Abstract:This study examines the stability and numerical simulation of the generalized fractional-order Fisher equation. The equation serves as a mathematical model describing population dynamics under the influence of factors such as natural selection and migration. We propose an implicit exponential finite difference method to solve this equation, considering the conformable fractional derivative. Furthermore, we analyze the stability of the method through theoretical considerations. The method involves transforming the problem into systems of nonlinear equations at each time since our method is an implicit method, which is then solved by converting them into linear equations systems using the Newton method. To test the accuracy of the method, we compare the results obtained with exact solutions and with those available in the literature. Additionally, we examine the symmetry of the graphs obtained from the solution to examine the results. The findings of our numerical simulations demonstrate the effectiveness and reliability of the proposed approach in solving the generalized fractional-order Fisher equation.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is about the stability analysis and numerical simulation of the generalized fractional - order Fisher equation. The Fisher equation is a mathematical model that describes population dynamics, taking into account the influence of factors such as natural selection and migration. The author proposes an implicit exponential finite - difference method to solve this equation and uses the conformable fractional derivative. Through theoretical analysis and numerical experiments, the stability and accuracy of this method are verified. ### Specific problems 1. **Mathematical model**: - The mathematical model studied in the paper is the generalized fractional - order Fisher equation, which has the following form: \[ \frac{\partial^\alpha u}{\partial t^\alpha} - \frac{\partial^2 u}{\partial x^2} - \rho u^\gamma (1 - u) = 0, \quad a \leq x \leq b, \quad t > 0 \] - Here, \(\alpha\) is the order of the fractional - order derivative, \(0 < \alpha \leq 1\), and \(\rho\) and \(\gamma\) are parameters. 2. **Numerical method**: - The author proposes an implicit exponential finite - difference method to solve the above equation. This method involves transforming the problem into a system of nonlinear equations and then transforming it into a system of linear equations by Newton's method for solution. 3. **Stability analysis**: - Through the Fourier method and von Neumann theory, the stability analysis of the proposed numerical method is carried out, and it is proved that this method is unconditionally stable in any case. 4. **Numerical experiments**: - The author verifies the effectiveness and accuracy of the method through two different problems. For the first problem, the exact solution is given and compared with the numerical solution; for the second problem, there is no exact solution, but by comparing with the results in other literatures, the accuracy of the method is verified. ### Main contributions - **Method innovation**: An implicit exponential finite - difference method is proposed, which is a new numerical method suitable for solving fractional - order partial differential equations. - **Stability proof**: Through theoretical analysis, the unconditional stability of this method is proved. - **Numerical verification**: Through specific numerical experiments, the effectiveness and accuracy of the method are verified. ### Conclusion - This method can effectively solve the generalized fractional - order Fisher equation and has good stability and accuracy. - This method can be applied to the solution of other time - fractional - order linear or nonlinear equations and has broad application prospects.
