Abstract:Herein, a novel protocol was constructed for the synthesis of highly functionalized 2,4-diarylpyridines. In this reaction, α,β-unsaturated ketoxime acetates and enaminones were used as substrates in a one-pot cascade reaction, which included a Michael reaction, intramolecular cyclization, dehydrogenation, and the removal of HOAc. This reaction resulted in the formation and cleavage of two bonds by refluxing a mixture of the starting materials in toluene and in the presence of the catalyst Fe(OTf)3. As a result, a series of functionalized pyridines were produced through a complex cascade reaction. This protocol can be used to synthesize functionalized asymmetrical 2,4-diarylpyridines. This approach is suitable for the combinatorial and parallel syntheses of pyridine derivatives in a one-pot reaction rather than traditional tedious multi-step reactions.
