Abstract:The influence of the additional second neighbor hopping t' on the spin response of the t-J model in the underdoped and optimally doped regimes is studied within the fermion-spin theory. Although the additional second neighbor hopping t' is systematically accompanied with the reduction of the dynamical spin structure factor and susceptibility, the qualitative behavior of the dynamical spin structure factor and susceptibility of the t-t'-J model is the same as in the case of t-J model. The integrated dynamical spin structure factor spectrum is almost t' independent, and the integrated dynamical spin susceptibility still shows the particularly universal behavior as $I(\omega,T)\propto {\rm arctan}[a_{1}\omega/T+a_{3}(\omega/T)^{3}]$.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The paper attempts to address the issue of exploring the impact of introducing an additional second-neighbor hopping (t') on the spin response in the t-J model of cuprate materials. Specifically, the researchers focus on how this additional second-neighbor hopping affects the dynamic spin structure factor and dynamic spin susceptibility in the underdoped and optimally doped regions. ### Background The relationship between antiferromagnetic (AF) spin fluctuations and superconductivity in cuprate materials has been a focal point of both experimental and theoretical research. A common feature of these materials is the 2D CuO₂ plane, and the anomalous magnetic properties mainly depend on the doping level. The t-J model is widely used to describe the spin dynamics of these materials, but recent angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) measurements indicate that the t-J model alone cannot fully explain the experimental data, necessitating the introduction of a second-neighbor hopping term t' to better describe the electronic band structure. ### Research Objectives 1. **Evaluate the impact of t'**: Investigate the effect of the additional second-neighbor hopping t' on the spin response in the t-J model. 2. **Compare t-J and t-t'-J models**: Analyze the similarities and differences in spin dynamics between the t-t'-J model and the traditional t-J model. 3. **Verify universal behavior**: Examine whether the integrated dynamic spin structure factor and dynamic spin susceptibility still exhibit universal behavior after introducing t'. ### Main Findings 1. **Reduction in dynamic spin structure factor and susceptibility**: Although the introduction of t' leads to a systematic reduction in the dynamic spin structure factor and susceptibility, their qualitative behavior remains similar to that of the t-J model. 2. **Independence of integrated dynamic spin structure factor**: The integrated dynamic spin structure factor is almost unaffected by t'. 3. **Maintenance of universal behavior**: The integrated dynamic spin susceptibility still exhibits particularly universal behavior, which can be described by I(ω,T)∝arctan[a1ω/T+a3(ω/T)³]. ### Conclusion Despite the reduction in the dynamic spin structure factor and susceptibility due to the additional second-neighbor hopping t', their qualitative behavior is consistent with the t-J model. This result supports the effectiveness of the t-t'-J model in describing the spin dynamics of cuprate materials and aligns with experimental data.
