Abstract:Quantum and classical pairwise correlations in two typical collective spin systems (i.e., the Dicke model and the Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick model) are discussed. These correlations in the thermodynamical limit are obtained analytically and in a finite-size system are calculated numerically. Large-size scaling behavior for the quantum discord itself is observed, which has never been reported in another critical system. A logarithmic diverging behavior for the first derivative of the quantum discord is also found in both models, which might be universal in the second-order quantum phase transition. It is suggested that the pronounced maximum or minimum of first derivative of quantum discord signifies the critical point. Comparisons between the quantum discord and the scaled concurrence are performed. It is shown that the quantum discord is very small in one phase and robust in the other phase, while the scaled concurrence shows maximum at the critical point and decays rapidly when away from the the critical point.

Abstract:We investigate the quantum coherence of an XY spin chain with Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction using a quantum renormalization group-based method, and show that the relative entropy of coherence increases with Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction strength at zero temperature, as well as at finite temperature. We also study the quantum criticality of the system by making use of the relative entropy of coherence and violation of Bell inequality, and find that the first derivatives of the renormalized quantum coherence exhibit singularity near the critical point of the quantum phase transition. Finally, we explore the finite-size scaling behaviors of the derivatives of the quantum coherence at the critical point of the quantum phase transition, and obtain several universal finite-size scaling laws.

Abstract:We study the thermodynamics of an XYZ Heisenberg chain with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction, which describes the low-energy behaviors of a one-dimensional spin-orbit-coupled bosonic model in the deep insulating region. The entropy and the specific heat are calculated numerically by the quasi-exact transfer-matrix renormalization group. In particular, in the limit $U^\prime/U\rightarrow\infty$, our model is exactly solvable and thus serves as a benchmark for our numerical method. From our data, we find that for $U^\prime/U>1$ a quantum phase transition between an (anti)ferromagnetic phase and a Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid phase occurs at a finite $\theta$, while for $U^\prime/U<1$ a transition between a ferromagnetic phase and a paramagnetic phase happens at $\theta=0$. A refined ground-state phase diagram is then deduced from their low-temperature behaviors. Our findings provide an alternative way to detect those distinguishable phases experimentally.

Abstract:The thermal quantum discord (QD) is studied in a two-qubit Heisenberg XXZ system with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction. We compare the thermal QD with thermal entanglement in this system and find remarkable differences between them. For instance, we show situations where QD decreases asymptotically to zero with temperature T while entanglement decreases to zero at the point of critical temperature, situations where QD decreases with certain tunable parameters such as D-z and D-x when entanglement increases. We find that the characteristic of QD is exotic in this system and this possibly offers a potential solution to enhance entanglement of a system. We also show that tunable parameter D-x is more efficient than parameter D-z in most regions for controlling the QD.

Abstract:. Starting from a general Hamiltonian which may undergo a quantum phase transition (QPT) with the change of a controllable parameter, we obtain a general conclusion that in a sudden quench system, when the final Hamiltonian is fixed, the behavior of the time-averaged expectation of any observable has close relationship with the gapless excitation of the initial Hamiltonian. To clarify our conclusion, we investigate the two-spin correlation of a XY chain in a transverse field under a sudden quench at zero temperature. The critical property of the derivative of quench two-spin correlation and the long-range correlation of the quench system are analyzed.

Abstract:Pairwise quantum discord (QD) and classical correlation (CC) are studied in the XY spin chain with three-spin interaction. We analyze their capability in detecting quantum phase transitions (QPTs) at both zero and finite temperatures and find that the pairwise QD of two neighboring spins is more reliable than that of any other distances in identifying QPTs. Both the QD and CC detect quantum critical points associated with first- and higher-order QPTs caused by field and three-spin interactions at finite temperatures. In addition, we find a different finite-size scaling behavior for QD from previous reports for the transverse field Ising case and show some interesting phenomena of QD and entanglement of formation for finite temperatures.
Thermal form-factor approach to dynamical correlation functions of integrable lattice models

Abstract:We propose a method for calculating dynamical correlation functions at finite temperature in integrable lattice models of Yang-Baxter type. The method is based on an expansion of the correlation functions as a series over matrix elements of a time-dependent quantum transfer matrix rather than the Hamiltonian. In the infinite Trotter-number limit the matrix elements become time independent and turn into the thermal form factors studied previously in the context of static correlation functions. We make this explicit with the example of the XXZ model. We show how the form factors can be summed utilizing certain auxiliary functions solving finite sets of nonlinear integral equations. The case of the XX model is worked out in more detail leading to a novel form-factor series representation of the dynamical transverse two-point function.

Abstract:A special limit of an antiferromagnetic XYZ chain was recently shown to exhibit interesting bulk as well as surface spin-flop transitions at T=0. Here we provide a complete calculation of the thermodynamics of the bulk transition using a transfer-matrix-renormalization-group (TMRG) method that addresses directly the thermodynamic limit of quantum spin chains. We also shed some light on certain spinwave anomalies at low temperature predicted earlier by Johnson and Bonner.
Global quantum correlations in finite-size spin chains

Abstract:We perform an extensive study of the properties of global quantum correlations in finite-size one-dimensional quantum spin models at finite temperature. By adopting a recently proposed measure for global quantum correlations [C. C. Rulli, and M. S. Sarandy, Phys. Rev. A, 84, 042109 (2011)], called global discord, we show that critical points can be neatly detected even for many-body systems that are not in their ground state. We consider the transverse Ising model, the cluster-Ising model where three-body couplings compete with an Ising-like interaction, and the nearest-neighbor XX Hamiltonian in transverse magnetic field. These models embody our canonical examples showing the sensitivity of global quantum discord close to criticality. For the Ising model, we find a universal scaling of global discord with the critical exponents pertaining to the Ising universality class.

Abstract:A bstract Based on its off-diagonal Bethe ansatz solution, we study the thermodynamic limit of the spin- $$ \frac{1}{2} $$ 1 2 XYZ spin chain with the antiperiodic boundary condition. The key point of our method is that there exist some degenerate points of the crossing parameter η m,l , at which the associated inhomogeneous T − Q relation becomes a homogeneous one. This makes extrapolating the formulae deriving from the homogeneous one to an arbitrary η with O ( N − 2 ) corrections for a large N possible. The ground state energy and elementary excitations of the system are obtained. By taking the trigonometric limit, we also give the results of antiperiodic XXZ spin chain within the gapless region in the thermodynamic limit, which does not have any degenerate points.

Abstract:In the thermodynamic limit, we present an exactcalculation of the time dynamics of a central spin coupling withits environment at finite temperatures. The interactions belong tothe Heisenberg XY type. The case of an environment with finitenumber of spins is also discussed. To get the reduced densitymatrix, we use a novel operator technique which is mathematicallysimple and physically clear, and allows us to treat systems andenvironments that could all be strongly coupled mutually andinternally. The expectation value of the central spin and the vonNeumann entropy are obtained.
Quantum-critical and dynamical properties of the XXZ bilayer with long-range interactions

Abstract:We study the XXZ square lattice bilayer model with antiferromagnetic non-frustrating long-range interactions that decay as a power law with the distance. Employing large-scale high-order series expansions with classical Monte Carlo integration (pCUT+MC) about the limit of isolated Heisenberg dimers in the rung-singlet phase, we investigate the one-triplon dispersion and the corresponding spectral weight along the parameter axes of the long-range decay exponent and the XXZ anisotropy. By tuning the latter, we observe two extended regions of 3d XY and Ising universality as well as 3d Heisenberg critical exponents at the isotropic point. Along the decay exponent axis, we demonstrate mean-field behavior for strong long-range couplings, the aforementioned three universality classes for sufficiently weak interactions, and continuously varying critical exponents in-between. Using extrapolations we are able to determine the one-triplon dispersion in a quantitative fashion up to the quantum-critical breakdown of the rung-singlet phase. This allows to extract the dynamical critical exponent $z$ as a function of the decay exponent, displaying a universal behavior. The detected $z<1$ for small decay exponents is in agreement with the expected properties of the anomalous Goldstone modes in the ordered phases with broken continuous symmetry.

Abstract:We study the dynamics and the asymptotic behaviors of quantum discord in a one-dimensional XY model coupled through time-dependent nearest-neighbor interactions and in the presence of a time-dependent magnetic field. We find that the time evolution of the nearest-neighbor quantum discord in this system shows non-ergodic behaviors but is asymptotic to its steady value at the long-time limit. The zero-temperature asymptotic behaviors of quantum discord is only determined by the ratio between the coupling parameter and magnetic field, whereas the finite-temperature asymptotic behaviors determined by both of them. These asymptotic behaviors are sensitive not only to the initial values of the coupling parameter and magnetic field, but also to the final values. It is interesting to note that quantum discords are more robust than entanglement against the effect of temperature. We also find particular parameter regimes, where the nearest-neighbor quantum discord is enhanced significantly.

Low-temperature spectrum of the quantum transfer matrix of the XXZ chain in the massless regime

Abstract:The free energy per lattice site of a quantum spin chain in the thermodynamic limit is determined by a single `dominant' Eigenvalue of an associated quantum transfer matrix in the infinite Trotter number limit. For integrable quantum spin chains, related with solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation, an appropriate choice of the quantum transfer matrix enables to study its spectrum, e.g.\ by means of the algebraic Bethe Ansatz. In its turn, the knowledge of the full spectrum allows one to study its universality properties such as the appearance of a conformal spectrum in the low-temperature regime. More generally, accessing the full spectrum is a necessary step for deriving thermal form factor series representations of the correlation functions of local operators for the spin chain under consideration. These are statements that have been established by physicists on a heuristic level and that are calling for a rigorous mathematical justification. In this work we implement certain aspects of this programme with the example of the XXZ quantum spin chain in the antiferromagnetic massless regime and in the low-temperature limit. We rigorously establish the existence, uniqueness and characterise the form of the solutions to the non-linear integral equations that are equivalent to the Bethe Ansatz equations for the quantum transfer matrix of this model. This allows us to describe that part of the quantum transfer matrix spectrum that is related to the Bethe Ansatz and that does not collapse to zero in the infinite Trotter number limit. Within the considered part of the spectrum we rigorously identify the dominant Eigenvalue and show that those correlations lengths that diverge in the low-temperature limit are given, to the leading order, by the spectrum of the free Boson $c=1$ conformal field theory. This rigorously establishes a long-standing conjecture present in the physics literature.

Abstract:Quantum correlations (including entanglement and quantum discord) of two qubits symmetrically coupled to the surrounding XY spin chain in the presence of a transverse magnetic field are studied. We investigate the dynamic evolution of the quantum correlations of the two qubits when the surrounding spin chain is in the thermal equilibrium state. Numerical results show that the thermal effects can accelerate the decay process of the quantum correlations if the initial state of the composite system is not in the decoherence free space. When the temperature is high enough, the quantum phase transition driven by the external magnetic field completely disappear.

Based on our results, we compare the differences and show the relations between the three types of quantum correlations in this long range interaction model.

Abstract:Bell correlations are among the most exotic phenomena through which quantum mechanics manifests itself. Their presence signals that the system can violate the postulates of local realism, once believed to be the nonnegotiable property of the physical world. The importance of Bell correlations from this fundamental point of view is even straightened by their applications -- ranging from quantum cryptography through quantum metrology to quantum computing. Hence it is of growing interest to characterize the ``Bell content'' of complex, scalable many-body systems. Here we perform the detailed analysis of the character and strength of many-body Bell correlations in interacting multi-qubit systems with particle-exchange symmetry. Such configuration can be mapped onto an effective Schrödinger-like equation, which allows for precise analytical predictions. We show that in the vicinity of the quantum critical point, these correlations quickly become so strong that only a fraction of qubits remains uncorrelated. We also identify the threshold temperature, which, once overpassed, empowers thermal fluctuations that destroy Bell correlations in the system. We hope that the approach presented here, due to its universality, could be useful for the upcoming research on genuinely nonclassical Bell-correlated complex systems.

Abstract:In this paper, we study quantum correlations in a Heisenberg XYZ model with the Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction based on the Sharma–Mittal quantum discord and its limiting cases. The results obtained show that the Sharma–Mittal quantum discord is a faithful quantifier and that the Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction significantly enhances quantum correlations within the bipartite system. In contrast, temperature has the opposite effect, leading to a reduction in the quantity of quantum correlations in the system.

Abstract:This work proposes a closed formula for the leading term of the long-distance and large-time asymptotics in a cone of the space-like regime for the transverse dynamical two-point functions of the XXZ spin 1/2 chain at finite temperatures. The result follows from a simple analysis of the thermal form factor series for dynamical correlation functions. The leading asymptotics we obtain are driven by the Bethe Ansatz data associated with the first sub-leading Eigenvalue of the quantum transfer matrix.
