Abstract:We will prove multiplicity results for the mixed local-nonlocal elliptic equation of the form \begin{eqnarray} \begin{split} -\Delta_pu+(-\Delta)_p^s u&=\frac{\lambda}{u^{\gamma}}+u^r \text { in } \Omega, \\u&>0 \text{ in } \Omega,\\u&=0 \text { in }\mathbb{R}^n \backslash \Omega; \end{split} \end{eqnarray} where \begin{equation*} (-\Delta )_p^s u(x)= c_{n,s}\operatorname{P.V.}\int_{\mathbb{R}^n}\frac{|u(x)-u(y)|^{p-2}(u(x)-u(y))}{|x-y|^{n+sp}} d y, \end{equation*} and $-\Delta_p$ is the usual $p$-Laplace operator. Under the assumptions that $\Omega$ is a bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^{n}$ with regular enough boundary, $p>1$, $n> p$, $s\in(0,1)$, $\lambda>0$ and $r\in(p-1,p^*-1)$ where $p^*$ is the critical Sobolev exponent, we will show there exist at least two weak solutions to our problem for $0<\gamma<1$ and some certain values of $\lambda$. Further, for every $\gamma>0$, assuming strict convexity of $\Omega$, for $p=2$ and $s\in(0,1/2)$, we will show the existence of at least two positive weak solutions to the problem, for small values of $\lambda$, extending the result of \cite{garaingeometric}. Here $c_{n,s}$ is a suitable normalization constant, and $\operatorname{P.V.}$ stands for Cauchy Principal Value.

Abstract:This article is concerned with ``up to $C^{2, \alpha}$-regularity results'' about a mixed local-nonlocal nonlinear elliptic equation which is driven by the superposition of Laplacian and fractional Laplacian operators. First of all, an estimate on the $L^\infty$ norm of weak solutions is established for more general cases than the ones present in the literature, including here critical nonlinearities. We then prove the interior $C^{1,\alpha}$-regularity and the $C^{1,\alpha}$-regularity up to the boundary of weak solutions, which extends previous results by the authors [X. Su, E. Valdinoci, Y. Wei and J. Zhang, Math. Z. (2022)], where the nonlinearities considered were of subcritical type. In addition, we establish the interior $C^{2,\alpha}$-regularity of solutions for all $s\in(0,1)$ and the $C^{2,\alpha}$-regularity up to the boundary for all $s\in(0,\frac{1}{2})$, with sharp regularity exponents. For further perusal, we also include a strong maximum principle and some properties about the principal eigenvalue.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the semilinear subelliptic equation \[ \left\{ \begin{array}{cc} -\triangle_{X} u=f(x,u)+g(x,u) & \mbox{in}~\Omega, \\[2mm] u=0\hfill & \mbox{on}~\partial\Omega, \end{array} \right. \] where $\triangle_{X}=-\sum_{i=1}^{m}X_{i}^{*}X_{i}$ is the self-adjoint Hörmander operator associated with vector fields $X=(X_{1},X_{2},\ldots,X_{m})$ satisfying the Hörmander condition, $f(x,u)\in C(\overline{\Omega}\times \mathbb{R})$, $g(x,u)$ is a Carathéodory function on $\Omega\times \mathbb{R}$, and $\Omega$ is an open bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^n$ with smooth boundary. Combining the perturbation from symmetry method with the approaches involving eigenvalue estimate and Morse index in estimating the min-max values, we obtain two kinds of existence results for multiple weak solutions to the problem above. Furthermore, we discuss the difference between the eigenvalue estimate approach and the Morse index approach in degenerate situations. Compared with the classical elliptic cases, both approaches here have their own strengths in the degenerate cases. This new phenomenon implies the results in general degenerate cases would be quite different from the situations in classical elliptic cases.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with a class of nonhomogeneous quasilinear elliptic system driven by the locally symmetric potential and the small continuous perturbations in the whole-space $\mathbb{R}^N$. By a variant of Clark's theorem without the global symmetric condition and a Moser's iteration technique, we obtain the existence of multiple solutions when the nonlinear term satisfies some growth conditions only in a circle with center 0 and the perturbation term is any continuous function with a small parameter and no any growth hypothesis.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove the existence of weak, veryweak and duality solutions to a class of elliptic problems involving singularity and measure data which is given by: $-\Delta u+(-\Delta)^s u = \frac{f(x)}{u^\gamma} +\mu$ in $\Omega$ with the zero Dirichlet boundary data $u=0$ in $\mathbb R^N \setminus \Omega$. The existence of weak solutions is obtained by approximating a sequence of problems for $0<\gamma\leq1$ and $\gamma>1$. We employ Schauder's fixed point theorem and embeddings of Marcinkiewicz spaces. The novelty of our work is that we prove the existence of a duality solution and its equivalence with weak solutions to the problem $\mathcal{L}u=\mu$. Moreover, we prove a veryweak maximum principle and a Kato-type inequality for the mixed local-nonlocal operator $\mathcal{L}=-\Delta +(-\Delta)^s$, which are crucial tools to guarantee the existence of veryweak solutions to the problem. Using a Kato-type inequality, maximum principle together with sub-super solution method, we prove the existence of veryweak solution for $0<\gamma<1$. Our work extends the studies due to Oliva and Petitta [ESAIM Control Optim. Calc. Var., 22(1):289--308, 2016.] and Petitta [Adv. Nonlinear Stud., 16(1):115--124, 2016.] for the mixed local-nonlocal operator.

Abstract:In this paper, we mainly establish the existence of at least three non-trivial solutions for a class of nonhomogeneous quasilinear elliptic systems with Dirichlet boundary value or Neumann boundary value in a bounded domain $\Omega\subset\mathbb{R}^N $ and $N\geq 1$. We exploit the method which is based on [6]. This method let us obtain the concrete open interval about the parameter $\lambda$. Since the quasilinear term depends on $u$ and $\nabla u$, it is necessary for our proofs to use the theory of monotone operators and the skill of adding one dimension to space.

Abstract:In this work, we consider a mixed local and nonlocal Dirichlet problem with supercritical nonlinearity. We first establish a multiplicity result for the problem \begin{equation} Lu=|u|^{p-2}u+\mu|u|^{q-2}u~~\text{in}~~\Omega,~~~~~ u=0~~\text{in}~~\mathbb{R}^N\setminus\Omega,~~~ (0.1) \end{equation} where $L=-\Delta+(-\Delta)^s$ for $s\in(0,1)$ and $\Omega\subset\mathbb{R}^N$ is a bounded domain. Precisely, we show that problem (0.1) for $1<q<2<p$ has a positive solution as well as a sequence of sign-changing solutions with a negative energy for small values of $\mu$. Here $u$ can be either a scalar function, or a vector valued function so that (0.1) turns into a system with supercritical nonlinearity. Moreover, whenever the domain is symmetric, we also prove the existence of symmetric solutions enjoying the same symmetry properties. We shall also prove an existence result for the supercritical Hamiltonian system \begin{equation} Lu=|v|^{p-2}v,~~~~~~~ Lv=|u|^{d-2}u+\mu |u|^{q-2}u \end{equation} with the Dirichlet boundary condition on $\Omega$ where $1<q<2<p, d$. Our method is variational, and in both problems the lack of compactness for the supercritical problem is recovered by working on a closed convex subset of an appropriate function space.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish existence of infinitely many weak solutions for a class of quasilinear stationary Kirchhoff‐type equations, which involves a general variable exponent elliptic operator with critical growth. Precisely, we study the following nonlocal problem: where Ω is a bounded smooth domain of , with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions on ∂ Ω, the nonlinearity is a continuous function, is a function of the class is a continuous function, whose properties will be introduced later, λ is a positive parameter and . We assume that , where is the critical Sobolev exponent. We will prove that the problem has infinitely many solutions and also we obtain the asymptotic behavior of the solution as λ → 0 + . Furthermore, we emphasize that a difference with previous researches is that the conditions on a (·) are general overall enough to incorporate some interesting differential operators. Our work covers a feature of the Kirchhoff's problems, that is, the fact that the Kirchhoff's function M in zero is different from zero, it also covers a wide class of nonlocal problems for p ( x ) > 1, for all . The main tool to find critical points of the Euler–Lagrange functional associated with this problem is through a suitable truncation argument, concentration‐compactness principle for variable exponent found in Bonder and Silva (2010), and the genus theory introduced by Krasnoselskii. The result of this paper extends or complements, or else completes recent papers and is new in several directions for the stationary Kirchhoff equations involving the p ( x )‐Laplacian type operators.

Abstract:In this work, we shall investigate existence and multiplicity of solutions for a nonlocal elliptic systems driven by the fractional Laplacian. Specifically, we establish the existence of two positive solutions for following class of nonlocal elliptic systems: \begin{equation*} \left\{\begin{array}{lll} (-\Delta)^su +V_1(x)u = \lambda|u|^{p - 2}u+ \frac{\alpha}{\alpha+\beta}\theta |u|^{\alpha - 2}u|v|^{\beta}, \;\;\; \mbox{in}\;\;\; \mathbb{R}^N, (-\Delta)^sv +V_2(x)v= \lambda|v|^{q - 2}v+ \frac{\beta}{\alpha+\beta}\theta |u|^{\alpha}|v|^{\beta-2}v, \;\;\; \mbox{in}\;\;\; \mathbb{R}^N, (u, v) \in H^s(\mathbb{R}^N) \times H^s(\mathbb{R}^N). \end{array}\right. \end{equation*} Here we mention that $\alpha > 1, \beta > 1, 1 \leq p \leq q < 2 < \alpha + \beta < 2^*_s$, $\theta > 0, \lambda > 0, N > 2s$, and $s \in (0,1)$. Notice also that continuous potentials $V_1, V_2: \mathbb{R}^N \to \mathbb{R}$ satisfy some extra assumptions. Furthermore, we find the largest positive number $\lambda^* > 0$ such that our main problem admits at least two positive solutions for each $ \lambda \in (0, \lambda^*)$. This can be done by using the nonlinear Rayleigh quotient together with the Nehari method. The main feature here is to minimize the energy functional in Nehari manifold which allows us to prove our main results without any restriction on size of parameter $\theta > 0$.

Abstract:In this article, we investigate generalized solutions for elliptic equations involving double-phase (p(x),q(x)) -Laplacian operators with Hardy potential in variable exponent spaces. (p(x),q(x)) -Laplacian operators include p -Laplacian, q -Laplacian, p(x) -Laplacian and q(x) -Laplacian operators. Additionally, (p(x),q(x)) -Laplacian elliptic equations with singular coefficients under mixed boundary conditions are seldom mentioned in previous work. Some new theorems of the existence on the generalized solutions are reestablished for such equations via variational methods when the nonlinearity satisfies suitable hypotheses in variable exponent Lebesgue spaces.

Abstract:This paper focuses on the investigation of a class of singular differential systems with non-local boundary conditions. Its primary objective is to establish the variational structure of the non-local singular differential systems, and systematically explore multiple solutions through the application of the variational method. A significant achievement of this research is the demonstration that the energy functional satisfies the Cerami condition within an appropriate Sobolev's space. The derivation of key results is facilitated by the strategic application of the Minimization sequence and Fountain Theorem. Furthermore, even in cases where the nonlinear term fails to meet the Ambrosetti–Rabinowitz condition, this paper successfully applies the variational method to address the associated problems. The challenges addressed in this study include proving the convergence of the solution sequence, ensuring the continuous differentiability of the energy functional, and showcasing the embedding property of space. Distinguishing itself from existing research, this paper innovatively constructs a variational framework tailored specifically for singular differential systems with non-local boundary conditions. The utilization of variational methods enables a meticulous and systematic exploration into the solvability of these intricate problems.

Abstract:We investigate the existence of multiple positive solutions for the following Dirichlet boundary value problem: \begin{equation*} \begin{aligned} -\Delta_p u + (-\Delta_p)^s u = \lambda \frac{f(u)}{u^{\beta}}\ \text{in} \ \Omega\newline u >0\ \text{in} \ \Omega,\ u =0\ \text{in} \ \mathbb{R}^N \setminus \Omega \end{aligned} \end{equation*} where $\Omega$ is an arbitrary bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^N$ with smooth boundary, $0\leq \beta<1$ and $f$ is a non-decreasing $C^1$-function which is $p$-sublinear at infinity and satisfies $f(0)>0$. By employing the method of sub- and supersolutions, we establish the existence of a positive solution for every $\lambda>0$ and that of two positive solutions for a certain range of the parameter $\lambda$. In the non-singular case (i.e. when $\beta=0$) and in the linear case with singularity (i.e. when $p=2$ and $0<\beta<1$), we further apply Amann's fixed point theorem to show that the problem admits at least three positive solutions within this range of $\lambda$. The mixed local-nonlocal nature of the operator and the non-linearity pose challenges in constructing sub- and supersolutions, however, these are effectively addressed through the operator's homogeneity.

Abstract:This paper considers a local and non-local problem characterized by singular nonlinearity and a source term. Specifically, we focus on the following problem: \begin{equation}\label{A}\tag{P} -\Delta_{p} u + (-\Delta)^{s}_{q} u = f(x) u^{-\alpha} + g(x) u^{\beta}, \quad u > 0 \quad \text{in } \Omega; \quad u = 0, \quad \text{in } \mathbb{R}^{N} \setminus \Omega, \end{equation} where $ \Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^N $ is an open bounded domain with a $ C^{2} $ boundary $ \partial \Omega $, and $ N > p $. We assume that $ 0 < s < 1 $ and $ 1 < p, q < \infty $, with the conditions $ q = p $ or $ q < p $, corresponding to the homogeneous and non-homogeneous cases, respectively. The parameters satisfy $ 0 < \beta < q - 1 $ and $ \alpha > 0 $. The function $ f $ is non-zero and belongs to a suitable Lebesgue space $ L^{r}(\Omega) $ for some $ r \in [1, \infty] $, or satisfies a growth condition involving negative powers of the distance function $ d(\cdot) $ near the boundary $ \partial \Omega $. Additionally, $ g $ is a nonnegative function within appropriate Lebesgue spaces. The primary objectives of this paper are twofold. First, we establish the uniqueness of infinite energy solutions to problem \eqref{A} by introducing a novel comparison principle under certain conditions. Second, we derive several existence results for weak solutions in various senses, accompanied by regularity results for problem \eqref{A}. Furthermore, we present a non-existence result when the function $ f(x) \sim d^{-\delta}(x) $ and $ x $ is near the boundary, under the condition $ \delta \geq p $. Our approach leverages the Picone identities on one hand and the interaction between the local and non-local terms on the other hand.

Abstract:We study mixed local and nonlocal elliptic equation with a variable coefficient $\rho$. Under suitable assumptions on the behaviour at infinity of $\rho$, we obtain uniqueness of solutions belonging to certain weighted Lebsgue spaces, with a weight depending on the coefficient $\rho$. The hypothesis on $\rho$ is optimal; indeed, when it fails we get nonuniqueness of solutions. We also investigate the parabolic counterpart of such equation.
