Abstract:It is shown that the hydrodynamic interpretation of a charged quantum particle leads to a different theoretical prediction for low energy bremsstrahlung than does quantum electrodynamics (QED). In the calculations, the electromagnetic fields are treated classically in the hydrodynamic case, but are quantized in QED. Calculations show the hydrodynamic model to have a different and more sensitive dependence on the size and shape of the radiating particle's wave packet then does QED. In particular it is shown that bremsstrahlung is sometimes greatly reduced when the force acting on the particle is localized to a volume small compared to the particle's wave packet. QED exhibits no such reduction. Therefore it is possible to test this effect experimentally. An experiment is proposed. It involves an electron microscope with a Wien filter for producing monochromatic beam electrons and an accurate energy measurement of the particle after passing through a local force field.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is: **Verify the differences between the hydrodynamic explanation and quantum electrodynamics (QED) in the prediction of low - energy bremsstrahlung**. Specifically, by comparing the predictions of low - energy bremsstrahlung under the two theoretical frameworks, the author explored the following issues: 1. **Differences in theoretical predictions**: - In the hydrodynamic explanation, the electromagnetic field of charged quantum particles is classically treated, while in QED the electromagnetic field is quantized. - The hydrodynamic model is more sensitive to the size and shape of the particle wave packet. In particular, when a force acts on a part of the wave packet, the bremsstrahlung may be significantly reduced. However, this reduction does not occur in QED. 2. **Possibility of experimental verification**: - The author proposed an experimental setup, using an electron microscope and a Wien filter to generate a monochromatic electron beam and accurately measure the energy loss of particles after passing through a local force field. - The key to the experiment is to prepare an electron beam with a large wave - packet length \( L \) and observe whether its energy loss changes as \( L \) increases. If the hydrodynamic explanation is correct, the energy loss should be proportional to \( 1/L \); if QED is correct, the energy loss should be independent of \( L \). 3. **Scientific significance**: - If the experimental results support the hydrodynamic explanation, this will challenge the traditional radiation theory and may provide a new method for monitoring the wave - packet length. - If the experimental results support QED, the hydrodynamic explanation can be excluded as a possible way to describe nature, or at least non - classical electromagnetic interactions need to be introduced. ### Summary The core problem of this paper is to experimentally verify the differences between the hydrodynamic explanation and QED in the prediction of low - energy bremsstrahlung, thereby providing experimental evidence for the fundamental explanation of quantum mechanics.
