Abstract:Measurements of the total reaction cross section for C12-16, N14-17, and O16-18 on carbon target at intermediate energies were performed on the Radioactive Ion Beam Line of the Heavy ion Research Facility in Lanzhou. A larger enhancement of sigma(R) for C-15 was observed than for its neighbors. Evidence for possible anomalous nuclear structure in C-15 was revealed in the analysis of the total reaction cross section in terms of the difference factor d.

Abstract:Measurements of differential photon + c jet and photon + b jet production cross sections are presented using approximately 1 fb-1 of data collected by the D0 detector at the Tevatron proton-antiproton collider at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. Isolated photons are selected in the rapidity range |y| < 1.0 and jets selected with rapidities |y| < 0.8. The measurements are compared to next-to-leading order theoretical predictions.

Abstract:New calculations for the total reaction cross sections and production cross sections of the energetic particles are carried out via the nuclear transport theory. The experimental total reaction cross sections can be reproduced. In addition. the effects of some ingredients on the total reaction cross sections can be easily analyzed. It is found that the total reaction cross sections are sensitive to the nuclear equation of state below 100 MeV/u and the in-medium nucleon-nucleon cross section in the full energy range addressed. While the pi-meson production cross sections can be also calculated.
Probing gluon saturation and nuclear structure in photon-nucleus collisions

Abstract:We calculate exclusive vector meson photoproduction within the Color Glass Condensate framework in high-energy photon-nucleus scattering probed experimentally in ultra peripheral heavy ion collisions at RHIC and at the LHC. When the free parameters are constrained by the $\gamma+p$ data from HERA, we predict significant nuclear suppression for both the coherent and incoherent photoproduction cross section in the TeV range. Our results indicate that the LHC data prefers even stronger saturation effects at the highest collision energies. Furthermore, we demonstrate how the linear polarization of photons in ulra peripheral collisions generates azimuthal modulations in the decay products of the exclusively produced vector meson. We show how these measurements can probe details of the nuclear geometry, specifically the deformed structure of the uranium nuclei.

Abstract:Cross-sections for ${}^{nat}Pb(p,xn){}^{201-207}Bi$, ${}^{204}Pb(p,1-4n){}^{201-204}Bi$ and ${}^{206}Pb(p,3n){}^{204}Bi$ reactions have been determined in the astrophysical energy range $20-30 \, MeV$. The analysis were performed by $\gamma$-spectroscopy associated with half-lives measurements. The results were compared with previously experimental data, when available, and with theoretical calculations performed using TALYS code. We report a possible new $\gamma$ transition from ${}^{204m}{Pb}$ and other theoretical discrepancies, probably due overestimation of the Coulomb barrier and neutron binding energy. Also reported are new determinations of the energies and intensities of the $\gamma$'s emitted in the decays of ${}^{205,206}Bi$. We discuss possible implications for the r/rp-processes in neutrino-driven wind in supernovae and neutron stars mergers.

Abstract:The neutron capture cross section of ^232Th has been measured with the time-of-flight technique in the energy range from 10 to 200 keV at the back-streaming white neutron beam-line (Back-n) of China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS). The pulse height weighting technique (PHWT) was applied with four C _6 D _6 liquid scintillators to measure the prompt gamma-ray energy release following neutron capture. The measurement data, corrected with the PHWT, have been normalized to the saturated resonances at 21.8 eV. The background was determined by a lead sample measurement and detailed Monte Carlo simulations. The ^232Th(n,γ ) average cross sections have been determined relative to the ^197Au(n,γ ) reaction cross sections. The results are consistent with the evaluation values of CENDL-3.2 and JENDL-5. The total uncertainties, including the PHWT, normalization, background subtraction, corrections, and relative measurement, are in the range of 4.5–4.8

Abstract:A systematic set of measurements of the global transverse energy distributions, d\ensuremath{\sigma}/${\mathit{dE}}_{\mathit{T}}$ and ${\mathit{dE}}_{\mathit{T}}$/d\ensuremath{\eta}, from beams of protons, $^{16}\mathrm{O}$ and $^{28}\mathrm{Si}$ at 14.6A GeV/c, incident on targets ranging from Be to Au is presented. The detector was a semicircular array of lead-glass blocks, covering polar angles 9\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}32\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}, whose total response provides a good measure of the produced particle yield in the central rapidity region of these reactions. Proton-nucleus spectra exhibit a similar shape on the high-energy tail, independent of target, suggesting that produced particles in such events arise mostly from the first collision of the projectile proton. For targets heavier than Cu, the high-energy edges of the oxygen-nucleus spectra, and of the silicon-nucleus spectra, reach ratios consistent with the geometry of central collisions. Angular distributions, ${\mathit{dE}}_{\mathit{T}}$/d\ensuremath{\eta}, are characterized by Gaussian fits, and an acceptance-independent form of the differential cross section is found, based on the maximum value of ${\mathit{dE}}_{\mathit{T}}$/d\ensuremath{\eta}. The projectile dependence of nucleus-nucleus spectra is studied in terms of two very different models: simple energy scaling and the wounded projectile nucleon model of p+A convolutions.

Abstract:We report on a measurement of the gamma(1S + 2S + 3S) -> e(+)e(-) cross section at midrapidity in p + p collisions at root s = 200 GeV. We find the cross section to be 114 +/- 38(stat + fit)(-24)(+23)(syst) pb. Perturbative QCD calculations at next-to-leading order in the color evaporation model are in agreement with our measurement, while calculations in the color singlet model underestimate it by 2 sigma. Our result is consistent with the trend seen in world data as a function of the center-of-mass energy of the collision and extends the availability of gamma data to RHIC energies. The dielectron continuum in the invariant-mass range near the gamma is also studied to obtain a combined yield of e(+)e(-) pairs from the sum of the Drell-Yan process and b-(b) over bar production.

Abstract:Photoneutron reactions on $^{208}$Pb in the Giant Dipole Resonance energy region have been investigated at the $\gamma$-ray beam line of the NewSUBARU facility in Japan. The measurements made use of quasi-monochromatic laser Compton backscattering $\gamma$-ray beams in a broad energy range, from the neutron threshold up to 38 MeV, and of a flat-efficiency moderated $^3$He neutron detection system along with associated neutron-multiplicity sorting methods. We report absolute cross sections and mean photoneutron energies for the $^{208}$Pb$(\gamma,\,inX)$ reactions with $i$~=~1 to 4. The fine structure present in the $^{208}$Pb$(\gamma,\,n)$ cross sections at incident energies lower than 13~MeV has been observed. The photoabsorption cross section has been obtained as the sum of the $(\gamma,\,inX)$ reaction cross sections. By reproducing the measured ring-ratio values at excitation energies below the two neutron separation energy, we were able to extract estimations on the $^{208}$Pb$(\gamma,\,n)$ photoneutron energy spectra and on the partial photoneutron cross sections for leaving the residual $^{207}$Pb in its ground and first two excited states. The present results are compared with data from the literature and statistical model calculations.

Abstract:We present results for the total top-pair production cross section at the Tevatron and the LHC. Our predictions supplement fixed-order results with resummation of soft logarithms and Coulomb singularities to next-to-next-to-leading (NNLL) logarithmic accuracy and include top-antitop bound-state effects. The effects of resummation, the dependence on the PDF set used, the residual sources of theoretical uncertainty and their implication for measurements of the top-quark mass are discussed.

Abstract:The cross section was measured at center of mass (c.m.) energies from the threshold to 1908 MeV. The experiment to measure the cross section has been carried out at the VEPP-2000 collider in 13 energy points. The SND detector is used to detect the produced neutron–antineutrons ( ) events. A special time measurement system on the calorimeter was used to select the time-delayed events. The measured cross section is 0.4–0.6 nb. The neutron effective timelike form factor in the energy range under study varies from 0.3 to 0.6.

Abstract:Alpha-induced reactions are of pertinence in the production of radioisotopes used in varied domains including therapeutics and diagnostics. Sustained efforts are directed towards optimizing the production of such isotopes, typically using α-beams from the accelerators. Measurement of beam current remains an imperative component of the exercise and is conventionally pursued through the use of monitor reactions. The present work reports cross-section measurements of three such monitor reactions nat Cu(α,x) 66,67 Ga, 65 Zn, in the energy range of E lab = 40–50 MeV where data is sparse in the existing literature. The experimental cross-sections have been reproduced in the reaction model calculations, using the TALYS framework.

Abstract:The differential cross section for the quasi-free photoproduction reaction $\gamma n\rightarrow K^0\Sigma^0$ was measured at BGOOD at ELSA from threshold to a centre-of-mass energy of 2400 MeV. Close to threshold the results are consistent with existing data and are in agreement with partial wave analysis solutions over the full measured energy range, with a large coupling to the $\Delta$(1900)1/2- evident. This is the first dataset covering the K* threshold region, where there are model predictions of dynamically generated vector meson-baryon resonance contributions.

Abstract:Up to now, no experimental cross-section data exist for the Zn-67(n, alpha)Ni-64 reaction in the MeV neutron energy region. In the present work, the cross-section of the Zn-67(n, alpha)Ni-64 reaction was measured at E-n = 6.0 MeV. Experiments were performed at the Van de Graaff accelerator of Peking University, China. Fast neutrons were produced through the D(d, n)(3) He reaction using a deuterium gas target. Absolute neutron flux was determined by a small U-238 fission chamber and a BF3 long counter was used as a neutron flux monitor. A twin gridded ionization chamber was employed as the alpha-particle detector and two back-to-back Zn-67 samples were used for alpha events measurement. Background was measured and subtracted from foreground. The measured cross-section of the Zn-67(n, alpha)Ni-64 reaction was 7.3 (1 +/- 15%) mb at 6.0 MeV. The present result was compared with existing evaluations and TALYS code calculations.

Abstract:The paper presents the 207Bi production cross-sections measured by the direct gamma-spectrometry technique in the samples of lead enriched with isotopes 208, 207 and 206, as well as in the samples of natural lead and bismuth, irradiated by protons of 11 energies in the range from 0.04 to 2.6 GeV. The obtained experimental results are compared with the previous measurements, with the TENDL-2019 data-library evaluations and the simulated data by means of the high-energy transport codes MCNP6.1 (CEM03.03), PHITS (INCL4.6/GEM), and Geant4 (INCL++/ABLA). The observed discrepancies between model predictions and experimental data are discussed.

Abstract:In this research, measurement of the 128 Te(n,2n) 127m,g Te reaction cross-sections following the computation of the isomeric cross-section ratios were done around the neutron energy of 13-15 MeV. We used γ-ray spectrometric technique for the measurements. The neutron energy was produced from the 3 H(d,n) 4 He reaction. For the reaction 128Te(n,2n)127m,gTe, the excited state, ground state, and total cross-section, and isomeric crosssection ratio were determined using the TALYS-1.96 code. This theoretical nuclear model allows for variations in density options. Initial experimental data, assessed nuclear data, and theoretical calculations based on the TALYS-1.96 algorithm are compared with measurement outcomes. The new data is essential to validate nuclear models and establish parameters for nuclear reactions.

Abstract:The production of c and b quarks in gamma-gamma collisions is studied with the L3 detector at LEP with 410 pb^-1 of data, collected at centre-of-mass energies from 189 GeV to 202 GeV. Hadronic final states containing c and b quarks are identified by detecting electrons or muons from their semileptonic decays. The cross sections sigma(e+e- -> e+e- c c~ X) and sigma(e+e- -> e+e- b b~ X) are measured and compared to next-to-leading order perturbative QCD calculations. The cross section of b production is measured in gamma-gamma collisions for the first time. It is in excess of the QCD prediction by a factor of three.

Abstract:Using the upgraded Beijing Spectrometer we have measured the total cross section for e(+) e(-) annihilation into hadronic final states at center-of-mass energies of 2.6, 3.2,.3.4, 3.55, 4.6, and 5.0 GeV. Values of R, sigma(e(+)e(-) --> hadrons)/sigma(e(+)e(-) --> mu(+)mu(-)), are determined.

Abstract:Cross sections, angular distributions, and double-differential cross sections were measured for 39K(n,α)36Cl reactions at En = 4.5, 5.5, and 6.5 MeV and for 40Ca(n,α)37Ar reactions at En = 5.0 to 6.0 MeV, using a twin-gridded ionization chamber, and the experimental data were analyzed with the UNF code. The results indicate that the optical model parameters employed in the calculation are appropriate in the energy region. The energy level densities used in our calculations are a little different from the findings of Gilbert and Cameron, and the pair corrections of some nuclei are much smaller than what was determined by them. The experiment and model calculation results indicate that in the energy region below 7 MeV, the compound nuclear mechanism is predominant; at 6.5 MeV, the preequilibrium emission is approximately 12%.
