Abstract:Based on 3.26 fb$^{-1}$ data sample collected at CLEO III, we study the decay $\tau^-\to K^+K^-\pi^-\nu_\tau$, and improve the measurement of the branching ratio ${\cal B}(\tau^-\to K^+K^-\pi^-\nu_\tau)= (1.59\pm0.06\pm0.13)\times10^{-3}$, the results are preliminary.

Abstract:Using a sample of 4.7/fb integrated luminosity accumulated with the CLEO II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR), we investigate the mass spectrum and resonant structure in tau->Kpipi decays. We measure the relative fractions of K1(1270) and K1(1400) resonances in these decays, as well as the K1 masses and widths. Our fitted K1 resonances are somewhat broader than previous hadroproduction measurements, and in agreement with recent LEP results from tau decay. The larger central value of our measured width supports models which attribute the small tau->Kpipi branching fraction to larger K1 widths than are presently tabulated. We also determine the Ka-Kb mixing angle theta_K.

Abstract:Three events for the decay K+->pi(+)nu have been observed in the pion momentum region below the K+->pi(+)pi(0) peak, 140 < P-pi < 199 MeV/c, with an estimated background of 0.93 +/- 0.17(stat.)(-0.24)(+0.32)(syst.) events. Combining this observation with previously reported results yields a branching ratio of B(K+->pi(+)nu nu)=(1.73(-1.05)(+1.15))x10(-10) consistent with the standard model prediction.

The new $K_S \rightarrow πe ν$ branching fraction measurement at KLOE

Abstract:A new measurement of the branching fraction for the decay $K_S \rightarrow \pi e \nu$ is presented, based on a sample of 300 million $K_S$ mesons recorded by the KLOE experiment at the DA$\Phi$NE $e^+e^-$ collider. A two-step signal selection strategy is used, exploiting first kinematic variables and then time-of-flight measurements. Data control samples of $K_S \rightarrow \pi e \nu$ decays are used to evaluate signal selection efficiencies. Normalizing the selected sample to the number of $K_S \rightarrow \pi^+ \pi^-$ decay events the result for the branching fraction is $B(K_S \rightarrow \pi e \nu)=(7.211 \pm 0.046 \pm 0.052)\times 10^-4$. The combination with our previous measurement gives $B(K_S \rightarrow \pi e \nu)=(7.153 \pm 0.037 \pm 0.043)\times 10^-4 =(7.153 \pm 0.057)\times 10^-4$. From this value we derive $f^+(0)|Vus|=0.2170 \pm 0.0009$.

Abstract:Using a sample of tagged D(s)(+) decays collected near the D(s)(*+/-)D(s)(-/+) peak production energy in e(+)e(-) collisions with the CLEO-c detector, we study the leptonic decay D(s)(+)-->tau(+)nu(tau) via the decay channel tau(+)-->e(+)nu(e)nu(tau). We measure B(D(s)(+)-->tau(+)nu(tau))=(6.17+/-0.71+/-0.34)%, where the first error is statistical and the second systematic. Combining this result with our measurements of D(s)(+)-->mu(+)nu(mu) and D(s)(+)-->tau(+)nu(tau) (via tau(+)-->pi(+)nu(tau)), we determine f(D(s))=(274+/-10+/-5) MeV.
Comparison of D to K0L pi and D to K0S pi Decay Rates

Abstract:We present preliminary measurements of D to K^0_L pi and D to K^0_S pi branching fractions using 281 pb^{-1} of psi(3770) data at the CLEO-c experiment. We find that BF(D^0 to KS pi^0) is larger than BF(D^0 to KL pi^0), with an asymmetry of R(D^0) = 0.122 +- 0.024 +- 0.030. For BF(D^+ to KS pi^+) and BF(D^+ to KL pi^+), we observe no measureable difference; the asymmetry is R(D^+) = 0.030 +- 0.023 +- 0.025. Under reasonable theoretical assumptions, these measurements imply a value for the D^0 to K^+- pi^-+ strong phase that is consistent with zero. The results presented in this document are preliminary.

Abstract:Analyzing 600/pb of e+e- collisions at 4170 MeV center-of-mass energy with the CLEO-c detector, we measure the branching fraction B(Ds+ -> tau+ nu)=(5.52\pm 0.57\pm 0.21)% using the tau+ -> rho^+ anti-nu decay mode. Combining with other CLEO measurements of B(Ds+ -> tau+ nu) we determine the pseudoscalar decay constant fDs = (259.7\pm 7.8\pm 3.4) MeV consistent with the value obtained from our Ds+ -> mu+ nu measurement of (257.6\pm 10.3\pm 4.3) MeV. Combining these measurements we find a value of fDs=(259.0 \pm 6.2\pm 3.0) MeV, that differs from the most accurate prediction based on unquenched lattice gauge theory of (241\pm 3) MeV by 2.4 standard deviations. We also present the first measurements of B(Ds+ -> K0 pi+ pi0)=(1.00\pm0.18\pm 0.04)%, and B(Ds+ -> pi+ pi0 pi0)=(0.65\pm0.13\pm 0.03)%, and measure a new value for B(Ds+ -> eta rho+)=(8.9\pm0.6\pm0.5)%.

Abstract:We present a measurement of the branching fraction for the doubly-Cabibbo-suppressed decay D+-> K+pi(0), using 281 pb(-1) of data accumulated with the CLEO-c detector on the psi(3770) resonance. We find B(D+-> K+pi(0))=(2.28 +/- 0.36 +/- 0.15 +/- 0.08)x10(-4), where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the last error is due to the uncertainty in the reference mode branching fraction.

Abstract:We present recent measurements of $\tau$ physics at the Belle II experiment at SuperKEKB. Measurements include a test of $e-\mu$ lepton flavor universality in $\tau$ decays, a search for the lepton flavor violating $\tau \rightarrow \mu \mu \mu$ decay and a precision measurement of the $\tau$ lepton invariant mass. In addition, we present a measurement of the low multiplicity decay cross section $\sigma(e^+ e^- \rightarrow \pi^+ \pi^- \pi^0)$, a key input in the theoretical prediction of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon.

Abstract:Using data collected with the CLEO III detector at the CESR e(+)e(-) collider, we report on a first observation of the decay Y(3S) -> tau(+) tau(-), and precisely measure the ratio of branching fractions of Y(nS), n = 1, 2, 3, to tau(+) tau(-) and mu(+) mu(-) final states, finding agreement with expectations from lepton universality. We derive absolute branching fractions for these decays, and also set a limit on the influence of a low mass CP-odd Higgs boson in the decay of the Y(1S).

Abstract:We test whether or not the tau lepton manifests the same couplings as the mu lepton by investigating the relative decay rates in purely leptonic D+ meson decays. Specifically, we place the first upper limit on the ratio R=Gamma(D+ -> tau+ nu)/Gamma(D+ -> mu+ nu). We use 281 inverse pb of data accumulated at the psi(3770) resonance with the CLEO-c detector, to determine B(D+ -> tau+ nu) < 2.1 x 10^(-3) at 90% confidence level (C. L.). The ratio of R to the Standard Model expectation of 2.65 then is <1.8 at 90% C. L., consistent with the prediction of lepton universality.

Abstract:Using 14M psi(2S) events taken with the BES-II detector, chi_cJ-->K+K-K+K- decays are studied. For the four-kaon final state, the branching fractions are B(chi_c0,1,2 -->K+K-K+K-)=(3.48\pm 0.23\pm 0.47)\times 10^{-3}, (0.70\pm 0.13\pm 0.10)\times 10^{-3}, and (2.17\pm 0.20\pm 0.31)\times 10^{-3}. For the \phi K+K- final state, the branching fractions, which are measured for the first time, are B(chi_c0,1,2-->\phi K+K-)=(1.03\pm 0.22\pm 0.15)\times 10^{-3}, (0.46\pm 0.16\pm 0.06)\times 10^{-3}, and (1.67\pm 0.26\pm 0.24)\times 10^{-4}. For the \phi\phi final state, B(chi_{c0,2}-->\phi\phi)=(0.94\pm 0.21\pm 0.13)\times 10^{-3} and (1.70\pm 0.30\pm 0.25)\times 10^{-3}.

Abstract:We develop a methodology for the computation of the $K\to \ell\nu_\ell \ell'^+ \ell'^-$ decay width using lattice QCD and present an exploratory study here. We use a scalar function method to account for the momentum dependence of the decay amplitude and adopt the infinite volume reconstruction method to reduce the systematic errors such as the temporal truncation effects and the finite-volume effects. We then perform a four-body phase-space integral to obtain the decay width. The only remaining technical problem is the possible power-law finite-volume effects associated with the process of $K\to\pi\pi \ell\nu_\ell\to \ell\nu_\ell \ell'^+ \ell'^-$, where the intermediate state involves multiple hadrons. In this work, we use a gauge ensemble of twisted mass fermion with a pion mass $m_\pi=352$ MeV and a nearly-physical kaon mass. At this kinematics, the $\pi\pi$ in the intermediate state cannot be on shell simultaneously as $2m_\pi>m_K$ and the finite-volume effects associated with $\pi\pi$ state are exponentially suppressed. Using the developed methods mentioned above, we calculate the branching ratios for four channels of $K\to \ell\nu_\ell\ell'^+ \ell'^-$, and obtain the results comparable to the experimental measurements and ChPT predictions. Our work demonstrates the capability of lattice QCD to improve Standard Model prediction in $K\to \ell\nu_\ell \ell'^+ \ell'^-$ decay width.

Abstract:In this work, we make a study of the $\tau^- \to \omega\pi^-\nu_\tau$ decay in the framework of low-energy effective field theory. The $J^{\mathcal{P}G}$ decompositions of the quark currents and the $\omega\pi$ final state show that, besides the Standard Model vector interaction, only the non-standard tensor interaction can have a non-zero contribution to the decay. To discuss its effect, a reliable calculation of the $\omega\pi$ tensor form factors is necessary. After constructing the Lagrangian of resonance chiral theory with external tensor sources, we calculate both the vector and tensor form factors with the relevant resonance couplings determined by combining the QCD short-distance constraints, the fit to the spectral function of $\tau^- \to \omega\pi^-\nu_\tau$ decay, as well as the matching between the $\mathcal{O}(p^4)$ odd-intrinsic-parity operators after integrating out the vector resonances and the $\mathcal{O}(p^6)$ operators of chiral perturbation theory. The new physics effect is then investigated in the distributions of the spectral function and the forward-backward asymmetry of $\tau^- \to \omega\pi^-\nu_\tau$ decay. We find that the spectral function is dominated by the Standard Model, and the non-standard tensor contribution is negligible. However, since the forward-backward asymmetry can be only generated with a non-zero tensor interaction, the observable is quite sensitive to this kind of new physics. A future measurement of the observable at the Belle II experiment as well as at the proposed Tera-Z and STCF facilities is, therefore, strongly called for to check the existence of such a non-standard tensor interaction.

Abstract:The branching fraction of the psi(2S) decay into tau(+) tau(-) has been measured for the first time using the BES detector at the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider. The result is B-tautau =(2.71+/-0.43+/-0.55) x 10(-3), where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. This value, along with those for the branching fractions into e(+)c(-) and mu(+)mu(-) of this resonance, satisfy well the relation predicted by the sequential lepton hypothesis. Combining all these values with the leptonic width of the resonance, the total width of the psi(2S) is determined to be (252+/-37) keV.

Abstract:We present measurements of ${\mathcal{R}}_{\mathrm{K}\ensuremath{\ell}3\ensuremath{\gamma}}\ensuremath{\equiv}\ensuremath{\Gamma}({\mathrm{K}}_{\mathrm{L}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}{\ensuremath{\ell}}^{\ensuremath{\mp}}\ensuremath{\nu}\ensuremath{\gamma};{\mathrm{E}}_{\ensuremath{\gamma}}^{\ensuremath{\star}}g10\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{M}\mathrm{e}\mathrm{V})/\ensuremath{\Gamma}({\mathrm{K}}_{\mathrm{L}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}{\ensuremath{\ell}}^{\ensuremath{\mp}}\ensuremath{\nu})$, where $\ensuremath{\ell}=\ensuremath{\mu}$ or $e$, and ${\mathrm{E}}_{\ensuremath{\gamma}}^{\ensuremath{\star}}$ is the photon energy in the kaon rest frame. These measurements are based on ${K}_{L}$ decays collected in 1997 by the KTeV (E832) experiment at Fermilab. With samples of 1385 ${\mathrm{K}}_{\mathrm{L}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}{\ensuremath{\mu}}^{\ensuremath{\mp}}\ensuremath{\nu}\ensuremath{\gamma}$ and 14221 ${\mathrm{K}}_{\mathrm{L}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}{\mathrm{e}}^{\ensuremath{\mp}}\ensuremath{\nu}\ensuremath{\gamma}$ candidates, we find ${\mathcal{R}}_{\mathrm{K}\ensuremath{\mu}3\ensuremath{\gamma}}=(0.530\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.019)%$ and ${\mathcal{R}}_{\mathrm{K}\mathrm{e}3\ensuremath{\gamma}}=(4.942\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.062)%$. We also examine distributions of photon energy and lepton-photon angle.

Partial-wave analysis of $τ^-\toπ^-π^-π^+ν_τ$ at Belle

Abstract:We present preliminary results of a partial-wave analysis of $\tau^-\to\pi^-\pi^-\pi^+\nu_\tau$ in data from the Belle experiment at the KEKB $\mathrm{e}^+\mathrm{e}^-$ collider. We demonstrate the presence of the $\mathrm{a}_1(1420)$ and $\mathrm{a}_1(1640)$ resonances in tauon decays and measure their masses and widths. We also present validation of our findings using a model-independent approach. Our results can improve modeling in simulation studies necessary for measuring the tauon electric and magnetic dipole moments and Michel parameters.

Abstract:Using a sample of 25.9 million psi(2S) decays acquired with the CLEO-c detector at the CESR e^+e^- collider, we report branching fractions for the decays chi_cJ -> p p-bar pi^0, p p-bar eta, and p p-bar omega, with J=0,1,2. Our results for B(chi_cJ-> p p-bar pi^0) and B(chi_cJ-> p p-bar eta) are consistent with, but more precise than, previous measurements. Furthermore, we include the first measurement of B(chi_cJ-> p p-bar omega).

Abstract:Using a large acceptance calorimeter and a stopped pion beam we have made a precise measurement of the rare Pi+ -> Pi0 e+ Nu,(pi_beta) decay branching ratio. We have evaluated the branching ratio by normalizing the number of observed pi_beta decays to the number of observed Pi+ -> e+ Nu, (pi_{e2}) decays. We find the value of Gamma(Pi+ -> Pi0 e+ Nu)/Gamma(total) = [1.036 +/- 0.004(stat.) +/- 0.004(syst.) +/- 0.003(pi_{e2})] x 10^{-8}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic, and the third is the pi_{e2} branching ratio uncertainty. Our result agrees well with the Standard Model prediction.
