Abstract:The short time dynamic behavior of the second-order phase transition in the two-dimensional fully frustrated XY model with nearest-neighbor (NN) and next-nearest-neighbor (NNN) couplings is investigated using Monte Carlo simulations. When x< 12 (x is the ratio between NNN and NN couplings), the transition temperature T-c and the dynamic and static critical exponents z, 2 beta/nu, and nu are estimated using the short-time dynamic scaling analysis. Except x close to the critical value 1/root2, the critical exponents 2 beta/nu and nu are found to be almost independent of the NNN coupling, indicating that the second-order phase transitions in the FFXY model, with or without NNN coupling. are in the same universality class. When x > 1/root2, the short-time dynamic study suggests that there is no second-order phase transition, in agreement with the previous result.

Abstract:The nonextensivity of a classical long-range Hamiltonian system is discussed. The system is the so-called $\alpha$-XY model, a lattice of inertial rotators with an adjustable parameter $\alpha$ controlling the range of the interactions. This model has been explored in detail over the last years. For sufficiently long-range interactions, namely $\alpha<d$, where $d$ is the lattice dimension, it was shown to be nonextensive and to exhibit a second order phase transition. However, conclusions in apparent contradiction with the findings above have also been drawn. This picture reveals the fact that there are aspects of the model that remain poorly understood. Here we perform a thorough analysis, essaying an explanation for the origin of the apparent discrepancies.

The non-classical regime of the two-dimensional long-range XY model: a comprehensive Monte Carlo study

Abstract:The interplay between short-range (SR) and long-range (LR) universal behaviors remains a fundamental topic in studying long-range interacting systems. The interaction between LR coupling and the Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless (BKT) mechanism introduces significant complexity, especially in the two-dimensional (2D) XY model, which is crucial for exploring low-dimensional phenomena and their implications for quantum computation. In the paper [<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2404.08498" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2404.08498">arXiv:2404.08498</a>], we investigated the 2D XY model with algebraically decaying interactions of the form $1/r^{2+\sigma}$. Our findings demonstrated continuous phase transitions into a ferromagnetic phase for $\sigma \leq 2$, characterized by the emergence of long-range order. In the ferromagnetic phase, for $\sigma<2$, we identified a power-law decaying correlation function attributed to the Goldstone mode, and for $\sigma=2$, logarithmic behaviors were observed. In this supplemental paper, we provide a comprehensive explanation of the detailed methodology, additional simulation results, and further insights into the above phenomena. It enhances our understanding of the crossover between SR and LR behaviors and has practical implications for experimental systems, such as Rydberg atom arrays.

Abstract:We derive several closed-form expressions for the fidelity susceptibility (FS) of the anisotropic XY model in the transverse field. The basic idea lies in a partial fraction expansion of the expression so that all the terms are related to a simple fraction or its derivative. The critical points of the model are reiterated by the FS, demonstrating its validity for characterizing the phase transitions. Moreover, the critical exponents ν associated with the correlation length in both critical regions are successfully extracted by the standard finite-size scaling analysis.
A solvable non-unitary fermionic long-range model with extended symmetry

Abstract:We define and study a long-range version of the XX model, arising as the free-fermion point of the XXZ-type Haldane--Shastry (HS) chain. It has a description via non-unitary fermions, based on the free-fermion Temperley--Lieb algebra, and may also be viewed as an alternating $\mathfrak{gl}(1|1)$ spin chain. Even and odd length behave very differently; we focus on odd length. The model is integrable, and we explicitly identify two commuting hamiltonians. While non-unitary, their spectrum is real by PT-symmetry. One hamiltonian is chiral and quadratic in fermions, while the other is parity-invariant and quartic. Their one-particle spectra have two linear branches, realising a massless relativistic dispersion on the lattice. The appropriate fermionic modes arise from 'quasi-translation' symmetry, which replaces ordinary translation symmetry. The model exhibits exclusion statistics, like the isotropic HS chain, with even more 'extended symmetry' and larger degeneracies.

Abstract:This paper gives an extended model of the atomic nucleus - we call it the YY model, which allows a new description for strong forces from the well-known Standard Model. The forces that hold the nucleus together (protons and neutrons) can be expressed in a new way. Based on the YY model, more structural description details for an atomic nucleus will be possible than is the case with the conventional description. The YY model is compatible with the standard model. However, it allows for very delicate considerations when modelling the distribution of protons and neutrons within or around an atomic nucleus. Furthermore, it can explain many subatomic processes in an elegant way. The YY model predicts some subatomic aspects that can be explored in a deeper step. Our approach also includes a native common root for the description of macrophysics (space, dark matter and cosmology). Following a model-driven approach - a methodology widely used in computer science and informatics - the investigations in this paper will completely dispense with mathematical formulations. In addition, energy balances in the transformations are left out. Many different aspects that can be derived from this new mechanism can then be verified. We hope to gain the confidence of many other physicists in the YY model. They could make detailed theoretical and experimental verifications by adding additional descriptive elements and linking the YY model to the known quantum field theories and the widely accepted big bang theories for space and cosmology, especially for research on dark matter.

Abstract:We study a class of long-range solvable models in IR limit which corresponds to a one-dimensional long-range conformal manifold. This class of long-range model can be interpreted as the non-unitary interpolation between the Sachdev-Ye-Kiteav-like model and the free theory. We investigate the chaos and information scrambling of the model by analyzing its out-of-time order correlators. We find the suppression of the Lyapunov exponent by the long-range interaction and a slowdown in butterfly velocity in the emergent light cone which can be interpreted as the contribution from the anomalous dimension of the stress tensor in the spectrum. We further study a Yukawa-SYK model located in a 3-dimensional boundary with a free field living in a 4-dimensional bulk. The boundary IR spectrum of the model contains a tower of the spinning operators protected by the higher spin symmetry of the bulk. We evaluate the central charge and the Lyapunov exponent of the model.

Abstract:We calculate various CFT data for the $O(N)$ vector model with the long-range interaction, working at the next-to-leading order in the $1/N$ expansion. Our results provide additional evidence for the existence of conformal symmetry at the long-range fixed point, as well as the continuity of the CFT data at the long-range to short-range crossover point $s_\star$ of the exponent parameter $s$. We also develop the $N>1$ generalization of the recently proposed IR duality between the long-range and the deformed short-range models, providing further evidence for its non-perturbative validity in the entire region $d/2<s<s_\star$.

On Real Time Dynamics of Large $N$ Models

Abstract:We analyze the real-time dynamics of the large $N$ vector model, focusing on heavy states with energies of the order $N$. In this regime, we demonstrate that interactions become sufficiently strong to produce non-zero condensate of the Hubbard-Stratonovich field $\sigma$, which, in turn, induces particle production. This process leads to a significant transformation of the initial state and potential thermalization. For homogeneous perturbations, our results show that the equations become integrable, yet can still lead to thermalization in the continuum limit. Furthermore, we calculate the energies of these heavy states and their contributions to the thermal free energy, thereby determining the free energy of the critical $O(N)$ model by operator counting.

Two-dimensional XY Ferromagnet Induced by Long-range Interaction

Abstract:The crossover between short-range and long-range (LR) universal behaviors remains a central theme in the physics of long-range interacting systems. The competition between LR coupling and the Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless mechanism makes the problem more subtle and less understood in the two-dimensional (2D) XY model, a cornerstone for investigating low-dimensional phenomena and their implications in quantum computation. We study the 2D XY model with algebraically decaying interaction $\sim1/r^{2+\sigma}$. Utilizing an advanced update strategy, we conduct large-scale Monte Carlo simulations of the model up to a linear size of $L=8192$. Our results demonstrate continuous phase transitions into a ferromagnetic phase for $\sigma \leq 2$, which exhibits the simultaneous emergence of a long-ranged order and a power-law decaying correlation function due to the Goldstone mode. Furthermore, we find logarithmic scaling behaviors in the low-temperature phase at $\sigma = 2$. The observed scaling behaviors in the low-temperature phase for $\sigma \le 2$ agree with our theoretical analysis. Our findings request further theoretical understandings and can be of practical application in cutting-edge experiments like Rydberg atom arrays.

Emergent Anomalous Hydrodynamics at Infinite Temperature in a Long-Range XXZ Model

Abstract:The conventional wisdom suggests that transports of conserved quantities in non-integrable quantum many-body systems at high temperatures are diffusive. However, we discover a counterexample of this paradigm by uncovering anomalous hydrodynamics in a spin-1/2 XXZ chain with power-law couplings. This model, classified as non-integrable due to its Wigner-Dyson level-spacing statistics in the random matrix theory, exhibits a surprising superdiffusive-ballistic-superdiffusive transport transition by varying the power-law exponent of couplings for a fixed anisotropy. Our findings are verified by multiple observables, including the spin-spin autocorrelator, mean-square displacement, and spin conductivity. Interestingly, we further quantify the degree of quantum chaos using the Kullback-Leibler divergence between the entanglement entropy distributions of the model's eigenstates and a random state. Remarkably, an observed local maximum in the divergence near the transition boundary suggests a link between anomalous hydrodynamics and a suppression of quantum chaos. This work offers another deep understanding of emergent anomalous transport phenomena in a wider range of non-integrable quantum many-body systems

Such subleading contributions are captured by the fluctuations of the Hubbard-Stratonovich auxiliary field which need to be handled with care due to a subtle divergence structure which we clarify. The examples we consider include the scalar O ( N ) model, the Gross-Neveu model, the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model and the massless Chern-Simons Quantum Electrodynamics. We present explicit results for the free energy density to the subleading order in , which captures the thermal one-point function of the stress-energy tensor to this order. We also include the dependence on a chemical potential. We determine the Wilson coefficient in the thermal effective action that is sensitive to global symmetry for the first time directly in interacting CFTs, which produces a symmetry-resolved asymptotic density of states. We further provide a formula from diagrammatics for the one-point functions of general single-trace higher-spin currents. We observe that in most cases considered, these subleading effects lift the apparent degeneracies between observables in different models at infinite N , while in special cases the discrepancies only start to appear at the next-to-subleading order.

Effect of nonlinearity of discrete Langevin model on behavior of extremes in generated time series

Abstract:In this work we analyze the influence of nonlinearity on the behavior of extremal values of time series generated by two discrete Langevin models: fixing the diffusion function in the first (M1), the probability distribution function in the second (M2). The extremes were generated by applying the run theory. A mathematical relationship was found between nonlinearity of models and means and distributions of run lengths and inter-extreme times as well as with the clustering of extremes. Furthermore, the Allan factor curves of the extremes suggest that the sequences of extremes are fractal for timescales up to the mean inter-extreme time. Our main findings are that the variation of the nonlinearity parameter in model M1 (leading to the increase of the distribution tail length) can cause a significant variation of the extreme characteristics and an increase of the clustering while the variation of the nonlinearity parameter in model M2 (with fixed distribution) has a little effect on extremes.

Empirical large-scale extension of Yakhot's model of strong turbulence

Abstract:We propose an empirical extension of Yakhot's model of strong turbulence [V. Yakhot, Phys. Rev. E 57(2) (1998)] that correctly describes the statistics of longitudinal velocity increments not only in the inertial range but also for larger scales up to the system length scale L. Two additional parameters are introduced to the original equation for the probability density function of velocity increments. These parameters can be motivated by physical arguments and their values are fixed by large scale boundary conditions. The resultant model ensures correct convergence of structure functions at the system length scale, including vanishing slopes at L, and shows good agreement with experimental data.

Abstract:We study the equilibrium properties of the spin-$1/2$ XY chain with an infinite-range transverse interaction. At zero temperature, competition between the XY- and the $z$-ordered phases induced by the infinite-range interactions gives rise to a first-order transition upon increasing the transverse coupling. We show that the two gapless points of the XY model behave in fundamentally different ways: isotropic spin chains experience a first-order transition at finite coupling; maximal anisotropic chains overcome a non-algebraic phase transition at zero coupling strength. The phase diagram depicts a first-order reentrant transition that turns second-order along a tricritical line separating a paramagnetic phase from an ordered one at finite temperature. The mean-field approach captures the local properties of the eigenstates and reveals the appearance of a magnetization gap in the spectrum. Global properties, e.g., entanglement entropy, are well approximated only at spectral boundaries. The mean entanglement entropy and the level-spacing ratio deviate from the Gaussian results, revealing the interacting nature of the problem.

Extensive Long-Range Entanglement in a Nonequilibrium Steady State

Abstract:Entanglement measures constitute powerful tools in the quantitative description of quantum many-body systems out of equilibrium. We study entanglement in the current-carrying steady state of a paradigmatic one-dimensional model of noninteracting fermions at zero temperature in the presence of a scatterer. We show that disjoint intervals located on opposite sides of the scatterer, and within similar distances from it, maintain volume-law entanglement regardless of their separation, as measured by their fermionic negativity and coherent information. The mutual information of the intervals, which quantifies the total correlations between them, follows a similar scaling. Interestingly, this scaling entails in particular that if the position of one of the intervals is kept fixed, then the correlation measures depend non-monotonically on the distance between the intervals. By deriving exact expressions for the extensive terms of these quantities, we prove their simple functional dependence on the scattering probabilities, and demonstrate that the strong long-range entanglement is generated by the coherence between the transmitted and reflected parts of propagating particles within the bias-voltage window. The generality and simplicity of the model suggest that this behavior should characterize a large class of nonequilibrium steady states.
