Abstract:Periodontitis is an immunoinflammatory disease of the periodontal tissues caused by microbiota imbalance. [ 1 ] It affects approximately 61.9% of the global population, [ 2 , 3 ] posing a significant threat to human health. In addition to immune-inflammation, genetic factors play a crucial role in periodontitis, particularly among young patients, and are responsible for up to 50% of periodontitis cases. [ 4 , 5 ] Periodontitis is closely associated with various systemic diseases, including hypertensive heart disease, metabolic disorders such as diabetes, autoimmune diseases, and even cancer. [ 6–11 ]
