Abstract:Due to the Fermionic nature of carriers, correlations between electric currents flowing through two different contacts attached to a conductor present a negative sign. Possibility for positive cross-correlations has been demonstrated in hybrid normal/superconductor structures under certain conditions. In this paper we show that positive cross-correlations can be induced, if not already present, in such structures by employing ferromagnetic leads with magnetizations aligned anti-parallel to each other. We consider three-terminal hybrid structures and calculate the mean-square correlations of current fluctuations as a function of the bias voltage at finite temperature.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is: Under specific conditions, how to induce or enhance the positive cross - correlation in the hybrid normal/superconducting structure by introducing ferromagnetic contacts. Specifically, the author studied whether positive current - fluctuation cross - correlation can be induced in a three - terminal hybrid structure when using ferromagnetic leads with antiparallel magnetization. According to the properties of fermions, the current cross - correlation between different leads is usually negative. However, in some cases, such as in hybrid structures containing superconductors, the possible existence of positive cross - correlation has been observed. This paper further explores the influence of introducing ferromagnetic leads on cross - correlation in these structures and shows that such an introduction can not only induce positive cross - correlation but also enhance the existing positive correlation. ### Main findings: 1. **Induction of positive cross - correlation**: When the magnetization directions of the two ferromagnetic leads are antiparallel, positive cross - correlation can be induced within a certain voltage range. 2. **Wide voltage range**: The positive cross - correlation can be maintained within a relatively wide voltage range, even exceeding the voltage value corresponding to the superconducting energy gap. 3. **Weak - disorder resistance**: Even in the presence of weak disorder (such as impurities or lattice defects), this positive cross - correlation still exists stably. 4. **Mechanism explanation**: The appearance of positive cross - correlation is due to the strong spin asymmetry introduced by ferromagnetism, which suppresses the particle - particle and hole - hole cross - correlations (which contribute negative values) and is favorable for the particle - hole cross - correlation (which contributes positive values). ### Formula summary: The main formulas involved in the paper include: - Current - fluctuation operator: \[ \hat{\Delta I}_i(t)=\hat{I}_i(t)-\langle\hat{I}_i\rangle \] - Definition of noise power: \[ \bar{s}_{il}=\frac{1}{2}\left\langle\hat{\Delta I}_i(t)\hat{\Delta I}_l(t')+\hat{\Delta I}_l(t')\hat{\Delta I}_i(t)\right\rangle \] - Expression of zero - frequency noise power: \[ \bar{s}_{il}(V, T)=\frac{2e^2}{h}\int_0^\infty dE\sum_{a,a'}\sum_{j\beta b, j'\beta' b'}A_{a}^{j\beta b; j'\beta' b'}(i, E, E)A_{a'}^{j'\beta' b'; j\beta b}(l, E, E)\left[f_j^\beta(E)[1 - f_{j'}^{\beta'}(E)]+f_{j'}^{\beta'}(E)[1 - f_j^\beta(E)]\right] \] - Simplified forms of different contribution terms in the zero - temperature, small - bias - voltage limit: \[ \bar{s}_{\alpha\gamma}^{23}=-(\alpha\gamma)\frac{4e^3V}{h}\left[T_{\alpha}^{+21}T_{\gamma}^{+31}+T_{\alpha}^{-21}T_{\gamma}^{-31}\right] \] Through these studies, the author reveals the important role of ferromagnetic leads in regulating electron - transport characteristics, especially in inducing and enhancing positive cross - correlation. This finding provides a theoretical basis for the future design of new spintronic devices.
