Abstract:We describe recent work of Kim in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1210.5190" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1210.5190">arXiv:1210.5190</a> to show that operator convex functions associated with quasi-entropies can be used to prove a large class of new matrix inequalities in the tri-partite and bi-partite setting by taking a judiciously chosen partial trace over all but one of the spaces. We give some additional examples in both settings. Furthermore, we observe that the equality conditions for all the new inequalities are essentially the same as those for strong subadditivity.

Abstract:In this paper, using some aspects of convex functions, we refine discrete Jensen's inequality via weight functions. Then, using these results, we give some applications in different abstract spaces and obtain some new interesting inequalities.

Abstract:We give an extension of Hua's inequality in pre-Hilbert $C^*$-modules without using convexity or the classical Hua's inequality. As a consequence, some known and new generalizations of this inequality are deduced. Providing a Jensen inequality in the content of Hilbert $C^*$-modules, another extension of Hua's inequality is obtained. We also present an operator Hua's inequality, which is equivalent to operator convexity of given continuous real function.

Abstract:We establish several operator versions of the classical Aczel inequality. One of operator versions deals with the weighted operator geometric mean and another is related to the positive sesquilinear forms. Some applications including the unital positive linear maps on $C^*$-algebras and the unitarily invariant norms on matrices are presented.

Elevating Precision in Inequalities for Numerical Radii and Operator Matrices

Abstract:In this paper, we aim to establish a range of numerical radius inequalities. These discoveries will bring us to a recently validated numerical radius inequality and will present numerical radius inequalities that exhibit enhanced precision when compared to those recently established for particular cases. Additionally, we employ the generalized Aluthge transform for operators to deduce a set of inequalities pertaining to the numerical radius. Moreover, we set forth various upper and lower bounds for the numerical radius of $2\times 2$ operator matrices, refining and expanding upon the bounds determined previously.

On the Generalization of Weinberger's Inequality with Alternating Signs

Abstract:For given set of $m$ positive numbers satisfying the conditions: $$ a_1 \geq a_2 \geq , ... \geq a_m \geq 0, $$ the inequality $$ \sum_{s=1}^{m} (-1)^{s-1}a^r_s \geq \left[ \sum_{s=1}^{m} (-1)^{s-1}a_s\right]^r, \quad r > 1, $$ was proved by H. Weinberger. The generalization of Weinberger's result takes the form $$ \sum_{s=1}^{m} (-1)^{s-1}f(a_s) \geq f\left( \sum_{s=1}^{m} (-1)^{s-1}a_s\right), $$ where $f$ is a convex function satisfying the condition $f(0)\leq 0 $. The condition $f(0)\geq 0 $ in the generalization proposed by Bellman was corrected by Olkin as $f(0) \leq 0 $. Bellman gave only a graphical proof for differentiable convex functions. In this paper, we give a mathematical proof for the generalized inequality including the importance of the condition $f(0)\leq 0$. We introduce a set $\mathcal{W}$ of functions so that functions in the intersection of $\mathcal{W}$ and the set of all convex functions are the ones that are desirable in the generalization. In addition, we give a proof of Szegö's inequality which applies to sums with odd number of terms.

Some Generalizations of Mercer inequality and its operator extensions

Abstract:We study the Mercer inequality and its operator extension for superquadratic functions. In particular, we give a more general form of the Mercer inequality by replacing some constants by positive operators. As some consequences, our results produce a Jensen operator inequality for superquadratic functions. Moreover, we present some Mercer inequalities of Hermite-Hadamard's type.

Abstract:This paper introduced and investigated a new form of convex mapping known as $ \alpha $-exponential type convexity. We presented several algebraic properties associated with this newly introduced convexity. Additionally, we established novel adaptations of well-known inequalities, including the Hermite-Hadamard and Ostrowski-type inequalities, specifically for this convex function. We also derived special cases of these newly established results. Furthermore, we provided new estimations for the trapezoidal formula, demonstrating practical applications of this research.

Abstract:We extend Polyak's theorem on the convexity of joint numerical range from three to any number of quadratic forms on condition that they can be generated by three quadratic forms with a positive definite linear combination. Our new result covers the fundamental Dines's theorem. As applications, we further extend Yuan's lemma and S-lemma, respectively. Our extended Yuan's lemma is used to build a more generalized assumption than that of Haeser (J. Optim. Theory Appl. 174(3): 641-649, 2017), under which the standard second-order necessary optimality condition holds at local minimizer. The extended S-lemma reveals strong duality of homogeneous quadratic optimization problem with two bilateral quadratic constraints.

Abstract:Abstract We provide a simple, general argument to obtain improvements of concentration-type inequalities starting from improvements of their corresponding isoperimetric-type inequalities. We apply this argument to obtain robust improvements of the Brunn-Minkowski inequality (for Minkowski sums between generic sets and convex sets) and of the Gaussian concentration inequality. The former inequality is then used to obtain a robust improvement of the Riesz rearrangement inequality under certain natural conditions. These conditions are compatible with the applications to a finite-range nonlocal isoperimetric problem arising in statistical mechanics

Abstract:We generalize McDiarmid's inequality for functions with bounded differences on a high probability set, using an extension argument. Those functions concentrate around their conditional expectations. We further extend the results to concentration in general metric spaces.

Abstract:In a series of articles, Ryan Hynd and Francis Seuffert have studied extremal functions for the Morrey inequality. Building upon their work, we study the extremals of a Morrey-type inequality for fractional Sobolev spaces. We verify a few of the results in the spirit of Hynd and Seuffert concerning the symmetry of extremals and their limit at infinity.

Abstract:The Callebaut inequality says that \begin{align*} \sum_{ j=1}^n \left(A_j\sharp B_j\right)\leq \left(\sum_{ j=1}^n A_j \sigma B_j\right)\sharp\left(\sum_{ j=1}^n A_j \sigma^{\bot} B_j\right)\leq\left(\sum_{ j=1}^n A_j\right)\sharp \left(\sum_{ j=1}^nB_j\right)\,, \end{align*} where $A_j, B_j\,\,(1\leq j\leq n)$ are positive invertible operators and $\sigma$ and $\sigma^\perp$ are an operator mean and its dual in the sense of Kabo and Ando, respectively. In this paper we employ the Mond--Pečarić method as well as some operator techniques to establish a complementary inequality to the above one under mild conditions. We also present some refinements of a Callebaut type inequality involving the weighted geometric mean and Hadamard products of Hilbert space operators.

Abstract:We prove the reversed Alexandrov–Fenchel inequality for mixed Monge–Ampère masses of plurisubharmonic functions, which generalizes a result of Demailly and Pham. As applications to convex geometry, this gives a complex analytic proof of the reversed Alexandrov–Fenchel inequality for mixed covolumes, which generalizes recent results in convex geometry of Kaveh–Khovanskii, Khovanskii–Timorin, Milman–Rotem and Schneider on reversed (or complemented) Brunn–Minkowski and Alexandrov–Fenchel inequalities. Also for toric plurisubharmonic functions in the Cegrell class, we confirm Demailly's conjecture on the convergence of higher Lelong numbers under the canonical approximation.

Abstract:We prove a family of sharp multilinear integral inequalities on real spheres involving functions that possess some symmetries that can be described by annihilation by certain sets of vector fields. The Lebesgue exponents involved are seen to be related to the combinatorics of such sets of vector fields. Moreover we derive some Euclidean Brascamp--Lieb inequalities localized to a ball of radius $R$, with a blow-up factor of type $R^\delta$, where the exponent $\delta>0$ is related to the aforementioned Lebesgue exponents, and prove that in some cases $\delta$ is optimal.
