A Study on the Application of Microsoft Excel in the Thermodynamic Property Calculations

Abstract:The mole volume,compressibility factor,residual enthalpy,residual entropy and fugacity calculations are the most important contents in the calculation of thermodynamic properties of fluids,which take many teaching hours in the course of Chemical Engineering thermodynamics.The calculations are generally complicated,involving trial and error calculations and iterative calculations.Frequently,the same calculations are repeated for different fluids,resulting in an arduous job.Here we introduce a method for above calculations.Microsoft Excel is used for the calculations.The calculations with Excel are simple and clear,not easy to be wrong,and feasible for illustration in the class.It is a method worthy of being recommended to solve problems in both engineering and class.
