Abstract:Following the publication of the above article, the authors contacted the Editorial Office to explain that a couple of errors concerning data handling/labelling had been made, firstly during the preparation of the representative images in Fig. 3B, resulting in the wrong image being selected for the data panel showing the ACHN cells treated with 'Inhibitor NC' at 0 h experiment, and secondly in Fig. 5A, resulting in the wrong image being selected for the data panel showing the ACHN cells treated with 'Inhibitor NC' experiment. The authors requested that a corrigendum be published to take account of the errors that were made during the preparation of this figure. Subsequently, an independent investigation of the published data was undertaken by the Editorial Office, which revealed that the 'Inhibitor' data panel in Fig. 6A and the 'Mimic NC' data panel in Fig. 6B were also overlapping, such that these data were likely to have been derived from the same original source, even though these data panels were intended to have shown the results from differently performed experiments. The Editor of Molecular Medicine Reports has considered the authors' request to publish a corrigendum, but given the number of overlapping data panels that have been identified and the number of figures that would be in need of correction, the Editor has decided to decline the authors' request to publish a corrigendum on account of an overall lack of confidence in the presented data, and instead has determined that the paper should be retracted. Upon receiving this news from the Editor, the authors accepted the Editor's decision. The Editor apologizes to the readership of the Journal for any inconvenience caused. The retraction has been agreed following an investigation based on public allegations, and after the authors asked to correct the article. Several flaws and inconsistencies between results presented and experimental methods described were found, and so the editors consider the conclusions of this article to be invalid.

Following some concerns raised on PubPeer regarding a possible manipulation in Figures 2 and 3, the Editor in Chief has started an investigation to assess the validity of the results as well as possible figure manipulation. The authors have been informed about the journal's investigation but remained unresponsive. The journal investigation revealed duplications in panels miR-1294 mimic - Caki01 and Caki01 of Figure 2D and in the Western blots of Figure 3 with previously published articles. Abstract:Following the publication of this article, a concerned reader drew to the Editor's attention that, for the Transwell migration assay experiments shown in Fig. 5B on p. 70, an unexpected area of similarity was identified in terms of the cellular data comparing the 'Control' and 'Inhibitor + si‐SCOS5' data panels, where the results from differently performed experiments were intended to have been shown, although the areas immediately surrounding this area featured comparatively different distributions of cells. In addition, the western blots in this article were presented with atypical, unusually shaped and possibly anomalous protein bands in many cases. After having conducted an internal investigation, the Editor of Oncology Letters has reached the conclusion that the potentially anomalous data in this paper were unlikely to have arisen by coincidence. Therefore, on the grounds of a lack of confidence in the integrity of these data, the Editor has decided that the article should be retracted from the publication. The authors were asked for an explanation to account for these concerns, but the Editorial Office did not receive a reply. The authors requested the publication of a corrigendum; however, after a subsequent investigation of the matter in the Office, as many as three pairs of overlapping data panels were identified comparing the data panels that were intended to have been included in the figures with those that were not.
