h-factor or a fractional h-factor for every function h:V(G)→{1,2,…,k} with h(V(G)) even. In this note, we come up with simple characterizations of a graph G such that kG has all [1,k]-factors or all fractional [1,k]-factors. These characterizations are extensions of Tutte’s 1-Factor Theorem and Tutte’s Fractional 1-Factor Theorem.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a graph and $H\colon V(G)\to 2^\mathbb{N}$a set function associated with $G$.A spanning subgraph $F$ of $G$ is called an $H$-factorif the degree of any vertex $v$ in $F$ belongs to the set $H(v)$.This paper contains two results on the existence of $H$-factors in regular graphs.First, we construct an $r$-regular graph without some given $H^*$-factor.In particular,this gives a negative answer to a problem recently posed by Akbari and Kano.Second, by using Lovász's characterization theoremon the existence of $(g, f)$-factors,we find a sharp condition for the existence of general $H$-factors in $\{r, r+1\}$-graphsin terms of the maximum and minimum of $H$.This result reduces to Thomassen's theoremfor the case that $H(v)$ consists of the same two consecutive integers for all vertices $v$and to Tutte's theorem if the graph is regular in addition.

Abstract:Let $G$ denote a graph and $k\geq2$ be an integer. A $\{K_{1,1},K_{1,2},\ldots,K_{1,k},\mathcal{T}(2k+1)\}$-factor of $G$ is a spanning subgraph, whose every connected component is isomorphic to an element of $\{K_{1,1},K_{1,2},\ldots,K_{1,k},\mathcal{T}(2k+1)\}$, where $\mathcal{T}(2k+1)$ is one special family of tree. In this paper, we put forward some sufficient conditions for the existence of $\{K_{1,1},K_{1,2},\ldots,K_{1,k},\mathcal{T}(2k+1)\}$-factors in graphs. Furthermore, we construct some extremal graphs to show that the main results in this paper are best possible.

Abstract:Let G be a graph and be a set of connected graphs. A spanning subgraph H of G is called an –factor if each component of H is isomorphic to a member of . In this paper, we first present a lower bound on the size (resp. the spectral radius) of G to guarantee that G has a –factor (or a perfect k –matching for even k ) and construct extremal graphs to show all this bounds are best possible. We then provide a lower bound on the signless laplacian spectral radius of G to ensure that G has a –factor, where is an integer. Moreover, we also provide some Laplacian eigenvalue (resp. toughness) conditions for the existence of –factor, –factor and –factor in G , respectively. Some of our results extend or improve the related existing results.

Abstract:Let G be a graph with vertex set V and let $$b>a$$ b > a be two positive integers. We say that G has all [a, b]-factors if G has an h-factor for every $$h: V\rightarrow {\mathbb {N}}$$ h : V → N such that $$a \le h(v) \le b$$ a ≤ h ( v ) ≤ b for every $$v\in V$$ v ∈ V and $$\sum _{v\in V}h(v)\equiv 0\pmod 2$$ ∑ v ∈ V h ( v ) ≡ 0 ( mod 2 ) . A spanning subgraph F of G is called an (a, b)-parity factor, if $$d_F (v) \equiv a \equiv b $$ d F ( v ) ≡ a ≡ b (mod 2) and $$a \le d_F (v) \le b$$ a ≤ d F ( v ) ≤ b for all $$v \in V$$ v ∈ V . In this paper, we have developed sufficient conditions for the existence of all [a, b]-factors and (a, b)-parity factors of G in terms of the independence number and connectivity of G. This work extended an earlier result of Nishimura (J Graph Theory 13: 63–69, 1989). Furthermore, we show that these results are best possible in some cases.

Abstract:Let G be a graph with order n and let g, f : V (G) -> N such that g(v) <= f (v) for all v E, V (G). We say that G has all fractional (g.f)-factors if G has a fractional p-factor for every p : V(C) N such that g(v) <= p(v) < f (v) for every v E V(C). Let a < b be two positive integers. If g equivalent to a, f equivalent to b and G has all fractional (g,f)-factors, then we say that G has all fractional la, b I-factors. Suppose that n is sufficiently large for a and b.This paper contains two results on the existence of all (g,f)-factors of graphs. First, we derive from Anstee's fractional (g , j)-factor theorem a similar characterization for the property of all fractional (g, j)-factors. Second, we show that G has all fractional [a, b]-factors if the minimum degree is at least 1/4a ((a + b - 1)(2) + 4b) and every pair of nonadjacent vertices has cardinality of the neighborhood union at least bn/(a + b). Abstract:A characterization is given for the factorizations of almost simple groups with a solvable factor. It turns out that there are only several infinite families of these nontrivial factorizations, and an almost simple group with such a factorization cannot have socle exceptional Lie type or orthogonal of minus type. The characterization is then applied to study s s -arc-transitive Cayley graphs of solvable groups, leading to a striking corollary that, except for cycles, a non-bipartite connected 3 3 -arc-transitive Cayley graph of a finite solvable group is necessarily a normal cover of the Petersen graph or the Hoffman-Singleton graph.

Totally ordered pseudo q-factorization graphs and prime factorization

Abstract:In an earlier publication, the last two authors showed that a finite-dimensional module for a quantum affine algebra of type $A$ whose $q$-factorization graph is totally ordered is prime. In this paper, we continue the investigation of the role of totally ordered pseudo $q$-factorization graphs in the study of the monoidal structure of the underlying abelian category. We introduce the notions of modules with (prime) snake support and of maximal totally ordered subgraphs decompositions. Our main result shows that modules with snake support have unique such decomposition and that it determines the corresponding prime factorization. Along the way, we also prove that prime snake modules (for type $A$) can be characterized as the modules for which every pseudo $q$-factorization graph is totally ordered.

Abstract:Erdős and Hajnal conjectured that for every graph $H$, there exists $c>0$ such that every $H$-free graph $G$ has a clique or a stable set of size at least $|G|^c$ (a graph is $H$-free if it has no induced subgraph isomorphic to $H$). Alon, Pach, and Solymosi reduced the Erdős-Hajnal conjecture to the case when $H$ is {\em prime} (that is, $H$ cannot be obtained by vertex-substitution from smaller graphs); but until now, it was not shown for any prime graph with more than five vertices. We will provide infinitely many prime graphs that satisfy the conjecture. Let $H$ be a graph with the property that for every prime induced subgraph $G'$ with $|G'|\ge 3$, $G'$ has a vertex of degree one and a vertex of degree $|G'|-2$. We will prove that every graph $H$ with this property satisfies the Erdős-Hajnal conjecture, and infinitely many graphs with this property are prime. More generally, say a graph is {\em buildable} if every prime induced subgraph with at least three vertices has a vertex of degree one. We prove that if $H_1$ and $\overline{H_2}$ are buildable, there exists $c>0$ such that every graph $G$ that is both $H_1$-free and $H_2$-free has a clique or a stable set of size at least $|G|^c$. Our proof uses a new technique of ``iterative sparsification'', where we pass to a sequence of successively more restricted induced subgraphs. This approach also extends to ordered graphs and to tournaments. For ordered graphs, we obtain a theorem which significantly extends a recent result of Pach and Tomon about excluding monotone paths; and for tournaments, we obtain infinitely many new prime tournaments that satisfy the Erdős-Hajnal conjecture (in tournament form).

Abstract:For a set { A , B , C , ...} of graphs, an { A , B , C , ...}-factor of a graph G is a spanning subgraph F of G , where each component of F is contained in { A , B , C , ...}. It is very interesting to investigate the existence of factors in a graph with given minimum degree from the prospective of eigenvalues. We first propose a tight sufficient condition in terms of the Q -spectral radius for a graph involving minimum degree to contain a star factor. Moreover, we also present tight sufficient conditions based on the Q -spectral radius and the distance spectral radius for a graph involving minimum degree to guarantee the existence of a { K 2 , { C k }}-factor, respectively.

Asymptotic enumeration of Haar graphical representations

Abstract:This paper represents a significant leap forward in the problem of enumerating vertex-transitive graphs. Recent breakthroughs on symmetry of Cayley (di)graphs show that almost all finite Cayley (di)graphs have the smallest possible automorphism group. Extending the scope of these results, we enumerate (di)graphs admitting a fixed semiregular group of automorphisms with m orbits. Moreover, we consider the more intricate inquiry of prohibiting arcs within each orbit, where the special case m = 2 is known as the problem of finding Haar graphical representations (HGRs). We significantly advance the understanding of HGRs by proving that the proportion of HGRs among Haar graphs of a finite nonabelian group approaches 1 as the group order grows. As a corollary, we obtain an improved bound on the proportion of DRRs among Cayley digraphs in the solution of Morris and the second author to the Babai-Godsil conjecture.
