Abstract:We investigate the relation between multilinear mappings and multipartite states. We show that the isomorphism between multilinear mapping and tensor product completely characterizes decomposable multipartite states in a mathematically well-defined manner.

Abstract:In this paper, I will discuss the geometrical structures of multipartite quantum systems based on complex projective schemes. In particular, I will explicitly construct multi-qubit states in terms of these schemes and also discuss separability and entanglement of bipartite and multipartite quantum states. These results give some geometrical insight to the fascinating quantum mechanical phenomena of entanglement which is fundamentally important and has many applications in the field of quantum computing.

Abstract:We show that the secant variety of the Segre variety gives useful information about the geometrical structure of an arbitrary multipartite quantum system. In particular, we investigate the relation between arbitrary bipartite and three-partite entangled states and this secant variety. We also discuss the geometry of an arbitrary general multipartite state.

Abstract:Quantum Entanglement is one of the key manifestations of quantum mechanics that separate the quantum realm from the classical one. Characterization of entanglement as a physical resource for quantum technology became of uppermost importance. While the entanglement of bipartite systems is already well understood, the ultimate goal to cope with the properties of entanglement of multipartite systems is still far from being realized. This dissertation covers characterization of multipartite entanglement using algebraic-geometric tools. Firstly, we establish an algorithm to classify multipartite entanglement by $k$-secant varieties of the Segre variety and $\ell$-multilinear ranks that are invariant under Stochastic Local Operations with Classical Communication (SLOCC). We present a fine-structure classification of multiqubit and tripartite entanglement based on this algorithm. Another fundamental problem in quantum information theory is entanglement transformation that is quite challenging regarding to multipartite systems. It is captivating that the proposed entanglement classification by algebraic geometry can be considered as a reference to study SLOCC and asymptotic SLOCC interconversions among different resources based on tensor rank and border rank, respectively. In this regard, we also introduce a new class of tensors that we call \emph{persistent tensors} and construct a lower bound for their tensor rank. We further cover SLOCC convertibility of multipartite systems considering several families of persistent tensors.

Multipartite entanglement structures in quantum stabilizer states

Abstract:We develop a method for visualizing the internal structure of multipartite entanglement in pure stabilizer states. Our algorithm graphically organizes the many-body correlations in a hierarchical structure. This provides a rich taxonomy from which one can extract a number of traditional quantities such as entanglement depth and entanglement entropy. Our construction is gauge invariant and goes beyond traditional entanglement measures by visually revealing how quantum information and entanglement is distributed. We use this tool to analyze the internal structures of prototypical stabilizer states (GHZ state, cluster state, stabilizer error correction codes) and are able to contrast the complexity of highly entangled volume law states generated by random unitary operators and random projective measurements.

Abstract:In this paper, the module-algebra structures of U-q(sl(m + 1)) = H(e(i), f(i), k(i)(+/- 1))(1 <= i <= m)., on the coordinate algebra of quantum vector spaces are studied. We denote the coordinate algebra of quantum n-dimensional vector space by A(q)(n). As our main result, first, we give a complete classification of module-algebra structures of U-p(sl(m + 1)) on A(q)(3) when k(i) is an element of Aut L(A(q)(3)) as actions on A(q)(3) for i = 1,...,m and m >= 2 and with the same method, on A(q)(2), all module-algebra structures of U-q(sl(m + 1)) are characterized. Lastly, the module-algebra structures of U-q(sl(m + 1)) on A(q)(n) are obtained for any n >= 4.

Abstract:A group of symmetric operators are introduced to carry out the separability criterion for bipartite and multipartite quantum states. All the symmetric operators, represented by a symmetric matrix with only two nonzero elements, and their arbitrary linear combinations are found to be entanglement witnesses. By using these symmetric operators, Wootters' separability criterion for two-qubit states can be generalized to bipartite and multipartite systems in arbitrary dimensions.

Abstract:The partial isometries of $\mathbb R^N,\mathbb C^N$ form compact semigroups $\widetilde{O}_N,\widetilde{U}_N$. We discuss here the liberation question for these semigroups, and for their discrete versions $\widetilde{H}_N,\widetilde{K}_N$. Our main results concern the construction of half-liberations $\widetilde{H}_N^\times,\widetilde{K}_N^\times,\widetilde{O}_N^\times,\widetilde{U}_N^\times$ and of liberations $\widetilde{H}_N^+,\widetilde{K}_N^+,\widetilde{O}_N^+,\widetilde{U}_N^+$. We include a detailed algebraic and probabilistic study of all these objects, justifying our "half-liberation" and "liberation" claims.

Abstract:The entanglement quantification and classification of multipartite quantum states are two important research fields in quantum information. In this work, we study the entanglement of arbitrary-dimensional multipartite pure states by looking at the averaged partial entropies of various bipartite partitions of the system, namely, the so-called Manhattan distance ($l_1$ norm) of averaged partial entropies (MAPE), and it is proved to be an entanglement measure for pure states. We connected the MAPE with the coefficient matrices, which are important tools in entanglement classification and reexpressed the MAPE for arbitrary-dimensional multipartite pure states by the nonzero singular values of the coefficient matrices. The entanglement properties of the $n$-qubit Dicke states, arbitrary-dimensional Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states, and $D_3^n$ states are investigated in terms of the MAPE, and the relation between the rank of the coefficient matrix and the degree of entanglement is demonstrated for symmetric states by two examples.

Entanglement of Sections: The pushout of entangled and parameterized quantum information

Abstract:Recently Freedman & Hastings asked for a mathematical theory that would unify quantum entanglement/tensor-structure with parameterized/bundle-structure via their amalgamation (a hypothetical pushout) along bare quantum (information) theory. As a proposed answer to this question, we first make precise a form of the relevant pushout diagram in monoidal category theory. Then we prove that the pushout produces what is known as the *external* tensor product on vector bundles/K-classes, or rather on flat such bundles (flat K-theory), i.e., those equipped with monodromy encoding topological Berry phases. The bulk of our result is a further homotopy-theoretic enhancement of the situation to the "derived category" (infinity-category) of flat infinity-vector bundles ("infinity-local systems") equipped with the "derived functor" of the external tensor product. Concretely, we present an integral model category of simplicial functors into simplicial K-chain complexes which conveniently presents the infinity-category of parameterized HK-module spectra over varying base spaces and is equipped with homotopically well-behaved external tensor product structure. In concluding we indicate how this model category serves as categorical semantics for the linear-multiplicative fragment of Linear Homotopy Type Theory (LHoTT), which is thus exhibited as a universal quantum programming language. This is the context in which we recently showed that topological anyonic braid quantum gates are native objects in LHoTT.

Abstract:We study a mixed tensor product $\mathbf{3}^{\otimes m} \otimes \mathbf{\overline{3}}^{\otimes n}$ of the three-dimensional fundamental representations of the Hopf algebra $U_{q} s\ell(2|1)$, whenever $q$ is not a root of unity. Formulas for the decomposition of tensor products of any simple and projective $U_{q} s\ell(2|1)$-module with the generating modules $\mathbf{3}$ and $\mathbf{\overline{3}}$ are obtained. The centralizer of $U_{q} s\ell(2|1)$ on the chain is calculated. It is shown to be the quotient $\mathscr{X}_{m,n}$ of the quantum walled Brauer algebra. The structure of projective modules over $\mathscr{X}_{m,n}$ is written down explicitly. It is known that the walled Brauer algebras form an infinite tower. We have calculated the corresponding restriction functors on simple and projective modules over $\mathscr{X}_{m,n}$. This result forms a crucial step in decomposition of the mixed tensor product as a bimodule over $\mathscr{X}_{m,n}\boxtimes U_{q} s\ell(2|1)$. We give an explicit bimodule structure for all $m,n$.

Abstract:For a multipartite system, we sort out all possible entanglements, each of which is among a set of subsystems. Each entanglement can be measured by a generalized relative entropy of entanglement, which is conserved on average under reversible local operations and classical communication (LOCC) defined for all the parties. Then we derive a series of inequalities of different entanglements that have to be satisfied by any pure state which can be generated by reversible LOCC from the set of all GHZ-like states.

Abstract:The entanglement quantification and classification of multipartite quantum states is an important research area in quantum information. In this paper, in terms of the reduced density matrices corresponding to all possible partitions of the entire system, a bounded entanglement measure is constructed for arbitrary-dimensional multipartite quantum states. In particular, for three-qubit quantum systems, we prove that our entanglement measure satisfies the relation of monogamy. Furthermore, we present a necessary condition for characterizing maximally entangled states using our entanglement measure.

Abstract:We explore a nonlinear extension to quantum theory giving rise to deterministic partial disentanglement between pairs of particles. The extension is based on a modified Schrödinger equation having an added nonlinear term. To avoid conflicts with the principles of causality and separability, it is postulated that disentanglement is active only during the time when particles interact. A butterfly-like effect is found near highly entangled multipartite vector states.

Abstract:The definition of a quantum system requires a Hilbert space, a way to define the dynamics, and an algebra of observables. The structure of the observable algebra is related to a tensor product decomposition of the Hilbert space and represents the composition of the system by subsystems. It has been remarked that the Hamiltonian may determine this tensor product structure. Here we observe that this fact may lead to questionable consequences in some cases, and does extend to the more general background-independent case, where the Hamiltonian is replaced by a Hamiltonian constraint. These observations reinforces the idea that specifying the observables and the way they interplay with the dynamics, is essential to define a quantum theory. We also reflect on the general role that system decomposition has in the quantum theory.

Abstract:We propose to define multipartite entanglement of pure states as transformations acting on some parts of a system that can be undone by transformations acting on other parts. This leads to a definition of multipartite entanglement in terms of groups, namely certain quotients of the stabilizer group and its subgroups. We analyze properties of these entanglement groups and show that they lead to restrictions which give a precise meaning to monogamy of entanglement. We use these groups to propose a finite classification of entanglement types in multi-partite quantum systems and we show that this characterization of entanglement underlies several well-known quantum tasks.

Abstract:We propose a study of multipartite entanglement through persistent homology, a tool used in topological data analysis. In persistent homology, a 1-parameter filtration of simplicial complexes called a persistence complex is used to reveal persistent topological features of the underlying data set. This is achieved via the computation of homological invariants that can be visualized as a persistence barcode encoding all relevant topological information. In this work, we apply this technique to study multipartite quantum systems by interpreting the individual systems as vertices of a simplicial complex. To construct a persistence complex from a given multipartite quantum state, we use a generalization of the bipartite mutual information called the deformed total correlation. Computing the persistence barcodes of this complex yields a visualization or 'topological fingerprint' of the multipartite entanglement in the quantum state. The barcodes can also be used to compute a topological summary called the integrated Euler characteristic of a persistence complex. We show that in our case this integrated Euler characteristic is equal to the deformed interaction information, another multipartite version of mutual information. When choosing the linear entropy as the underlying entropy, this deformed interaction information coincides with the n -tangle, a well-known entanglement measure. The persistence barcodes thus provide more fine-grained information about the entanglement structure than its topological summary, the n -tangle, alone, which we illustrate with examples of pairs of states with identical n -tangle but different barcodes. Furthermore, a variant of persistent homology computed relative to a fixed subset yields an interesting connection to strong subadditivity and entropy inequalities. We also comment on a possible generalization of our approach to arbitrary resource theories.

Abstract:Quantum entanglement, a cornerstone of quantum mechanics, remains challenging to classify, particularly in multipartite systems. Here, we present a new interpretation of entanglement classification by revealing a profound connection to Galois groups, the algebraic structures governing polynomial symmetries. This approach not only uncovers hidden geometric relationships between entangled quantum states and polynomial roots but also introduces a method for quantifying entanglement in multi-qubit symmetric states. By reframing the classification of GHZ, W, and separable states within the structure of Galois symmetries, we establish a previously unrecognized hierarchy in their entanglement properties. This work bridges the mathematical elegance of Galois theory with the complexities of quantum mechanics, opening pathways for advances in quantum computing and information theory.
