Abstract:In this paper, we study the partial convexity of smooth solutions to the heat equation on a compact or complete non-compact Riemannian manifold M or Kahler-Ricci flow. We show that under a natural assumption, a new partial convexity property for smooth solutions to the heat equation is preserved.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the regularity of convex solutions to the Dirichlet problem of the homogeneous Monge-Ampere equation det D(2)u = 0. We prove that if the domain is a strip region and the boundary functions are locally uniformly convex and C-k+2,C-alpha smooth, then the solution is C-k+2,C-alpha smooth up to boundary. By an example, we show the solution may fail to be C-2 smooth if boundary functions are not locally uniformly convex. Similar results have also been obtained for the Dirichlet problem on bounded convex domains.

Abstract:This work deals with the Entire solutions of a nonlinear equation. The first part of this paper is devoted to investigation of the Liouville property on compact manifolds, which extends a result by Castorina-Mantegazza [4] for positive f. Secondly, we will turn to non-compact manifolds and prove a Liouville theorem under the assumptions of boundedness of the Ricci curvature from below, diffeomorphism of M with R^N and sub-criticality of p defined below. Finally, we also present simplified proofs of Yau's theorem for harmonic function and Gidas-Spruck's theorem for elliptic semilinear equation. Our proofs are based on Li-Yau type estimation for nonlinear equations.

Abstract:In this paper the partial regularity of the weak heat flow of harmonic maps from a Riemannian manifold M into a general compact Riemannian manifold N without boundary is considered. Partial results have been obtained for target manifolds that are spheres [12, 4] or homogeneous spaces [6]. The proofs in these special cases relied heavily on the geometry of these manifolds, and cannot be applied to the general case. We prove in this article that the singular set Sing(u) of the stationary weak heat flow satisfies H n ρ (Sing(u))=0, with n=dimension M, where H n ρ is the Hausdorff measure with respect to parabolic metric .
Some gradient estimates for nonlinear heat-type equations on smooth metric measure spaces with compact boundary

Abstract:In this paper we prove some Hamilton type and Li-Yau type gradient estimates on positive solutions to generalized nonlinear parabolic equations on smooth metric measure space with compact boundary. The geometry of the space in terms of lower bounds on the weighted Bakry-Emery Ricci curvature tensor and weighted mean curvature of the boundary are key in proving generalized local and global gradient estimates. Various applications of these gradient estimates in terms of parabolic Harnack inequalities and Liouville type results are discussed. Further consequences to some specific models informed by the nature of the nonlinearities are highlighted.

Abstract:We establish a point-wise gradient estimate for $all$ positive solutions of the conjugate heat equation. This contrasts to Perelman's point-wise gradient estimate which works mainly for the fundamental solution rather than all solutions. Like Perelman's estimate, the most general form of our gradient estimate does not require any curvature assumption. Moreover, assuming only lower bound on the Ricci curvature, we also prove a localized gradient estimate similar to the Li-Yau estimate for the linear Schrödinger heat equation. The main difference with the linear case is that no assumptions on the derivatives of the potential (scalar curvature) are needed. A generalization of Perelman's W-entropy is defined in both the Ricci flow and fixed metric case. We also find a new family of heat kernel estimates.

In this paper, we investigate the existence, uniqueness, and asymptotic behaviors of mild solutions of parabolic evolution equations on complex plane, in which the diffusion operator has the form [math], where [math], the function [math] is smooth and subharmonic on [math], and [math] is the formal adjoint of [math]. Our method combines certain estimates of heat kernel associating with the homogeneous linear equation of Raich [Heat equations in [math], J. Funct. Anal. 240(1) (2006) 1–35] and a fixed point argument.

Abstract:We study microscopic convexity property of fully nonlinear elliptic and parabolic partial differential equations. Under certain general structure condition, we establish that the rank of Hessian ∇2u is of constant rank for any convex solution u of equation F(∇2u,∇u,u,x)=0. The similar result is also proved for parabolic equations. Some of geometric applications are also discussed.

Abstract:We derive a Harnack inequality for positive solutions of the f-heat equation and Gaussian upper and lower bound estimates for the f-heat kernel on complete smooth metric measure spaces with Bakry–Émery Ricci curvature bounded below. Both upper and lower bound estimates are sharp when the Bakry–Émery Ricci curvature is nonnegative. The main argument is the De Giorgi–Nash–Moser theory. As applications, we prove an $L_f^1$-Liouville theorem for f-subharmonic functions and an $L_f^1$-uniqueness theorem for f-heat equations when f has at most linear growth. We also obtain eigenvalues estimates and f-Green’s function estimates for the f-Laplace operator.

Abstract:We derive a local Gaussian upper bound for the $$f$$ -heat kernel on complete smooth metric measure space $$(M,g,e^{-f}dv)$$ with nonnegative Bakry–Émery Ricci curvature. As applications, we obtain a sharp $$L_f^1$$ -Liouville theorem for $$f$$ -subharmonic functions and an $$L_f^1$$ -uniqueness property for nonnegative solutions of the $$f$$ -heat equation, assuming $$f$$ is of at most quadratic growth. In particular, any $$L_f^1$$ -integrable $$f$$ -subharmonic function on gradient shrinking and steady Ricci solitons must be constant. We also provide explicit $$f$$ -heat kernel for Gaussian solitons.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the Laplacian G_2 flow on a closed seven-dimensional manifold M with a closed G_2-structure. We first obtain the gradient estimates of positive solutions of the heat equation under the Laplacian G_2 flow and then we get the Harnack inequality on spacetime. As an application, we prove the monotonicity for positive solutions of the heat equation with bounded Ricci curvature, and get the integral-type Harnack inequality. Besides, we prove the monotonicity of parabolic frequency for positive solutions of the linear heat equation with bounded Bakry-Emery Ricci curvature, and then obtain the backward uniqueness.

Generalized Li-Yau's inequalities on Finsler measure spaces

Abstract:It is known that the Finsler heat flow is a nonlinear flow. This leads to the study of the linearized heat semigroup for the Finsler heat flow. In this paper, we first study its properties. By means of the linearized heat semigroup, we give two different kinds of generalized Li-Yau's inequalities for the positive solutions to the heat equation on $n$-dimensional complete Finsler measure spaces with Ric$_N\geq K$ for some $N\in [n, \infty)$ and $K\in \mathbb R$. These inequalities almost recover all known Li-Yau's type inequalities on complete Finsler and Riemannian manifolds with lower Ricci curvature bounds. In particular, we obtain some new Li-Yau's type inequalities on complete Finsler and Riemannian measure spaces both in negative and positive Ricci curvature. As applications, we obtain two generalized Harnack inequalities. Finally we give several equivalent characterizations of Ric$_\infty\geq K (K\in \mathbb R)$ by the linearized heat semigroup approach and their applications.

Abstract:We establish in the present paper two sub-gradient estimates for the quaternionic contact (qc) heat equation on a compact qc manifold of dimension $4n+3$, provided some positivity conditions are satisfied. These are qc versions of the prominent Li-Yau gradient estimate in Riemannian geometry. Another goal of this paper is to get two Perelman-type entropy formulas for the qc heat equation on a compact qc-Einstein manifold of dimension $4n+3$ with non-negative qc scalar curvature (e.g. compact $3$-Sasakian manifold), as well as an integral sub-gradient estimate for the positive solutions of the qc heat equation.

Abstract:Given any d -dimensional Lipschitz Riemannian manifold (M,g) with heat kernel p , we establish uniform upper bounds on p which can always be decoupled in space and time. More precisely, we prove the existence of a constant C>0 and a bounded Lipschitz function R:M→(0,∞) such that for every x∈M and every t>0 , supy∈Mp(t,x,y)≤Cmin{t,R2(x)}−d/2. This allows us to identify suitable weighted Lebesgue spaces w.r.t. the given volume measure as subsets of the Kato class induced by (M,g) . In the case ∂M≠0̸ , we also provide an analogous inclusion for Lebesgue spaces w.r.t. the surface measure on ∂M . We use these insights to give sufficient conditions for a possibly noncomplete Lipschitz Riemannian manifold to be tamed, i.e. to admit a measure-valued lower bound on the Ricci curvature, formulated in a synthetic sense.
