Abstract:Consider a quasi-linear system of two Klein–Gordon equations with masses m1, m2. We prove that when m1≠2m2 and m2≠2m1, such a system has global solutions for small, smooth, compactly supported Cauchy data. This extends a result proved by Sunagawa (J. Differential Equations 192 (2) (2003) 308) in the semi-linear case. Moreover, we show that global existence holds true also when m1=2m2 and a convenient null condition is satisfied by the nonlinearities.

Abstract:We show that the solution to the semi-linear Klein–Gordon equation on the circle with a nonlinearity satisfying a convenient condition, exists almost globally, for almost every positive mass, provided that it is either even or odd as a function of the space variable. We also show, that if the nonlinearity is independent of the space derivative of the unknown and if it is also even as a function of the time derivative, then the solution exists almost globally, for almost every positive mass. The results are based on the method of normal forms. The difficulty is to find a structure of the nonlinearity so that the process of normal forms can be performed up to any order.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish the existence and uniqueness theorem of entire solutions to the Lagrangian mean curvature equations with prescribed asymptotic behavior at infinity. The phase functions are assumed to be supercritical and converge to a constant in a certain rate at infinity. The basic idea is to establish uniform estimates for the approximating problems defined on bounded domains and the main ingredient is to construct appropriate subsolutions and supersolutions as barrier functions. We also prove a nonexistence result to show the convergence rate of the phase functions is optimal.

Abstract:For any subcritical index of regularity s > 3/2, we prove the almost global well posedness for the 2-dimensional semilinear wave equation with the cubic nonlinearity in the derivatives, when the initial data are small in the Sobolev space H s × H s−1 with certain angular regularity. The lifespan is known to be sharp in general. The main new ingredient in the proof is an endpoint version of the generalized Strichartz estimates in the space . In the last section, we also consider the general semilinear wave equations with the spatial dimension n ≥ 2 and the order of nonlinearity p ≥ 3.
On Global-in-time Chaotic Weak Solutions of the Liouville Equation for Hard Spheres

Abstract:We outline a new method of construction of global-in-time weak solutions of the Liouville equation - and also of the associated BBGKY hierarchy - corresponding to the hard sphere singular Hamiltonian. Our method makes use only of geometric reflection arguments on phase space. As a consequence of our method, in the case of $N=2$ hard spheres, we show for any chaotic initial data, the unique global-in-time weak solution $F$ of the Liouville equation is realised as $F=\mathsf{R}(f\otimes f)$ in the sense of tempered distributions on $T\mathbb{R}^{6}\times (-\infty, \infty)$, where $\mathsf{R}$ is a 'reflection-type' operator on Schwartz space, and $f$ is a global-in-time classical solution of the 1-particle free transport Liouville equation on $T\mathbb{R}^{3}$.

Abstract:We consider the Cauchy problem to the 3D fractional Schrödinger equation with quadratic interaction of $u\bar u$ type. We prove the global existence of solutions and scattering properties for small initial data. For the proof, one novelty is that we combine the normal form methods and the space-time resonance methods. Using the normal form transform enables us more flexibilities in designing the resolution spaces so that we can control various interactions. It is also convenient for the final data problem.

The Neumann problem of special Lagrangian type equations

Abstract:We study the Neumann problem for special Lagrangian type equations with critical and supercritical phases. These equations naturally generalize the special Lagrangian equation and the k-Hessian equation. By establishing uniform a priori estimates up to the second order, we obtain the existence result using the continuity method. The new technical aspect is our direct proof of boundary double normal derivative estimates. In particular, we directly prove the double normal estimates for the 2-Hessian equation in dimension 3. Moreover, we solve the classical Neumann problem by proving the uniform gradient estimate.

Abstract:In this work, we prove global well-posedness and scattering for systems of quadratic nonlinear Schrödinger equations in the critical three-dimensional case, for small, localized data. For the terms corresponding to the nonlinearity $u\bar{u}$, we need to do an $\epsilon$ regularization of this part of the nonlinearity. In order to tackle quadratic space-time resonances, after performing a Littlewood-Paley decomposition, we use integration by parts in the Duhamel term, to take advantage of the oscillations when space-time resonances are absent.

Abstract:For a kind of quasilinear hyperbolic systems in several space variables whose coefficient matrices commute each other, by means of normalized coordinates, formulas of wave decomposition and pointwise decay estimates, the global existence of classical solution to the Cauchy problem for small and decaying initial data is obtained, under hypotheses of weak linear degeneracy and weakly strict hyperbolicity.

Abstract:Constant rank theorems are obtained for saddle solutions to the special Lagrangian equation and the quadratic Hessian equation. The argument also leads to Liouville type results for the special Lagrangian equation with subcritical phase, matching the known rigidity results for semiconvex entire solutions to the quadratic Hessian equation.

Abstract:In this paper, we get a Liouville type theorem for the special Lagrangian equation with a certain ’convexity’ condition, where Warren–Yuan first studied the condition in (Comm Partial Differ Equ 33(4–6):922–932, 2008). Based on Warren–Yuan’s work, our strategy is to show a global Hessian estimate of solutions via the Neumann–Poincar é inequality on special Lagrangian graphs, and mean value inequality for superharmonic functions on these graphs, where we need geometric measure theory. Moreover, we derive interior Hessian estimates on the gradient of the solutions to the equation with this ’convexity’ condition or with supercritical phase.

Abstract:In this paper we construct global weak conservative solutions of the Camassa-Holm equation on the periodic domain. We first express the equation in Lagrangian flow variable $\eta$ and then transform it using a change of variable $\rho=\sqrt{\eta_x}$. The new variable removes the singularity of the CH equation, and we obtain both the global weak conservative solution and global spatial smoothness of the Lagrangian trajectories of the CH equation. This work is motivated by J. Lenells who proved similar results for the Hunter-Saxton equation using the geometric interpretation.

Abstract:Let $(X,\alpha)$ be a Kahler manifold of dimension n, and let $[\omega] \in H^{1,1}(X,\mathbb{R})$. We study the problem of specifying the Lagrangian phase of $\omega$ with respect to $\alpha$, which is described by the nonlinear elliptic equation \[ \sum_{i=1}^{n} \arctan(\lambda_i)= h(x) \] where $\lambda_i$ are the eigenvalues of $\omega$ with respect to $\alpha$. When $h(x)$ is a topological constant, this equation corresponds to the deformed Hermitian-Yang-Mills (dHYM) equation, and is related by Mirror Symmetry to the existence of special Lagrangian submanifolds of the mirror. We introduce a notion of subsolution for this equation, and prove a priori $C^{2,\beta}$ estimates when $|h|>(n-2)\frac{\pi}{2}$ and a subsolution exists. Using the method of continuity we show that the dHYM equation admits a smooth solution in the supercritical phase case, whenever a subsolution exists. Finally, we discover some stability-type cohomological obstructions to the existence of solutions to the dHYM equation and we conjecture that when these obstructions vanish the dHYM equation admits a solution. We confirm this conjecture for complex surfaces.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the following Schrödinger equation: where , , , and appears as a Lagrange multiplier. Assume that the nonlinear term f satisfies conditions only in a neighborhood of zero. For f has a subcritical growth, we prove the existence of the positive normalized solution for the equation with sufficiently small . For f has a supercritical growth, we derive the existence of the positive normalized solution for the equation with large enough. In addition, we also obtain infinitely many normalized solutions with sufficiently small for the subcritical case.
