Abstract:In this paper we propose an approach to prepare GHZ states of an arbitrary multi-particle system in terms of Grover's fast quantum searching algorithm. This approach can be regarded as an extension of the Grover's algorithm to find one or more items in an unsorted database.

Abstract:Grover's algorithm harnesses the power of quantum computing to swiftly locate specific elements in an unstructured database, outperforming classical computers in tasks like database searching. This algorithm capitalizes on the unique ability of qubits to be in both 0 and 1 states simultaneously (superposition), allowing it to scan the entire search space at once. It then boosts the probability of the target element, making it more prominent. While the foundational concepts of Grover's algorithm are well-documented, practical implementation using quantum operators, especially for large search spaces, remains less explored beyond basic examples with a small number of qubits. Existing general synthesis techniques often involve numerous operators or are time-consuming. Our proposed methods specifically address the amplitude-amplification component of Grover's algorithm for any size of search space. These methods detail the required types and quantities of qubits and operators, emphasizing minimal usage and efficient assembly. Developed and evaluated in Python, our methods consistently identified target elements with over 95% accuracy and achieved configurations comparably compact as those in the existing literature but at a faster pace. We anticipate that these methods facilitate practical implementations of Grover's algorithm across various domains.

Abstract:Abstract An 50 (3) picture of the generalized Grover's quantum searching algorithm is constructed. Exact formulas for the rotation angle and rotational axis are given. The probability of finding the marked state is very easy to calculate in this picture. Applications of the picture to standard Grover algorithm, to generalized quantum search algorithm with arbitrary phase rotations are given.Grover's quantum search'is one of the most celebrated quantum computing algorithms. It was shown that the Hadmard transformation in the algorithm can be replaced by almost any arbitrary unitary transformation2. It has been shown that the algorithm is optimal3. The original algorithm used an evenly distributed initial state. Later the algorithm was generalized to arbitrary initial amplitude distribution 4. It has many important applications, for instance, in the Simon problem 5 and quantum counting6. Since Grover's algorithm involves only simple gate operations, it has been realized in 2 qubits7, 8, and 3 qubit NMR systems9.

Abstract:In this article, we review quantum search algorithms for unsorted database search problem. Unsorted database search is a very important problem in science and technology. In a quantum computer, a marked state can be found with very high probability using the Grover’s algorithm, or exactly with the Long algorithm. We review the Grover algorithm and related generalizations. In particular, we review the phase matching conditions in quantum search algorithm. Several issues that may cause confusion about the quantum search algorithm are also clarified.

Abstract:Quantum multi-programming is a method utilizing contemporary noisy intermediate-scale quantum computers by executing multiple quantum circuits concurrently. Despite early research on it, the research remains on quantum gates or small-size quantum algorithms without correlation. In this paper, we propose a quantum multi-programming (QMP) algorithm for Grover's search. Our algorithm decomposes Grover's algorithm by the partial diffusion operator and executes the decomposed circuits in parallel by QMP. We proved that this new algorithm increases the rotation angle of the Grover operator which, as a result, increases the success probability. The new algorithm is implemented on IBM quantum computers and compared with the canonical Grover's algorithm and other variations of Grover's algorithms. The empirical tests validate that our new algorithm outperforms other variations of Grover's algorithms as well as the canonical Grover's algorithm.

Optimized General Uniform Quantum State Preparation

Abstract:Quantum algorithms for unstructured search problems rely on the preparation of a uniform superposition, traditionally achieved through Hadamard gates. However, this incidentally creates an auxiliary search space consisting of nonsensical answers that do not belong in the search space and reduce the efficiency of the algorithm due to the need to neglect, un-compute, or destructively interfere with them. Previous approaches to removing this auxiliary search space yielded large circuit depth and required the use of ancillary qubits. We have developed an optimized general solver for a circuit that prepares a uniform superposition of any N states while minimizing depth and without the use of ancillary qubits. We show that this algorithm is efficient, especially in its use of two wire gates, and that it has been verified on an IonQ quantum computer and through application to a quantum unstructured search algorithm.

Abstract:A quantum computation problem of quantum search is discussed in this paper.Grover's search algorithm, the most commonly used quantum search algorithm, is introduced in details.The flow of quantum search algorithm and the quantum circuit model are shown.And the error of the search value, as well as the probability of measurement, is analyzed.For further research we simulated the Grover's search algorithm in classical computer.By quantum simulator the probability distribution of the measuring result of search value is presented and the computational efficiency is discussed.The simulation result demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Abstract:The Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) state is a key resource for quantum information processing and quantum metrology. The atomic GHZ state can be generated by one-axis twisting (OAT) interaction $H_{\mathrm{OAT}}=\chi J_{z}^{2}$ with $\chi $ the interaction strength, but it requires a long evolution time $\chi t=\pi /2$ and is thus seriously influenced by decoherence and losses. Here we propose a three-body collective-spin XYZ model which creates a GHZ-like state in a very short timescale $\chi t\sim \ln {N}/N$ for $N$ particles. We show that this model can be effectively produced by applying Floquet driving to an original OAT Hamiltonian. Compared with the ideal GHZ state, the GHZ-like state generated using our model can maintain similar metrological properties reaching the Heisenberg-limited scaling, and it shows better robustness to decoherence and particle losses. This work opens the avenue for generating GHZ-like states with a large particle number, which holds great potential for the study of macroscopic quantum effects and for applications in quantum metrology and quantum information.

Abstract:Preparation of quantum state lies at the heart of quantum information processing. The greedy algorithm provides a potential method to effectively prepare quantum state. However, the standard greedy (SG) algorithm, in general, cannot take the global maxima and instead becomes stuck on a local maxima. Based on the SG algorithm, in this paper we propose a revised version to design dynamic pulses to realize universal quantum state preparation, i.e. preparing an arbitrary state from another arbitrary one. As applications, we implement this scheme to the universal preparation of single- and two-qubit state in the context of semiconductor quantum dots and superconducting circuits. Evaluation results show that our scheme outperforms the alternative numerical optimizations with higher preparation quality while possesses the comparable high efficiency. Compared with the emerging machine learning, it shows better accessibility and does not require any training. Moreover, the numerical results show that the pulse sequences generated by our scheme are robust against various errors and noises. Our scheme opens a new avenue of optimization in few-level system and limited action space quantum control problems.

Efficient Implementation of a Quantum Search Algorithm for Arbitrary N

Abstract:This paper presents an enhancement to Grover's search algorithm for instances where the number of items (or the size of the search problem) $N$ is not a power of 2. By employing an efficient algorithm for the preparation of uniform quantum superposition states over a subset of the computational basis states, we demonstrate that a considerable reduction in the number of oracle calls (and Grover's iterations) can be achieved in many cases. For special cases (i.e., when $N$ is of the form such that it is slightly greater than an integer power of 2), the reduction in the number of oracle calls (and Grover's iterations) asymptotically approaches 29.33\%. This improvement is significant compared to the traditional Grover's algorithm, which handles such cases by rounding $N$ up to the nearest power of 2. The key to this improvement is our algorithm for the preparation of uniform quantum superposition states over a subset of the computational basis states, which requires gate complexity and circuit depth of only $ O (\log_2 (N)) $, without using any ancilla qubits.

Abstract:Ground state preparation is a key area where quantum computers are expected to prove advantageous. Double-bracket quantum algorithms (DBQAs) have been recently proposed to diagonalize Hamiltonians and in this work we show how to use them to prepare ground states. We propose to improve an initial state preparation by adding a few steps of DBQAs. The interfaced method systematically achieves a better fidelity while significantly reducing the computational cost of the procedure. For a Heisenberg model, we compile our algorithm using CZ and single-qubit gates into circuits that match capabilities of near-term quantum devices. Moreover, we show that DBQAs can benefit from the experimental availability of increasing circuit depths. Whenever an approximate ground state can be prepared without exhausting the available circuit depth, then DBQAs can be enlisted to algorithmically seek a higher fidelity preparation.

A simple quantum algorithm to efficiently prepare sparse states

Abstract:State preparation is a fundamental routine in quantum computation, for which many algorithms have been proposed. Among them, perhaps the simplest one is the Grover-Rudolph algorithm. In this paper, we analyse the performance of this algorithm when the state to prepare is sparse. We show that the gate complexity is linear in the number of non-zero amplitudes in the state and quadratic in the number of qubits. We then introduce a simple modification of the algorithm, which makes the dependence on the number of qubits also linear. This is competitive with the best known algorithms for sparse state preparation

Abstract:A recent major technological breakthrough in superconducting circuits is the realization of more than 50 qubits arranged on two-dimensional (2D) lattices with tunable nearest-neighbor couplings. We propose a protocol to generate Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) states on 2D superconducting-qubit lattices by applying multiqubit controlled- i swap gates in parallel. The multiqubit gate can be naturally implemented based on an effective three-body interaction, which can be synthesized with appropriate detunings and coupling strengths between qubits. We simulate the preparation process of GHZ states with realistic parameters, and show a 37 -qubit GHZ state can be generated with a controlled- i swap depth of 3 . Our proposal provides a more promising method of generating GHZ states on the latest 2D superconducting-qubit architectures and will stimulate the preparation of multiqubit entangled states based on multiqubit gates. https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevApplied.18.064036 © 2022 American Physical Society

Abstract:One of the significant breakthroughs in quantum computation is Grover's algorithm for unsorted database search. Recently, the applications of Grover's algorithm to solve global optimization problems have been demonstrated, where unknown optimum solutions are found by iteratively improving the threshold value for the selective phase shift operator in Grover rotation. In this paper, a hybrid approach that combines continuous-time quantum walks with Grover search is proposed so that the search is accelerated with improved threshold values. By taking advantage of the quantum tunneling effect, better threshold values can be found at the early stage of the search process so that the sharpness of probability improves. The results between the new algorithm, existing Grover search, and classical heuristic algorithms are compared.

Abstract:In this paper, a scheme for N -photon Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) state analysis using hyperentangled states in multiple degrees of freedom with only linear optics and single photon detectors is proposed. The photons are separated and processed in different processing units. All the eight GHZ-states in either the polarization or the momentum degree of freedom can be completely distinguished. The scheme is implementable using present-day technology.
