Abstract:We report on recent numerical computations of the Landau gauge gluon and ghost propagators as well as of the ghost-gluon vertex function in pure SU(3) Yang-Mills theory and in full QCD on the lattice. Special emphasis is paid to the low momentum region. In particular, we present new data for the gluon propagator at momenta below 300 MeV. We also discuss different systematic effects as there are finite-size, lattice discretization and Gribov copy but also unquenching effects. A MOM-scheme running coupling \alpha_s(q^2) based on the ghost-gluon vertex is calculated and found to decrease for momenta below 550 MeV, even though the renormalization constant of the vertex deviates only weakly from being constant.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is the behavior of the gluon propagator and the ghost propagator in the low - momentum region in the Landau gauge, within the framework of pure gluon field theory (i.e., without quark contributions) and full QCD (including quark contributions) in quantum chromodynamics (QCD). Specifically, the researchers focus on the following aspects: 1. **Low - momentum behavior of gluon and ghost propagators**: The researchers pay special attention to the behavior of the gluon propagator when the momentum is below 300 MeV, and explore the effects of different systematic effects, such as finite - volume effects, lattice discretization effects, Gribov copy problems, and non - quark contributions (i.e., quark effects in full QCD). 2. **Coupling constant in the momentum subtraction scheme**: Based on the ghost - gluon vertex function, the coupling constant \(\alpha_s(q^2)\) in the momentum subtraction scheme is calculated, and it is found that for momenta below 550 MeV, the coupling constant shows a downward trend, although the deviation of the vertex renormalization constant from a constant value is relatively weak. 3. **Verification of infrared behavior**: The researchers attempt to verify the infrared power - law behavior predicted by the Dyson - Schwinger equation (DSE), that is: \[ Z(q^2)\equiv q^2D(q^2)\propto(q^2)^{2\lambda}, \quad J(q^2)\equiv q^2G(q^2)\propto(q^2)^{-\lambda} \] where \(\lambda\approx0.59\). This is closely related to the Gribov - Zwanziger horizon condition and the Kugo - Ojima criterion, which describe the confinement phenomena of gluons and quarks. 4. **Exploration of non - perturbative effects**: The researchers also explore non - perturbative effects, such as the fixed - point behavior of the coupling constant in the momentum subtraction scheme in the infrared limit, and whether the renormalization constant of the ghost - gluon vertex function at zero gluon momentum is close to a constant. In summary, through numerical simulations and theoretical analysis, this paper aims to gain a deep understanding of the non - perturbative behavior of QCD in the low - momentum region, especially the propagation properties of gluon and ghost fields and their influence on strong - interaction phenomena.
