Numerical Heat Transfer Part A Applications
Abstract:This study provides a comprehensive investigation into the complex dynamics of thin-film flow and heat transfer within porous media, with a specific focus on the shape-dependent behavior of Al2O3 nanoparticles. The research encompasses various influential factors, including viscous dissipation, Ohmic heating, electric fields, velocity slip, and convective boundary conditions. To elucidate these intricate dynamics, the governing partial differential equations are transformed into ordinary differential equations via similarity transformations. The numerical solutions are obtained using a combination of fourth-order Runge-Kutta integration and the shooting method. The results are presented visually through velocity and temperature profiles, and the effects of pertinent parameters are meticulously examined. Our findings reveal significant trends. An increase in magnetic field and porosity parameters results in velocity deceleration, while the inclination angle parameter and Richardson's number exhibit the opposite effect. The electric field parameter, Eckert number, magnetic field parameter, and nanoparticle volume fraction enhance temperature, while velocity slip diminishes. Notably, platelet-shaped nanoparticles demonstrate superior heat transfer enhancement compared to other shapes. This research rigorously validates its outcomes by comparing them with existing literature reports, ensuring the robustness and reliability of the results. Also, this study provides valuable insights into nanofluid transport phenomena within porous media.
