Abstract:In this paper we study the existence of closed convex hypersurfaces in the Euclidean space Rn+1 such that a Weingarten curvature, regarded as a function of their unit normal, is equal to a given positive function on the unit sphere Sn. Two classical problems of this type, namely the Christoffel problem [6] and the Minkowski problem [16], which address respectively the cases of harmonic and Gauss curvature, were completely solved in the 1970’s [7,9,17]. Besides the harmonic and Gauss curvatures, the most interesting Weingarten curvatures are probably the mean curvature, or more generally the k-curvatures (1 ≤ k ≤ n)

Abstract:In this paper, we study the existence of solutions to the centroaffine Minkowski problem, namely the existence of closed convex hypersurfaces in the Euclidean space R n + 1 \mathbb {R}^{n+1} with prescribed centroaffine curvature. This problem can be described as a variational problem with a functional resembling Kantorovich’s dual functional in optimal transportation. By using the Gauss curvature flow, we obtain new conditions for the existence of solutions to the problem.

Abstract:Given a function f > 0 on the unit sphere n +1 , the Minkowski problem in the sphere concerns the existence of convex hypersurfaces M subset of(n +1) such that the Gauss curvature of M at z is equal to f (v( z )), where v(z) is the unit outer normal of M at z . We use the min-max principle and the Gauss curvature flow to prove that there are at least two solutions to the problem. By using the rotating plane method in the sphere, we also show the existence of a rotationally symmetric and monotone function f such that there are exactly two solutions.

Abstract:In this paper, we resolve the planar dual Minkowski problem, proposed by Huang et al. (2016) [31] for all positive indices without any symmetry assumption. More precisely, given any q>0, and function f on S1, bounded by two positive constants, we show that there exists a convex body Ω in the plane, containing the origin in its interior, whose dual curvature measure C˜q(Ω,⋅) has density f. In particular, if f is smooth, then ∂Ω is also smooth.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove the existence of smooth, entire, strictly convex, spacelike, constant $$\sigma _k$$ curvature hypersurfaces with prescribed lightlike directions in Minkowski space. This is equivalent to prove the existence of smooth, entire, strictly convex, spacelike, constant $$\sigma _k$$ curvature hypersurfaces with prescribed Gauss map image. We also show that there doesn’t exist any entire, convex, strictly spacelike, constant $$\sigma _k$$ curvature hypersurfaces. Moreover, we generalize the result in Ren et al. (Entire spacelike hypersufaces with constant $$\sigma _{n-1}$$ curvature in Minkowski space. Preprint, arXiv:2005.06109 ) and construct strictly convex, spacelike, constant $$\sigma _k$$ curvature hypersurface with bounded principal curvature, whose image of the Gauss map is the unit ball.

Abstract:Let M be an n-dimensional closed hypersurface with constant mean curvature and constant scalar curvature in a unit sphere. Denote by H and S the mean curvature and the squared length of the second fundamental form. We prove that if a(n, H) <= S <= alpha( n, H)+ CnH2, where n >= 4 and H not equal 0, then S = alpha( n, H) and M is a Clifford torus Sn-1(r(1)) x S-1(r(2)). Here alpha(n, H) = n + n(3)/2(n -1) H-2 - n(n - 2)/2(n - 1) root n(2)H(4) + 4(n - 1) H-2, and C-n is a positive constant explicitly depending on n. The emphasis is that our gap theorem imposes no restriction on the range of mean curvature. Moreover, we obtain gap theorems for complete hypersurfaces with constant mean curvature and constant scalar curvature in space forms.

Abstract:By using curvature estimates, we prove that a complete non-compact hypersurface M with constant mean curvature and finiteL n -norm curvature in R n+1 must be minimal, so that M is a hyperplane if it is strongly stable. This is a generalization of the result on stable complete minimal hypersurfaces of R n+1. Moreover, complete strongly stable hypersurfaces with constant mean curvature and finite L 1-norm curvature in R n+1 are considered.

Abstract:In this paper, we study fully nonlinear curvature flows of noncompact spacelike hypersurfaces in Minkowski space. We prove that if the initial hypersurface satisfies certain conditions, then the flow exists for all time. Moreover, we show that after rescaling the flow converges to the future timelike hyperboloid, which is a self-expander.

Abstract:We prove three results in this paper: First, we prove, for a wide class of functions phi is an element of C2(Sn-1) and psi(X, nu) is an element of C2(Rn+1 x Hn), there exists a unique, entire, strictly convex, spacelike hypersurface Mu satisfying sigma k(kappa[Mu]) = psi(X, nu) and u(x) -> |x| + phi(x/|x|) as |x| -> infinity. Second, when k = n-1, n-2, we show the existence and uniqueness of an entire, k -convex, spacelike hypersurface Mu satisfying sigma k(kappa[Mu]) = psi(x, u(x)) and u(x) -> |x| + phi(x/|x|) as |x| -> infinity. Last, we obtain the existence and uniqueness of entire, strictly convex, downward translating solitons Mu with prescribed asymptotic behavior at infinity for sigma k curvature flow equations. Moreover, we prove that the downward translating solitons Mu have bounded principal curvatures.

Abstract:Let M be an n (>= 7)-dimensional complete submanifold with parallel mean curvature in the hyperbolic space Hn+p, whose mean curvature satisfies H-2-1 <= 0. Denote by angstrom and B-R(q) the trace free second fundamental form of M and the geodesic ball of radius R centered at q is an element of M, respectively. We prove that if lim(R ->infinity) sup integral(vertical bar angstrom vertical bar 2dM)(BR(q))/R-2 and if (integral(M)vertical bar angstrom vertical bar(n) dM)(2/n) + 2n(n-2)/3 root n(n-1) H(integral(M)vertical bar angstrom vertical bar(n/2)dM)(2/n) <= C(n), then M is congruent to an n-dimensional hyperbolic space or the Euclidean space R-n. Abstract:Abstract 1. Introduction In this paper we are concerned with spacelike convex hypersurfaces of positive constant (Κ-hypersurfaces) or prescribed Gauss curvature in Minkowski space ℝ n, 1 (n ≧ 2). Any such hypersurface may be written locally as the graph of a convex function x n+1 = u(x), x ε ℝ n satisfying the spacelike condition (1.1) |Du| < 1 and the Monge-Ampère type equation (1.2) where ψ is a prescribed positive function (the Gauss curvature). Our main purpose is to study entire solutions on ℝ n of (1.1)–(1.2). For ψ = 1 a well known entire solution of (1.1)–(1.2) is the hyperboloid (1.3) which gives an isometric embedding of the hyperbolic space ℍ n into ℝ n, 1. Hano and Nomizu [J. Hano and K. Nomizu, On isometric immersions of the hyperbolic plane into the Lorentz-Minkowski space and the Monge-Ampère equation of a certain type, Math. Ann. 262 (1983), 245–253.] were probably the first to observe the non-uniqueness of isometric embeddings of ℍ2 in ℝ2, 1 by constructing other (geometrically distinct) entire solutions of (1.1)–(1.2) for n = 2 (and ψ ≡ 1) using methods of ordinary differential equations. Using the theory of Monge-Ampère equations, A.-M. Li [A.-M. Li, Spacelike hypersurfaces with constant Gauss-Kronecker curvature in the Minkowski space, Arch. Math. 64 (1995), 534–551.] studied entire spacelike Κ-hypersurfaces with uniformly bounded principal curvatures, while the Dirichlet problem for (1.1)–(1.2) in a bounded domain Ω ⊂ ℝ n was treated by Delanoë [Ph. Delanoë, The Dirichlet problem for an equation of given Lorentz-Gaussian curvature, Ukrainian Math. J. 42 (1990), 1538–1545.] when Ω is strictly convex, and by Guan [B. Guan, The Dirichlet problem for Monge-Ampère equations in non-convex domains and spacelike hyper-surfaces of constant Gauss curvature, Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 350 (1998), 4955–4971.] for general (non-convex) Ω. In this paper we are interested in entire spacelike Κ-hypersurfaces, and more generally hypersurfaces of prescribed Gauss curvature, without a boundedness assumption on principal curvatures.

Abstract:In [19], we prove that if an entire, spacelike, convex hypersurface Mu0 has bounded principal curvatures, then the σk1/α (power of σk) curvature flow starting from Mu0 admits a smooth convex solution u for t>0. Moreover, after rescaling, the flow converges to a convex self-expander M˜={(x,u˜(x))|x∈Rn} that satisfies σk(κ[M˜])=(−〈X0,ν0〉)α. Unfortunately, the existence of self-expander for power of σk curvature flow in Minkowski space has not been studied before. In this paper, we fill the gap.

Abstract: In this paper, we investigate the existence and uniqueness of convex, entire, spacelike hypersurfaces of constant $\sigma_k$ curvature with prescribed set of lightlike directions $\mathcal{F}\subset\mathbb{S}^{n-1}$ and perturbation $q$ on $\mathcal{F}$. We prove that given a closed set $\mathcal{F}$ in the ideal boundary at infinity of hyperbolic space and a perturbation $q$ that satisfies some mild conditions, there exists a complete entire spacelike constant $\sigma_k$ curvature hypersurface $\mathcal{M}_u$ with prescribed set of lightlike directions $\mathcal{F}$ satisfying when $\frac{x}{|x|}\in\mathcal{F},$ as $|x|\rightarrow\infty,$ $u(x)-|x|\rightarrow q\left(\frac{x}{|x|}\right).$ This result is new even for the case of constant Gauss curvature. We also prove that when the Gauss map image is a half disc $\bar{B}_1^+$ and the perturbation $q\equiv 0,$ if a CMC hypersurface $\mathcal{M}_u$ satisfies $|u(x)-V_{\bar{\mathcal{B}}_+}(x)|$ is bounded, then $u(x)$ is unique.

Abstract:We show that every regular domain $\mathcal D$ in Minkowski space $\mathbb R^{n,1}$ which is not a wedge admits an entire hypersurface whose domain of dependence is $\mathcal D$ and whose scalar curvature is a prescribed constant (or function, under suitable hypotheses) in $(-\infty,0)$. Under rather general assumptions, these hypersurfaces are unique and provide foliations of $\mathcal D$. As an application, we show that every maximal globally hyperbolic Cauchy compact flat spacetime admits a foliation by hypersurfaces of constant scalar curvature, generalizing to any dimension previous results of Barbot-Béguin-Zeghib (for $n=2$) and Smith (for $n=3$).
