Abstract:We show that diagonal subalgebras and generalized Veronese subrings of a bigraded Koszul algebra are Koszul. We give upper bounds for the regularity of sidediagonal and relative Veronese modules and apply the results to symmetric algebras and Rees rings.

The authors provide a sufficient condition for a graded algebra A to be K_p in terms of its Yoneda-Ext algebra E(A),and also discuss whether the factor algebras of K_p inherit this property.

Abstract:We prove a version of Koszul duality and the induced derived equivalence for Adams connected -algebras that generalizes the classical Beilinson-Ginzburg-Soergel Koszul duality. As an immediate consequence, we give a version of the Bernšte {\uı} n-Gel'fand-Gel'fand correspondence for Adams connected -algebras.We give various applications. For example, a connected graded algebra is Artin-Schelter regular if and only if its Ext-algebra $\Ext^\ast_A (k, k) $ is Frobenius. This generalizes a result of Smith in the Koszul case. If is Koszul and if both and its Koszul dual are noetherian satisfying a polynomial identity, then is Gorenstein if and only if is. The last statement implies that a certain Calabi-Yau property is preserved under Koszul duality.

Abstract:We discuss certain homological properties of graded algebras whose trivial modules admit nonpure resolutions. Such algebras include both of Artin-Schelter regular algebras of types (12221) and (13431). Under certain conditions, a module with nonpure resolution is decomposed to form an extension by two modules with pure resolutions.

Abstract:We study a class of A∞-algebras, named (2,p)-algebras, which is related to the class of p-homogeneous algebras, especially to the class of p-Koszul algebras. A general method to construct (2,p)-algebras is given. Koszul dual of a connected graded algebra is defined in terms of A∞-algebra. It is proved that a p-homogeneous algebra A is p-Koszul if and only if the Koszul dual E(A) is a reduced (2,p)-algebra and generated by E1(A). The (2,p)-algebra structure of the Koszul dual E(A) of a p-Koszul algebra A is described explicitly. A necessary and sufficient condition for a p-homogeneous algebra to be a p-Koszul algebra is also given when the higher multiplications on the Koszul dual are ignored.

Abstract:We study absolutely Koszul algebras, Koszul algebras with the Backelin-Roos property and their behavior under standard algebraic operations. In particular, we identify some Veronese subrings of polynomial rings that have the Backelin-Roos property and conjecture that the list is indeed complete. Among other things, we prove that every universally Koszul ring defined by monomials has the Backelin-Roos property.

Koszul Lie algebras and their subalgebras

Abstract:This paper examines (restricted) Koszul Lie algebras, a class of positively graded Lie algebras with a quadratic presentation and specific cohomological properties. The study employs HNN-extensions as a key tool for decomposing and analysing these algebras. Building on a previous work on Koszul Lie algebras ("Kurosh theorem for certain Koszul Lie algebras", S. Blumer), this paper also deals with Bloch-Kato Lie algebras, which constitute a distinguished subclass of that of Koszul Lie algebras where all subalgebras generated by elements of degree $1$ have a quadratic presentation. It is shown that Bloch-Kato Lie algebras satisfy a version of the Levi decomposition theorem and that they satisfy the Toral Rank Conjecture. Two new families of such Lie algebras are introduced, including all graded Lie algebras generated in degree $1$ and defined by two quadratic relations. Throughout the paper, we show many properties of right-angled Artin graded (RAAG) Lie algebras, which form a large class of Koszul Lie algebras.

Abstract:Here we announce the construction and properties of a big commutative subalgebra of the Kirillov algebra attached to a finite dimensional irreducible representation of a complex semisimple Lie group. They are commutative finite flat algebras over the cohomology of the classifying space of the group. They are isomorphic with the equivariant intersection cohomology of affine Schubert varieties, endowing them with a new ring structure. Study of the finer aspects of the structure of the big algebras will also furnish the stalks of the intersection cohomology with ring structure, thus ringifying Lusztig's q-weight multiplicity polynomials i.e. affine Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials.

Abstract:We present an easily applicable sufficient condition for standard Koszul algebras to be Koszul with respect to $\Delta$. If a quasi-hereditary algebra $Ł$ is Koszul with respect to $\Delta$, then $Ł$ and the Yoneda extension algebra of $\Delta$ are Koszul dual in a sense explained below, implying in particular that their bounded derived categories of finitely generated graded modules are equivalent. We also prove that the extension algebra of $\Delta$ is Koszul in the classical sense.

Abstract:We study a finite dimensional quadratic graded algebra R defined from a finite ranked poset. This algebra has been central to the study of the splitting algebra of the poset, A, as introduced by Gelfand, Retakh, Serconek and Wilson . The algebra A is known to be quadratic when the poset satisfies a combinatorial condition known as uniform, and R is the quadratic dual of an associated graded algebra of A. We prove that R is Koszul and the poset is uniform if and only if the poset is Cohen-Macaulay. Koszulity of R implies Koszulity of A. We also show that when R is Koszul, the cohomology of the order complex of the poset can be identified with certain cohomology groups defined internally to the ring R. Finally, we settle in the negative the long-standing question: Does numerically Koszul imply Koszul for algebras of the form R?

Abstract:Let $A = \bigoplus_{i \geqslant 0} A_i$ be a graded locally finite $k$-algebra such that $A_0$ is an arbitrary finite-dimensional algebra satisfying a certain splitting condition. In this paper we develop a generalized Koszul theory preserving many classical results. Moreover, we define a quotient graded algebra $\bar{A} = \bigoplus_{i \geqslant 0} \bar{A}_i$ and show that $A$ is a generalized Koszul algebra if and only if $\bar{A}$ is a classical Koszul algebra and a projective $A_0$-module. We also describe an application of this theory to the extension algebras of standard modules of standardly stratified algebras.

Abstract:Avramov, Conca, and Iyengar ask whether $\beta_i^S(R) \leq \binom{g}{i}$ for all $i$ when $R=S/I$ is a Koszul algebra minimally defined by $g$ quadrics. In recent work, we give an affirmative answer to this question when $g \leq 4$ by completely classifying the possible Betti tables of Koszul algebras defined by height-two ideals of four quadrics. Continuing this work, the current paper proves a structure theorem for Koszul algebras defined by four quadrics. We show that all these Koszul algebras are LG-quadratic, proving that an example of Conca of a Koszul algebra that is not LG-quadratic is minimal in terms of number of defining equations. We then characterize precisely when these rings are absolutely Koszul, and establish the equivalence of the absolutely Koszul and Backelin--Roos properties up to field extensions for such rings (in characteristic zero). The combination of the above paper with the current one provides a fairly complete picture of all Koszul algebras defined by $g \leq 4$ quadrics.

Abstract:We give a complete picture of the interaction between Koszul and Ringel dualities for graded standardly stratified algebras (in the sense of Cline, Parshall and Scott) admitting linear tilting (co)resolutions of standard and proper costandard modules. We single out a certain class of graded standardly stratified algebras imposing the condition that standard filtrations of projective modules are finite, and develop the tilting theory for such algebras. Under the assumption of existence of linear tilting (co)resolutions we show that algebras from this class are Koszul, that both Ringel and Koszul duals belong to the class, and that these two dualities on this class commute.

Abstract:We define generalized Koszul modules and rings and develop a generalized Koszul theory for N-graded rings with the degree zero part noetherian semiperfect. This theory specializes to the classical Koszul theory for graded rings with degree zero part artinian semisimple developed by Beilinson-Ginzburg-Soergel and the ungraded Koszul theory for noetherian semiperfect rings developed by Green and Martinez-Villa. Let A be a left finite N-graded ring generated in degree 1 with A0 noetherian semiperfect, J be its graded Jacobson radical. By the Koszul dual of A we mean the Yoneda Ext ring Ext center dot A(A/J, A/J). If A is a generalized Koszul ring and M is a generalized Koszul module, then it is proved that the Koszul dual of the Koszul dual of A is the associated graded ring GrJ A and the Koszul dual of the Koszul dual of M is the associated graded module GrJ M. If A is a locally finite algebra, then the following statements are proved to be equivalent: A is generalized Koszul; the Koszul dual Ext center dot A(A/J, A/J) of A is (classically) Koszul; GrJ A is (classically) Koszul; the opposite ring Aop of A is generalized Koszul. Abstract:In earlier work of three of the authors of the present paper, a supercommutative quadratic algebra was associated to each symmetric quiver, and a new proof of positivity of motivic Donaldson-Thomas invariants of symmetric quivers was given using the so called numerical Koszul property of these algebras. It was furthermore conjectured that for each symmetric quiver such an algebra is Koszul. In this work, we lift the linking and unlinking operations on symmetric quivers of Ekholm, Longhi and the third author to the level of quadratic algebras, and use those lifts to prove the Koszulness conjecture.

Abstract:Koszul algebras have arisen in many contexts; algebraic geometry, combinatorics, Lie algebras, non-commutative geometry and topology. The aim of this paper and several sequel papers is to show that for any finite dimensional algebra there is always a naturally associated Koszul theory. To obtain this, the notions of Koszul algebras, linear modules and Koszul duality are extended to additive (graded) categories over a field. The main focus of this paper is to provide these generalizations and the necessary preliminaries.

Abstract:We introduce Koszul modules associated with (graded) Kac-Moody Lie algebras. We provide a precise criterion for when these modules are of finite length. As an exemplary application we deduce a bound on the dimension of the second graded component for a certain class of graded Kac-Moody Lie algebras. We also provide an exact description of all nilpotent Kac-Moody Koszul modules.

Abstract:We discover a new connection between Koszul theory and representation theory. Let $\La$ be a quadratic algebra defined by a locally finite quiver with relations. Firstly, we give a combinatorial description of the local Koszul complexes and the quadratic dual $\La^!$, which enables us to describe the linear projective resolutions and the colinear injective coresolutions of graded simple $\La$-modules in terms of $\La^!$. As applications, we obtain a new class of Koszul algebras and a stronger version of the Extension Conjecture for finite dimensional Koszul algebras with a noetherian Koszul dual. Then we construct two Koszul functors, which induce a $2$-real-parameter family of pairs of derived Koszul functors between categories derived from graded $\La$-modules and those derived from graded $\La^!$-modules. In case $\La$ is Koszul, each pair of derived Koszul functors are mutually quasi-inverse, one of the pairs is Beilinson, Ginzburg and Soergel's Koszul duality. If $\La$ and $\La^!$ are locally bounded on opposite sides, then the Koszul functors induce two equivalences of bounded derived categories: one for finitely piece-supported graded modules, and one for finite dimensional graded modules. And if $\La$ and $\La^!$ are both locally bounded, then the bounded derived category of finite dimensional graded $\La$-modules has almost split triangles with the Auslander-Reiten translations and the Serre functors given by composites of derived Koszul functors.

Abstract:There are many structures (algebras, categories, etc) with natural gradings such that the degree 0 components are not semisimple. Particular examples include tensor algebras with non-semisimple degree 0 parts, extension algebras of standard modules of standardly stratified algebras. In this thesis we develop a generalized Koszul theory for graded algebras (categories) whose degree 0 parts may be non-semisimple. Under some extra assumption, we show that this generalized Koszul theory preserves many classical results such as the Koszul duality. Moreover, it has some close relation to the classical theory. Applications of this generalized theory to finite EI categories, directed categories, and extension algebras of standard modules of standardly stratified algebras are described. We also study the stratification property of standardly stratified algebras, and classify algebras standardly (resp., properly) stratified for all linear orders.
