Abstract:The main result of the paper is a Borel type description of the $Sp(1)^n$-equivariant cohomology ring of the manifold $Fl_n(\mathbb{H})$ of all complete flags in $\mathbb{H}^n$. To prove this, we obtain a Goresky-Kottwitz-MacPherson type description of that ring.

Abstract:The (small) quantum cohomology ring of a flag manifold F encodes enumerative geometry of rational curves on F. We give a proof of the presentation of the ring and of a quantum Giambelli formula, which is more direct and geometric than the previously known proof. Furthermore, this proof gives a relationship between quantum Schubert polynomials and universal Schubert polynomials, which arise in a degeneracy locus formula of Fulton.

Abstract:Consider the generalized flag manifold $G/B$ and the corresponding affine flag manifold $\mathcal{Fl}_G$. In this paper we use curve neighborhoods for Schubert varieties in $\mathcal{Fl}_G$ to construct certain affine Gromov-Witten invariants of $\mathcal{Fl}_G$, and to obtain a family of "affine quantum Chevalley" operators $\Lambda_0, \ldots, \Lambda_n$ indexed by the simple roots in the affine root system of $G$. These operators act on the cohomology ring $\mathrm{H}^*(\mathcal{Fl}_G)$ with coefficients in $\mathbb{Z}[q_0, \ldots,q_n]$. By analyzing commutativity and invariance properties of these operators we deduce the existence of two quantum cohomology rings, which satisfy properties conjectured earlier by Guest and Otofuji for $G= \mathrm{SL}_n(\mathbb{C})$. The first quantum ring is a deformation of the subalgebra of $\mathrm{H}^*(\mathcal{Fl}_G)$ generated by divisors. The second ring, denoted $\mathrm{QH}^*_{\mathrm{af}}(G/B)$, deforms the ordinary quantum cohomology ring $\mathrm{QH}^*(G/B)$ by adding an affine quantum parameter $q_0$. We prove that $\mathrm{QH}^*_{\mathrm{af}}(G/B)$ is a Frobenius algebra, and that the new quantum product determines a flat Dubrovin connection. Further, we develop an analogue of Givental and Kim formalism for this ring and we deduce a presentation of $\mathrm{QH}^*_{\mathrm{af}}(G/B)$ by generators and relations. The ideal of relations is generated by the integrals of motion for the periodic Toda lattice associated to the dual of the extended Dynkin diagram of $G$.

Abstract:We consider quotients of complete flag manifolds in Cn and Rn by an action of the symmetric group on n objects. We compute their cohomology with field coefficients of any characteristic. Specifically, we show that these topological spaces exhibit homological stability and we provide a closed-form description of their stable cohomology rings. We also describe a simple algorithmic procedure to determine their unstable cohomology additively.

Abstract:We compute the quantum cohomology of symplectic flag manifolds. Symplectic flag manifolds can be described by non-abelian GLSMs with superpotential. Although the ring relations cannot be directly read off from the equations of motion on the Coulomb branch due to complication introduced by the non-abelian gauge symmetry, it can be shown that they can be extracted from the localization formula in a gauge-invariant form. Our result is general for all symplectic flag manifolds, which reduces to previously established results on symplectic Grassmannians and complete symplectic flag manifolds derived by other means. We also explain why a (0,2) deformation of the GLSM does not give rise to a deformation of the quantum cohomology.

Quantum Sheaf Cohomology and Duality of Flag Manifolds

Abstract:We study the quantum sheaf cohomology of flag manifolds with deformations of the tangent bundle and use the ring structure to derive how the deformation transforms under the biholomorphic duality of flag manifolds. Realized as the OPE ring of A/2-twisted two-dimensional theories with (0,2) supersymmetry, quantum sheaf cohomology generalizes the notion of quantum cohomology. Complete descriptions of quantum sheaf cohomology have been obtained for abelian gauged linear sigma models (GLSMs) and for nonabelian GLSMs describing Grassmannians. In this paper we continue to explore the quantum sheaf cohomology of nonabelian theories. We first propose a method to compute the generating relations for (0,2) GLSMs with (2,2) locus. We apply this method to derive the quantum sheaf cohomology of products of Grassmannians and flag manifolds. The dual deformation associated with the biholomorphic duality gives rise to an explicit IR duality of two A/2-twisted (0,2) gauge theories.

Abstract:The quantum cohomology algebra of the (full) flag manifold is a fundamental example in quantum cohomology theory, with connections to combinatorics, algebraic geometry, and integrable systems. Using a differential geometric approach, we give an algorithm for computing the multiplicative structure constants of this algebra (the 3-point genus zero Gromov-Witten invariants). The algorithm involves a Grobner basis calculation and the solution by quadrature of a system of differential equations. In particular we obtain quantum Schubert polynomials in a natural fashion.

Abstract:We discuss relations of Vafa's quantum cohomology with Floer's homology theory, introduce equivariant quantum cohomology, formulate some conjectures about its general properties and, on the basis of these conjectures, compute quantum cohomology algebras of the flag manifolds. The answer turns out to coincide with the algebra of regular functions on an invariant lagrangian variety of a Toda lattice.

Abstract:A complete flag manifold is the quotient of a Lie group by its maximal torus. The rank of a flag manifold is the dimension of the maximal torus of the Lie group. The rank 2 complete flag manifolds are $SU(3)/T^2$, $Sp(2)/T^2$, $Spin(4)/T^2$, $Spin(5)/T^2$ and $G_2/T^2$. In this paper we calculate the cohomology of the free loop space of rank 2 complete flag manifolds.

Abstract:We give a presentation of the torus-equivariant quantum $K$-theory ring of flag manifolds of type $A$, as a quotient of a polynomial ring by an explicit ideal. This is the torus-equivariant version of our previous result, which gives a presentation of the non-equivariant quantum $K$-theory ring of flag manifolds of type $A$. However, the method of proof for the torus-equivariant one is completely different from that for the non-equivariant one; our proof is based on the result in the $Q = 0$ limit, and uses Nakayama-type arguments to upgrade it to the quantum situation. Also, in contrast to the non-equivariant case in which we used the Chevalley formula, we make use of the inverse Chevalley formula for the torus-equivariant $K$-group of semi-infinite flag manifolds to obtain a relation which yields our presentation.

Abstract:A hypercomplex structure $(I,J,K)$ on a manifold $M$ is said to be $C^\infty$-pure-and-full if the Dolbeault cohomology $H^{2,0}_{\partial}(M,I)$ is the direct sum of two natural subgroups called the $\bar{J}$-invariant and the $\bar{J}$-anti-invariant subgroups. We prove that a compact hypercomplex manifold that satisfies the quaternionic version of the $dd^c$-Lemma is $C^\infty$-pure-and-full. Moreover, we study the dimensions of the $\bar{J}$-invariant and the $\bar{J}$-anti-invariant subgroups, together with their analogue in the Bott-Chern cohomology. For instance, in real dimension 8, we characterize the existence of hyperkähler with torsion metrics in terms of the dimension of the $\bar{J}$-invariant subgroup. We also study the existence of special hypercomplex structures on almost abelian solvmanifolds.

Abstract:This paper shows that the integral equivariant cohomology Chern numbers completely determine the equivariant geometric unitary bordism classes of closed unitary $G$-manifolds, which gives an affirmative answer to the conjecture posed by Guillemin--Ginzburg--Karshon in [20, Remark H.5, $\S3$, Appendix H], where $G$ is a torus. As a further application, we also obtain a satisfactory solution of [20, Question (A), $\S1.1$, Appendix H] on unitary Hamiltonian $G$-manifolds. Our key ingredients in the proof are the universal toric genus defined by Buchstaber--Panov--Ray and the Kronecker pairing of bordism and cobordism. Our approach heavily exploits Quillen's geometric interpretation of homotopic unitary cobordism theory. Moreover, this method can also be applied to the study of $({\Bbb Z}_2)^k$-equivariant unoriented bordism and can still derive the classical result of tom Dieck.

Abstract:Let $\nu=(n_1,\ldots, n_s), s\ge 2,$ be a sequence of positive integers and let $n=\sum_{1\le j\le s}n_j$. Let $\mathbb CG(\nu)=U(n)/(U(n_1)\times \cdots\times U(n_s))$ be the complex flag manifold. Denote by $P(m,\nu)=P(\mathbb S^m,\mathbb CG(\nu))$ the generalized Dold manifold $\mathbb S^m\times \mathbb CG(\nu)/\langle \theta\rangle $ where $\theta=\alpha\times \sigma$ with $\alpha:\mathbb S^m\to \mathbb S^m$ being the antipodal map and $\sigma:\mathbb CG(\nu)\to \mathbb CG(\nu)$, the complex conjugation. The manifold $P(m,\nu)$ has the structure of a smooth $\mathbb CG(\nu)$-bundle over the real projective space $\mathbb RP^m.$ We determine the additive structure of $H^*(P(m,\nu);R)$ when $R=\mathbb Z$ and its ring structure when $R$ is a commutative ring in which $2$ is invertible. As an application, we determine the additive structure of $K(P(m,\nu))$ almost completely and also obtain partial results on its ring structure. The results for the singular homology are obtained for generalized Dold spaces $P(S,X)=S\times X/\langle \theta\rangle$, where $\theta=\alpha\times \sigma$, $\alpha:S\to S$ is a fixed point free involution and $\sigma:X\to X$ is an involution with $\mathrm{Fix}(\sigma)\ne \emptyset,$ for a much wider class of spaces $S$ and $X$.

Abstract:For Hamiltonian circle actions on compact, connected, four-dimensional manifolds, we give a generators and relations description for the even part of the equivariant cohomology, as an algebra over the equivariant cohomology of a point. This description depends on combinatorial data encoded in the decorated graph of the manifold. We then give an explicit combinatorial description of all weak algebra isomorphisms. We use this description to prove that the even parts of the equivariant cohomology algebras are weakly isomorphic and the odd groups have the same ranks if and only if the labeled graphs obtained from the decorated graphs by forgetting the height and area labels are isomorphic. As a consequence, we give an example of an isomorphism of equivariant cohomology algebras that cannot be induced by an equivariant diffeomorphism of manifolds preserving a compatible almost complex structure. We also provide a soft proof that there are finitely many maximal Hamiltonian circle actions on a fixed compact, connected, four-dimensional symplectic manifold.

Abstract:In this article, the comodule structure of Chow rings of Flag manifolds $\operatorname{CH}(G/B)$ is described by Schubert cells. Its equivariant version gives rise to a Hopf structure of the equivariant cohomology of flag manifolds $H^*_B(G/B)$. We get two identities of generalized Schubert polynomials as explanations of the geometric facts.
Equivariant formality in complex-oriented theories

Abstract:Let $G$ be a product of unitary groups and let $(M,\omega)$ be a compact symplectic manifold with Hamiltonian $G$-action. We prove an equivariant formality result for any complex-oriented cohomology theory $\mathbb{E}^*$ (in particular, integral cohomology). This generalizes the celebrated result of Atiyah-Bott-Kirwan for rational cohomology from the 1980s. The proof does not use classical ideas but instead relies on a recent cohomological splitting result of Abouzaid-McLean-Smith for Hamiltonian fibrations over $\mathbb{CP}^1.$ Moreover, we establish analogues of the "localization" and "injectivity to fixed points" theorems for certain cohomology theories studied by Hopkins-Kuhn-Ravenel. As an application of these results, we establish a Goresky-Kottwitz-MacPherson theorem with Morava $K$-theory coefficients for Hamiltonian $T$-manifolds.
