Abstract:It was proved in Iwabuchi and Ogawa (J Elliptic Parabol Equ 7(2):571–587, 2021) that the Cauchy problem for the full compressible Navier–Stokes equations of the ideal gas is ill-posed in with and . In this paper, we aim to solve the end-point case left in [17] and prove that the Cauchy problem is ill-posed in with by constructing a sequence of initial data for showing discontinuity of the solution map at zero. As a by-product, we demonstrate that the Cauchy problem for the incompressible Navier–Stokes equations is also ill-posed in , which is an interesting open problem in itself.

Abstract:It is proved in \cite{IO21} that the Cauchy problem for the full compressible Navier--Stokes equations of the ideal gas is ill-posed in $\dot{B}_{p, q}^{2 / p}(\mathbb{R}^2) \times \dot{B}_{p, q}^{2 / p-1}(\mathbb{R}^2) \times \dot{B}_{p, q}^{2 / p-2}(\mathbb{R}^2) $ with $1\leq p\leq \infty$ and $1\leq q<\infty$. Abstract:We prove the ill-posedness for the 3D incompressible inhomogeneous Navier-stokes equations in critical Besov space. In particular, a norm inflation happens in finite time with the initial data satisfying $$\|a_0\|_{\dot{B}_{p,1}^\frac{3}{p}}+\|u_0\|_{\dot{B}_{6,1}^{-\frac{1}{2}}}\le \delta,\ p>6$$ or $$\|a_0\|_{\dot{B}_{6,1}^\frac{1}{2}}+\|u_0\|_{\dot{B}_{p,1}^{\frac{3}{p}-1}}\le \delta,\ p>6.$$ To obtain the norm inflation, we construct a special class of initial data and introduce a modified pressure. Comparing with the classical Navier-Stokes equations in $L^\infty$ framework, we can obtain the ill-posedness for the inhomogeneous case in near $L^6$ framework.

Abstract:Ill-posedness for the compressible Navier–Stokes equations has been proved by Chen et al. [On the ill-posedness of the compressible Navier–Stokes equations in the critical Besov spaces, Revista Mat. Iberoam.31 (2015), 1375–1402] in critical Besov space $L^{p}$$(p>6)$ framework. In this paper, we prove ill-posedness with the initial data satisfying $$\begin{eqnarray}\displaystyle \Vert \unicode[STIX]{x1D70C}_{0}-\bar{\unicode[STIX]{x1D70C}}\Vert _{{\dot{B}}_{p,1}^{\frac{3}{p}}}\leqslant \unicode[STIX]{x1D6FF},\quad \Vert u_{0}\Vert _{{\dot{B}}_{6,1}^{-\frac{1}{2}}}\leqslant \unicode[STIX]{x1D6FF}. & & \displaystyle \nonumber\end{eqnarray}$$ To accomplish this goal, we require a norm inflation coming from the coupling term $L(a)\unicode[STIX]{x1D6E5}u$ instead of $u\cdot \unicode[STIX]{x1D6FB}u$ and construct a new decomposition of the density.

Abstract:We are concerned with the well-posedness of the density-dependent incompressible viscoelastic fluid system. By Schauder-Tychonoff fixed point argument, when $\|{1}/{\rho_0}-1\|_{\dot{B}_{p,1}^{{N}/{p}}}$ is small, local well-posedness is showed to hold in Besov space. Furthermore, provided the initial data $(1/\rho_0 -1,\upsilon_0,U_0-I)$ is small under certain norm, we also get the existence of the global solution.

Abstract:The blow up phenomenon in the first step of the classical Picard's scheme was proved in this paper. For certain initial spaces, Bourgain-Pavlović and Yoneda proved the ill-posedness of the Navier-Stokes equations by showing the norm inflation in certain solution spaces. But Chemin and Gallagher said the space $\dot{B}^{-1,\infty}_{\infty}$ seems to be optimal for some solution spaces best chosen. In this paper, we consider more general initial spaces than Bourgain-Pavlović and Yoneda did and establish ill-posedness result independent of the choice of solution space. Our result is a complement of the previous ill-posedness results on Navier-Stokes equations.

Abstract:We prove global well-posedness for instationary Navier–Stokes equations with initial data in Besov space B^0_n,∞(Ω) in whole and half space, and bounded domains of ℝ^n , n ≥ 3 . To this end, we prove maximal L^∞_γ -regularity of the sectorial operators in some Banach spaces and, in particular, maximal L^∞_γ -regularity of the Stokes operator in little Nikolskii spaces b^s_q,∞(Ω) , s ∈ (-1, 2) , which are of independent significance. Then, based on the maximal regularity results and b^s_1_q_1,∞-B^s_2_q_2,1 estimates of the Stokes semigroups, we prove global well-posedness for Navier–Stokes equations under smallness condition on u_0_B^0_n,∞(Ω) via a fixed point argument using Banach fixed point theorem.

Abstract:We prove the ill-posedness of the 3-D baratropic Navier-Stokes equation for the initial density and velocity belonging to the critical Besov space (B-p,1(3/p) + (rho) over bar, B-p,1(3/p-1)) for p > 6 in the sense that a "norm inflation" happens in finite time, here (rho) over bar is a positive constant. While, the compressible viscous heat-conductive flows is ill-posed for the initial density, velocity and temperature belonging to the critical Besov space (B-p,1(3/p) + (rho) over bar, B-p,1(3/p-1))for p > 3.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the partial regularity of the solutions for the three-dimensional Boussinesq equations. We first prove a criterion of local Hölder continuous of the suitable weak solutions of the Boussinesq equations, and show that one-dimensional Hausdorff measure of the singular point set is zero. Secondly, we present a local uniform gradient estimate on the suitable weak solutions and assert that the local behavior of the solution can be dominated by some scaled quantities, such as the scaled local L3-norm of the velocity. Besides, when the initial data v0 and θ0 decay sufficiently rapidly at ∞, the distribution of the regular point set of the suitable weak solutions is also considered. Based on it, one can find that MHD equations are more similar to Navier–Stokes equations than Boussinesq equations. Finally, we give a local regularity criterion of the suitable weak solutions near the boundary.

Abstract:Consider the equations of Navier–Stokes in $\mathbb{R}^3$ in the rotational setting, i.e., with Coriolis force. It is shown that this set of equations admits a unique, global mild solution provided the initial data is small with respect to the norm of the Fourier–Besov space $FB^{{2-3}/p}_{p,r}(\mathbb{R}^3)$, where $p\; \in \; (1,\infty]\; \mathrm{and}\; r\;\in [1,\infty]$. In the two-dimensional setting, a unique, global mild solution to this set of equations exists for non-small initial data $u_{0} \; \in \;L^p_{\sigma}(\mathbb{R}^2)\;\mathrm{for}\;p \;\in\;[2,\infty).$

Abstract:In this paper, we study the ill-posdness of the Cauchy problem for semilinear wave equation with very low regularity, where the nonlinear term depends on u and ∂ t u . We prove a ill-posedness result for the “defocusing” case, and give an alternative proof for the supercritical “focusing” case, which improves the result in Fang and Wang (Chin. Ann. Math. Ser. B 26 (3), 361–378, 2005).

Moreover, the smoothing effect of the solution to Navier‐Stokes equations is proved, which may have its own interest.

Abstract:We consider the two-dimensional stationary Navier--Stokes equations on the whole plane $\mathbb{R}^2$. In the higher-dimensional cases $\mathbb{R}^n$ with $n \geqslant 3$, the well-posedness and ill-posedness in scaling critical spaces are well-investigated by numerous papers. However, despite the attention of many researchers, the corresponding problem in the two-dimensional whole plane case was a long-standing open problem due to inherent difficulties of two-dimensional analysis. The aim of this paper is to address this issue and prove the ill-posedness in the scaling critical Besov spaces based on $L^p(\mathbb{R}^2)$ for all $1 \leqslant p \leqslant2$ in the sense of the discontinuity of the solution map and the non-existence of small solutions. To overcome the difficulty, we propose a new method based on the contradictory argument that reduces the problem to the analysis of the corresponding nonstationary Navier--Stokes equations and shows the existence of nonstationary solutions with strange large time behavior, if we suppose to contrary that the stationary problem is well-posed.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the initial value problem of the 2D dissipative quasigeostrophic equations. Existence and uniqueness of the solution global in time are proved in the homogenous Besov space $\dot B_{p,\infty }^{Sp} $with small data when $\frac{1}{2} < \alpha \leqslant 1,\frac{2}{{2\alpha - 1}} < p < \infty ,s_p = \frac{2}{p} - (2\alpha - 1)$. Our proof is based on a new characterization of the homogenous Besov space and Kato’s method.
Illposedness of incompressible fluids in supercritical Sobolev spaces

Abstract:We prove that the 3D Euler and Navier-Stokes equations are strongly illposed in supercritical Sobolev spaces. In the inviscid case, for any $0 < s < \frac{5}{2} $, we construct a $C^\infty_c$ initial velocity field with arbitrarily small $H^{s}$ norm for which the unique local-in-time smooth solution of the 3D Euler equation develops large $\dot{H}^{s}$ norm inflation almost instantaneously. In the viscous case, the same $\dot{H}^{s}$ norm inflation occurs in the 3D Navier-Stokes equation for $0< s < \frac{1}{2} $, where $s = \frac{1}{2}$ is scaling critical for this equation.

Abstract:Several regularity criterions of Leray-Hopf weak solutions $u$ to the 3D Navier-Stokes equations are obtained. The results show that a weak solution $u$ becomes regular if the gradient of velocity component $\nabla_{h}{u}$ (or $ \nabla{u_3}$) satisfies the additional conditions in the class of $L^{q}(0,T; \dot{B}_{p,r}^{s}(\mathbb{R}^{3}))$, where $\nabla_{h}=(\partial_{x_{1}},\partial_{x_{2}})$ is the horizontal gradient operator. Besides, we also consider the anisotropic regularity criterion for the weak solution of Navier-Stokes equations in $\mathbb{R}^3$. Finally, we also get a further regularity criterion, when give the sufficient condition on $\partial_3u_3$.

Abstract:Consider the Stokes equations in the half-space R + n , n ≧ 2 . It is shown that the negative of the Stokes operator defined on the homogeneous Besov space B ˙ p , q , σ s ( R + n ) generates a bounded strongly continuous semigroup in B ˙ p , q s ( R + n ) provided that 1 < p < ∞ , 1 ≦ q < ∞ , and − 1 + 1 / p < s < 1 / p . As a by-product, the maximal L q -regularity of the Stokes operator is obtained, admitting the limiting case q = 1 . This will be applied to develop the global well-posedness result for the incompressible Navier–Stokes equations in the maximal L 1 -regularity class provided that the initial data are small in B ˙ p , 1 − 1 + n / p ( R + n ) with n − 1 < p < ∞ . The dependence of the solution on initial data and the large time behavior of the solution are investigated.

Abstract:This paper addresses the existence and uniqueness of mild solution for fractional Navier–Stokes equation in the homogeneous Besov spaces. The existence and uniqueness of the global mild solution with small initial data is established. The results on existence and uniqueness of the local mild solution for arbitrary initial data are also studied. Meanwhile, we obtain properties about the regularity and decay of mild solutions. These conclusions are mainly based on the fixed point theorems, the implicit function theorem on Banach spaces and the properties of Mittag–Leffler functions.
