Abstract:On the generalized tangent bundle of a smooth manifold, we study skew-symmetric endomorphism satisfying an arbitrary polynomial equation with real constant coefficients. We study the compatibility of these structures with the de Rham operator and the Courant-Dorfman bracket. In particular we isolate several conditions that when restricted to the motivating example of generalized almost complex structure are equivalent to the notion of integrability.

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to investigate the definition of symplectic structure on a smooth stratified pseudomanifold in the framework of local $\C^{\infty}$-ringed space theory. We introduce a sheaf-theoretic definition of symplectic form and cohomologically symplectic structure on smooth stratified pseudomanifolds. In particular, we give an indirect definition of symplectic form on the quotient space of a smooth $G$-stratified pseudomanifold. Based on the structure theorem of singular symplectic quotients by Sjamaar--Lerman, we show that the singular reduced space $M_{0}=\mu^{-1}(0)/G$ of a symplectic Hamiltonian $G$-manifold $(M,\omega,G,\mu)$ admits a natural (indirect) symplectic form and a unique cohomologically symplectic structure.

Abstract:Let $(M,J)$ be a $n$-dimensional complex manifold: a $p$-Kähler structure (resp. $p$-symplectic structure) on $M$ is a real, closed $(p,p)$-transverse form $\Omega$ (resp. real, closed $2p$-form whose $(p,p)$-component is transverse). We give obstructions to the existence of such structures on compact complex manifolds. We provide several families of compact complex manifolds which admit both $(n-1)$-symplectic structures and special Hermitian metrics.

Abstract:We consider the following question: How much of the combinatorial structure determining properties of $\overline{\mathcal{M}_{0, n}}$ is ``intrinsic'' and how much new information do we obtain from using properties specific to this space? Our approach is to study the effect of the $S_n$-action. Apart from being a natural action to consider, it is known that this action does not extend to other wonderful compactifications associated to the $A_{n - 2}$ hyperplane arrangement. We find the differences in intersection patterns of faces on associahedra and permutohedra which characterize the failure to extend to other compactifications and show that this is reflected by most terms of degree $\ge 2$ of the cohomology/Chow ring. Even from a combinatorial perspective, terms of degree 1 are more naturally related to geometric properties. In particular, imposing $S_n$-invariance implies that many of the log concave sequences obtained from degree 1 Hodge--Riemann relations (and all of them for $n \le 2000$) on the Chow ring of $\overline{\mathcal{M}_{0, n}}$ can be restricted to those with a special recursive structure. A conjectural result implies that this is true for all $n$. Elements of these sequences can be expressed as polynomials in quantum Littlewood--Richardson coefficients multiplied by terms such as partition components, factorials, and multinomial coefficients. After dividing by binomial coefficients, polynomials with these numbers as coefficients can be interepreted in terms of volumes or resultants. Finally, we find a connection between the geometry of $\overline{\mathcal{M}_{0, n}}$ and higher degree Hodge--Riemann relations of other rings via Toeplitz matrices.

Singularities of orthogonal and symplectic determinantal varieties

Abstract:Let either $GL(E)\times SO(F)$ or $GL(E)\times Sp(F)$ act naturally on the space of matrices $E\otimes F$. There are only finitely many orbits, and the orbit closures are orthogonal and symplectic generalizations of determinantal varieties, which can be described similarly using rank conditions. In this paper, we study the singularities of these varieties and describe their defining equations. We prove that in the symplectic case, the orbit closures are normal with good filtrations, and in characteristic $0$ have rational singularities. In the orthogonal case we show that most orbit closures will have the same properties, and determine precisely the exceptions to this.

Abstract:A tautological system, introduced in [17, 18], arises as a regular holonomic system of partial differential equations that govern the period integrals of a family of complete intersections in a complex manifold X, equipped with a suitable Lie group action. In this article, we introduce two formulas-one purely algebraic, the other geometric-to compute the rank of the solution sheaf of such a system for CY hypersurfaces in a generalized flag variety. The algebraic version gives the local solution space as a Lie algebra homology group, while the geometric one as the middle de Rham cohomology of the complement of a hyperplane section in X. We use both formulas to find certain degenerate points for which the rank of the solution sheaf becomes 1. These rank 1 points appear to be good candidates for the so-called large complex structure limits in mirror symmetry. The formulas are also used to prove a conjecture of Hosono, Lian, and Yau, on the completeness of the extended GKZ system when X is P-n [12].

Abstract:We consider two different -invariant cohomogeneity one manifolds, one non-compact and one compact , and study the existence of coclosed -invariant -structures constructed from half-flat -structures. For , we prove the existence of a family of coclosed (but not necessarily torsion-free) -structures which is given by three smooth functions satisfying certain boundary conditions around the singular orbit and a non-zero parameter. Moreover, any coclosed -structure constructed from a half-flat -structure is in this family. For , we prove that there are no -invariant coclosed -structures constructed from half-flat -structures.

Abstract:We provide Fredholm conditions for compatible differential operators on certain Lie manifolds (that is, on certain possibly non-compact manifolds with nice ends). We discuss in more detail the case of manifolds with cylindrical, hyperbolic, and Euclidean ends, which are all covered by particular instances of our results. We also discuss applications to Schrödinger operators with singularities of the form r^{-2\gamma}$, $\gamma \in \RR_+$.

Abstract:We prove a structure theorem for 3-manifolds with non-trivial JSJ-decomposition and 2-generated fundamental group. We deduce a variety of Corollaries. Note this is not a complete classification of such manifolds. In particular we believe that one of the families in our list is empty. Abstract:In this paper, we construct the moduli space of marked oper structures on a closed, oriented smooth surface of negative Euler characteristic as a holomorphic fiber bundle over Teichm\"{u}ller space. We prove that the holonomy map from the space of marked oper structures to the moduli space of reductive flat bundles is a holomorphic immersion, generalizing the known results for the moduli space of marked complex projective structures. Finally, we prove that the symplectic structure on the moduli space of marked complex projective structures extends to a pre-symplectic structure on the moduli space of marked opers whose reduced phase space is the space of marked complex projective structures.

Abstract:This is the abstract prepared for Workshop on Topology and Geometry (Zhang jiang, China, October 1994), and is a review of my recent works. What kinds of combinations of singularities can appear in small deformation fibers of a fixed singularity? We consider this problem for hypersurface singularities on complex analytic spaces of dimension 2. For all singularities in the beginning par t of Arnold's classification list, the answer to this problem is given by a unique principle described by Dynkin graphs. Abstract:We study ordered configuration spaces of compact manifolds with boundary. We show that for a large class of such manifolds, the real homotopy type of the configuration spaces only depends on the real homotopy type of the pair consisting of the manifold and its boundary. We moreover describe explicit real models of these configuration spaces using three different approaches. We do this by adapting previous constructions for configuration spaces of closed manifolds which relied on Kontsevich's proof of the formality of the little disks operads. We also prove that our models are compatible with the richer structure of configuration spaces, respectively a module over the Swiss-Cheese operad, a module over the associative algebra of configurations in a collar around the boundary of the manifold, and a module over the little disks operad.

Wild orbits and generalised singularity modules: stratifications and quantisation

Abstract:We study isomorphism classes of untwisted irregular singular meromorphic connections on principal bundles over (wild) Riemann surfaces, for any complex reductive structure group $G$ and polar divisor. In particular we compute the stabilisers of suitable marked points on their principal part orbits, showing the stabilisers are connected and controlled by the corresponding filtration of (Levi factors of) nested parabolic subgroups of $G$; this uniquely determines the orbits as complex homogeneous manifolds for groups of jets of principal $G$-bundle automorphisms. Moreover, when the residue is semisimple we stratify the space of orbits by the stabilisers, relating this to local wild mapping class groups and generalising the Levi stratification of a Cartan subalgebra $\mathfrak{t} \subseteq \mathfrak{g} = \operatorname{Lie}(G)$: the dense stratum corresponds to the generic setting of irregular isomonodromic deformations à la Jimbo-Miwa-Ueno.

From $λ$-connections to $PSL_2(\mathbb{C})$-opers with apparent singularities

Abstract:On a Riemann surface of genus $> 1$, we discuss how to construct opers with apparent singularities from $SL_2(\mathbb{C})$ $\lambda$-connections $(E, \nabla_\lambda)$ and sub-line bundles $L$ of $E$. This construction defines a rational map from a space which captures important data of triples $(E, L, \nabla_\lambda)$ to a space which parametrises the positions and residue parameters of the induced apparent singularities. We show that this is a Poisson map with respect to natural Poisson structures. The relations to wobbly bundles and Lagrangians in the moduli spaces of Higgs bundles and $\lambda$-connections are discussed.

Abstract:The Frobenius manifold structure on the space of rational functions with multiple simple poles is constructed. In particular, the dependence of the Saito-flat coordinates on the flat coordinates of the intersection form is studied. While some of the individual flat coordinates are complicated rational functions, they appear in the prepotential in certain combinations known as diagonal invariants, which turn out to be polynomial. Two classes are studied in more detail. These are generalisations of the Coxeter and extended-affine-Weyl orbits space for the group $W=W(A_\ell)\,.$ An invariant theory is also developed.

Abstract:The geometric theory of pseudo-differential and Fourier Integral Operators relies on the symplectic structure of cotangent bundles. If one is to study calculi with some specific feature adapted to a geometric situation, the corresponding notion of cotangent bundle needs to be adapted as well and leads to spaces with a singular symplectic structure. Analysing these singularities is a necessary step in order to construct the calculus itself. In this article we provide some new insights into the symplectic structures arising from asymptotically Euclidean manifolds. In particular, we study the action of the Poisson bracket on $SG$-pseudo-differential operators and define a new class of singular symplectomorphisms, taking into account the geometric picture. We then consider this notion in the context of the characterisation of order-preserving isomorphisms of the $SG$-algebra, and show that these are in fact given by conjugation with a Fourier Integral Operator of $SG$-type.

Abstract:Let $M$ be a closed symplectic manifold of dimension $2n$ with non-ellipticity. We can define an almost Kähler structure on $M$ by using the given symplectic form. Hence, we have a $\G=\pi_1(M)$-invariant almost Kähler structure on the universal covering, $\ti M$, of $M$. Using Darboux coordinate charts, we globally deform the given almost Kähler structure on $\ti M$ off a Lebesgue measure zero subset to obtain a $\G$-invariant Lipschitz Kähler flat structure on $\ti M$ which is $\G$-homotopy equivalent to the given almost Kähler structure. Analogous to Teleman's $L^2$-Hodge decomposition on PL manifolds or Lipschitz Riemannian manifolds, we give a $L^2$-Hodge decomposition theorem on $\ti M$ with respect to the Lipschitz Kähler flat metric. Using an argument of Gromov, we give a vanishing theorem for $L^2$ harmonic $p$-forms, $p\not=n$ (resp. a non-vanishing theorem for $L^2$ harmonic $n$-forms) on $\ti M$, then the signed Euler characteristic satisfies $(-1)^n\chi(M)\geq0$ (resp. $(-1)^n\chi(M)>0$). Similarly, for any closed even dimensional Riemannian manifold $(M, g)$, we can construct a $\G$-invariant Lipschitz Kähler flat structure on the universal covering, $(\ti M, \ti g)$, of $(M, g)$ which is $\G$-homotopy equivalent to and quasi-isometric to the metric $\ti g$. As an application, using Gromov's method we show that the Chern-Hopf conjecture holds true in closed even dimensional Riemannian manifolds with nonpositive curvature (resp. strictly negative curvature), it gives a positive answer to a Yau's problem due to S. S. Chern and H. Hopf.

Abstract:In this article, we define Perelman's functionals on manifolds with non-isolated conical singularities by starting from a spectral point of view for the Perelman's $\lambda$-functional. (Our definition of non-isolated conical singularities includes isolated conical singularities.) We prove that the spectrum of Schrödinger operator $-4\Delta + R$ on manifolds with non-isolated conical singularities consists of discrete eigenvalues with finite multiplicities, provided that scalar curvatures of cross sections of cones have a certain lower bound. This enables us to define the $\lambda$-functional on these singular manifolds, and further, to prove that the infimum of $W$-functional is finite, with the help of some weighted Sobolev inequalities. Furthermore, we obtain some asymptotic behavior of eigenfunctions and the minimizer of the $W$-functional near the singularity, and a more refined optimal partial asymptotic expansion for eigenfunctions near isolated conical singularities. We also study the spectrum of $-4\Delta + R$ and Perelman's functionals on manifolds with more general singularities, i.e. the $r^{\alpha}$-horn singularities which serve as prototypes of algebraic singularities.
