Abstract:We study operator algebras associated to integral domains. In particular, with respect to a set of natural identities we look at the possible nonselfadjoint operator algebras which encode the ring structure of an integral domain. We show that these algebras give a new class of examples of semicrossed products by discrete semigroups. We investigate the structure of these algebras together with a particular class of representations.

Abstract:Motivated by the pivotal role played by linear operators, many years ago Rota proposed to determine algebraic operator identities satisfied by linear operators on associative algebras, later called Rota's Program on Algebraic Operators. Recent progresses on this program have been achieved in the contexts of operated algebra, rewriting systems and Grobner-Shirshov bases. These developments also suggest that Rota's insight can be applied to determine operator identities on Lie algebras, and thus to put the various linear operators on Lie algebras in a uniform perspective. This paper carries out this approach, utilizing operated polynomial Lie algebras spanned by nonassociative Lyndon-Shirshov bracketed words. The Lie algebra analog of Rota's program is formulated in terms convergent rewriting systems and equivalently in terms of Grobner-Shirshov bases. Abstract:We introduce a new approach to the classification of operator identities, based on basic concepts from the theory of algebraic operads together with computational commutative algebra applied to determinantal ideals of matrices over polynomial rings. We consider operator identities of degree 2 (the number of variables in each term) and multiplicity 1 or 2 (the number of operators in each term), but our methods apply more generally. Given an operator identity with indeterminate coefficients, we use partial compositions to construct a matrix of consequences, and then use computer algebra to determine the values of the indeterminates for which this matrix has submaximal rank. For multiplicity 1 we obtain six identities, including the derivation identity. For multiplicity 2 we obtain eighteen identities and two parametrized families, including the left and right averaging identities, the Rota-Baxter identity, the Nijenhuis identity, and some new identities which deserve further study.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the various different generalized inverses in a Banach algebra with respect to prescribed two idempotents $p$ and $q$. Some new characterizations and explicit representations for these generalized inverses, such as $a^{(2)}_{p,q}$, $a^{(1,2)}_{p,q}$ and $a^{(2,l)}_{p,q}$ will be presented. The obtained results extend and generalize some well--known results for matrices or operators.

Abstract:We consider the cyclic representations $\Omega_{rs}$ of $ U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2)$ at $q^N=1$ that depend upon two points $r,s$ in the chiral Potts algebraic curve. We show how $\Omega_{rs}$ is related to the tensor product $\rho_r\otimes \bar{\rho}_s$ of two representations of the upper Borel subalgebra of $U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2)$. This result is analogous to the factorization property of the Verma module of $U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2)$ at generic-$q$ in terms of two q-oscillator representation of the Borel subalgebra - a key step in the construction of the Q-operator. We construct short exact sequences of the different representations and use the results to construct Q operators that satisfy TQ relations for $q^N=1$ for both the 6-vertex and $\tau_2$ models.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish two general q-exponential operator identities by solving two simple q-difference equations, which contain two well-known operator identities as special cases. These operator identities allow us to derive naturally the q-Mehler formulas for the Rogers-Szego polynomials and the q(-1)-Rogers-Szego polynomials. The q-Mehler formulas are used to derive two q-exponential operator identities involving (3)phi(2) series. We derive a q-integral formula which is an extension of the q-integral form of the Sears transformation. Finally, we set up a general identity for the bilateral q-series and from which a simple proof of Bailey's (6)psi(6) summation is given.
Nonsymmetric $q$-Cauchy identity and representations of the Iwahori algebra

Abstract:The $t=0$ specialization of the Mimachi-Noumi Cauchy-type identity rewrites certain infinite product in terms of specialized nonsymmetric Macdonald polynomials of type $GL_n$. We interpret the infinite product as a character of the space of functions on a certain matrix space. We show that the space of functions admits a filtration such that the graded pieces are isomorphic to the tensor products of certain generalized global Weyl modules of the Iwahori algebra. We identify the characters of the graded pieces with the terms of the specialized Mimachi-Noumi formula. We conjecture the existence of an analogous filtration on the space of functions on the Iwahori group for all simple Lie algebras and prove the conjecture for $SL_n$. Our construction can be seen as a current algebra extension of the van der Kallen filtration on functions on a Borel subgroup.

Abstract:An O-operator has been used to extend a Leibniz algebra by its representation. In this paper, we investigate several structures related to O-operators on Leib-niz algebras and introduce (dual) ON-structures on Leibniz algebras associated to their representations. It is proved that O-operators and dual ON-structures generate each other under certain conditions. It is also shown that a solution of the strong Maurer-Cartan equation on the twilled Leibniz algebra gives rise to a dual ON-structure. Finally, r -n structures, RBN-structures and BN-structures on Leibniz algebras are thoroughly studied and their interdependent relations are also studied.

Abstract:We develop and exposit some general algebra useful for working with certain algebraic structures that arise in stable homotopy theory, such as those encoding well-behaved theories of power operations for $\mathbb{E}_\infty$ ring spectra. In particular, we consider Quillen cohomology in the context of algebras over algebraic theories, plethories, and Koszul resolutions for algebras over additive theories. By combining this general algebra with obstruction-theoretic machinery, we obtain tools for computing with $\mathbb{E}_\infty$ algebras over $\mathbb{F}_p$ and over Lubin-Tate spectra. As an application, we demonstrate the existence of $\mathbb{E}_\infty$ periodic complex orientations at heights $h\leq 2$.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate applications of the ordinary derivative operator, instead of the $q$-derivative operator, to the theory of $q$-series. As main results, many new summation and transformation formulas are established which are closely related to some well-known formulas such as the $q$-binomial theorem, Ramanujan's ${}_1\psi_1$ formula, the quintuple product identity, Gasper's $q$-Clausen product formula, and Rogers' ${}_6\phi_5$ formula, etc. Among these results is a finite form of the Rogers-Ramanujan identity and a short way to Eisenstein's theorem on Lambert series.

Abstract:In the framework of operator theory, we investigate a close Lie theoretic relationship between all operator ideals and certain classical groups of invertible operators that can be described as the solution sets of certain algebraic equations, hence can be regarded as infinite-dimensional linear algebraic groups. Historically, this has already been done for only the complete-norm ideals; in that case one can work within the framework of the well-known Lie theory for Banach-Lie groups. That kind of Lie theory is not applicable for arbitrary operator ideals, so we needed to find a new approach for dealing with the general situation. The simplest instance of the aforementioned relationship is provided by the Lie algebra $\ug_{\Ic}(\Hc)=\{X\in\Ic\mid X^*=-X\}$ associated with the group $\U_{\Ic}(\Hc)=\U(\Hc)\cap(\1+\Ic)$ where $\Ic$ is an arbitrary operator ideal in $\Bc(\Hc)$ and $\U(\Hc)$ is the full group of unitary operators. We investigate the Cartan subalgebras (maximal abelian self-adjoint subalgebras) of $\ug_{\Ic}(\Hc)$ for $\{0\}\subsetneqq\Ic\subsetneqq\Bc(\Hc)$, and obtain an uncountably many $\U_{\Ic}(\Hc)$-conjugacy classes of these Cartan subalgebras. The cardinality proof will be given in a follow up paper \cite{BPW13} and stands in contrast to the $\U(\Hc)$-uniqueness work of de la Harpe \cite{dlH72}.

Abstract:Infinite Dimensional Analysis, Quantum Probability and Related Topics, Ahead of Print. Given any separable complex Hilbert space, any trace-class operator [math] which does not have purely imaginary trace, and any generator [math] of a norm-continuous one-parameter semigroup of completely positive maps we prove that there exists a unique bounded operator [math] and a unique completely positive map [math] such that (i) [math], (ii) the superoperator [math] is trace class and has vanishing trace, and (iii) [math] is a real number. Central to our proof is a modified version of the Choi formalism which relates completely positive maps to positive semi-definite operators. We characterize when this correspondence is injective and surjective, respectively, which in turn explains why the proof idea of our main result cannot extend to non-separable Hilbert spaces. In particular, we find examples of positive semi-definite operators which have empty pre-image under the Choi formalism as soon as the underlying Hilbert space is infinite-dimensional.

Abstract:I use polynomial analogue of the Jacobi triple product identity together with the Eisenstein formula for the Legendre symbol modulo 3 . to prove six identities involving the $q$-binomial coefficients. These identities are then extended to the new infinite hierarchies of q-series identities by means of the special case of Bailey's lemma. Some of the identities of Ramanujan, Slater, McLaughlin and Sills are obtained this way.

Abstract:The $q$-Onsager algebra, denoted $O_q$, is defined by two generators $W_0, W_1$ and two relations called the $q$-Dolan-Grady relations. Recently, Terwilliger introduced some elements of $O_q$, said to be alternating. These elements are denoted $\{{W}_{-k}\}_{k=0}^{\infty}, \{{W}_{k+1}\}_{k=0}^{\infty}, \{{G}_{k+1}\}_{k=0}^{\infty}, \{\tilde{G}_{k+1}\}_{k=0}^{\infty}$. The alternating elements of $O_q$ are defined recursively. By construction, they are polynomials in $W_0$ and $W_1$. It is currently unknown how to express these polynomials in closed form. In this paper, we consider an algebra $T_q$, called the quantum torus. We present a basis for $T_q$ and define an algebra homomorphism $p: O_q \mapsto T_q$. In our main result, we express the $p$-images of the alternating elements of $O_q$ in the basis for $T_q$. These expressions are in a closed form that we find attractive.

Abstract:1. The problems discussed in this paper arose naturally in continuation of the work begun in a paper of one of us ((18), chiefly parts I and II). Their solution seems to be essential for the further advance of abstract operator theory in Hilbert space under several aspects. First, the formal calculus with operator-rings leads to them. Second, our attempts to generalise the theory of unitary grouprepresentations essentially beyond their classical frame have always been blocked by the unsolved questions connected with these problems. Third, various aspects of the quantum mechanical formalism suggest strongly the elucidation of this subject. Fourth, the knowledge obtained in these investigations gives an approach to a class of abstract algebras without a finite basis, which seems to differ essentially from all types hitherto investigated. Abstract:Given two unital C*-algebras $A$ and $B$, we study, when it exists, the universal unital $C^*$-algebra $\mathcal{U}(A,B)$ generated by the coefficients of a unital $*$-homomorphism $\rho\,:\, A\rightarrow B\otimes\mathcal{U}(A,B)$. When $B$ is finite dimensional, it is well known that $\mathcal{U}(A,B)$ exists and we study in this case properties LP, RFD, primitiveness and the UCT as well as $K$-theory. We also construct a reduced version of $\mathcal{U}(A,B)$ for which we study exactness, nuclearity, simplicity, absence of non-trivial projection and $K$-theory. Then, we consider the von Neumann algebra generated by the reduced version and study factoriality, amenability, fullness, primeness, absence of Cartan, Connes' invariants, Haagerup property and Connes' embeddability. Next, we consider the case when $B$ is infinite dimensional: we show that for any non-trivial separable unital $C^*$-algebra $A$, $\mathcal{U}(A,B)$ exists if and only if $B$ is finite dimensional. Nevertheless, we show that there exists a unique unital locally $C^*$-algebra generated by the coefficients of a unital continuous $*$-homomorphism $\rho\,:\, A\rightarrow B\otimes\mathcal{U}(A,B)$. Finally, we study a natural quantum semigroup structure on $\mathcal{U}(A,A)$.

Abstract:We generalize a result of Araki (1985) on indecomposable group representations with invariant (necessarily indefinite) inner product and irreducible subrepresentation to Hopf $*$-algebras. Moreover, we characterize invariant inner products on the projective indecomposable representations of small quantum groups $U_qsl(2)$ at odd roots of unity and on the indecomposable representations of generalized Taft algebras $H_{n,d}(q)$.

Full Conformal Oscillator Representations of Orthogonal Lie Algebras and Combinatorial Identities

Abstract:Zhao and the second author (2013) constructed a functor from o(k)-Mod to o(k + 2)-Mod. In this paper, we use the functor successively to obtain an universal first-order differential operator realization for any highest-weight representation of o(2n + 3) in (n + 1)^2 variables and that of o(2n + 2) in n(n + 1) variables. When the highest weight is dominant integral, we determine the corresponding finite-dimensional irreducible module explicitly. One can use the result to study tensor decompositions of finite-dimensional irreducible modules by solving certain first-order linear partial differential equations, and thereby obtain the corresponding physically interested Clebsch-Gordan coefficients and exact solutions of Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equation in WZW model of conformal field theory. We also find an equation of counting the dimension of an irreducible o(k + 2)-module in terms of certain alternating sum of the dimensions of irreducible o(k)-modules. In the case of the Steinberg modules, we obtain new combinatorial identities of classical type.
