Abstract:We expose the Schrödinger quantum mechanics with traditional applications to Hydrogen atom. We discuss carefully the experimental and theoretical background for the introduction of the Schrödinger, Pauli and Dirac equations, as well as for the Maxwell equations. We explain in detail all basic theoretical concepts. We explain all details of the calculations and mathematical tools: Lagrangian and Hamiltonian formalism for the systems with finite degree of freedom and for fields, Geometric Optics, the Hamilton-Jacobi equation and WKB approximation, Noether theory of invariants including the theorem on currents, four conservation laws (energy, momentum, angular momentum and charge), Lie algebra of angular momentum and spherical functions, scattering theory (limiting amplitude principle and limiting absorption principle), the Lienard-Wiechert formulas, Lorentz group and Lorentz formulas, Pauli theorem and relativistic covariance of the Dirac equation, etc. We give a detailed oveview of the conceptual development of the quantum mechanics, and expose main achievements of the ``old quantum mechanics'' in the form of exercises. One of our basic aim in writing this book, is an open and concrete discussion of the problem of a mathematical description of the following two fundamental quantum phenomena: i) Bohr's quantum transitions and ii) de Broglie's wave-particle duality. Both phenomena cannot be described by autonomous linear dynamical equations, and we give them a new mathematical treatment related with recent progress in the theory of global attractors of nonlinear hyperbolic PDEs.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The core problem that this paper attempts to solve is to provide new mathematical treatment methods for two fundamental phenomena in quantum mechanics: Bohr's quantum transitions and de Broglie's wave - particle duality. Specifically, the author believes that these two phenomena cannot be described by traditional linear dynamic equations, but rather require the introduction of non - linear coupling equations. ### Main Objectives of the Paper 1. **Bohr's Quantum Transitions**: - The author proposes that quantum transitions can be understood as the long - time asymptotic behavior of solutions to the coupled Maxwell - Schrödinger equations or Maxwell - Dirac equations. These equations describe the interaction between the electron wave function and the electromagnetic field. - Mathematically, this can be represented by the following asymptotic formula: \[ (\psi(t, x), A(t, x)) \sim (\psi_\pm(x) e^{-i\omega_\pm t}, A_\pm(x)), \quad t \to \pm\infty \] where \(A(t, x) = (\phi(t, x), A(t, x))\) and the limit functions correspond to the quantum stable states \(|E_\pm\rangle\). 2. **de Broglie's Wave - Particle Duality**: - Young particles seem to correspond to traveling waves (or "solitons"), which are solutions to the coupled equations in the form of: \[ (\psi(x - vt) e^{i\Phi(v, x, t)}, A(x - vt)) \] - Wave - particle duality can be interpreted as the soliton - type asymptotic behavior: \[ (\psi(t, x), A(t, x)) \sim \sum_k (\psi_k^\pm(x - v_k^\pm t) e^{i\Phi(v_k^\pm, x, t)}, A_k^\pm(x - v_k^\pm t)), \quad t \to \pm\infty \] ### Main Contributions - **Application of Non - linear Coupling Equations**: The author suggests using non - linear Maxwell - Schrödinger or Maxwell - Dirac equations to describe quantum phenomena instead of the traditional linear Schrödinger equation. - **Long - time Asymptotic Behavior**: By analyzing the long - time asymptotic behavior, the author proposes a new framework for understanding quantum transitions and wave - particle duality. - **Unified Mathematical Strategy**: This paper aims to provide a unified mathematical treatment method for different quantum mechanics problems, making theoretical applications more transparent and consistent. ### Conclusion The main purpose of the paper is to provide new mathematical explanations for two fundamental phenomena in quantum mechanics - quantum transitions and wave - particle duality - by introducing non - linear coupling equations. This method not only helps to understand the essence of these phenomena but also provides a new perspective for the further development of quantum mechanics.
