Abstract:Background: Dysphagia is a common complication of stroke that can result in serious consequences. In recent years, more and more papers on post-stroke dysphagia have been published in various journals. However, there is still a lack of bibliometric analysis of post-stroke dysphagia. This study visually analyzes the global research situation of post-stroke dysphagia from 2013 to 2022, aiming to explore the current research status, frontier trends, and research hotspots in this field. Methods: Articles and reviews relevant to post-stroke dysphagia were obtained and retrieved from the Web of Science core collection database in the last 10 years (from 2013 to 2022). CiteSpace and Microsoft Excel 2019 were used for bibliographic analysis. Results: A total of 1,447 articles were included in the analysis. The number of publications showed an overall upward trend, from 72 in 2013 to 262 in 2022. The most influential authors, institutions, journals, and countries were Hamdy S, University of London, Dysphagia, and the People's Republic of China. An analysis of keywords and the literature indicated that current studies in the field of post-stroke dysphagia focused on dysphagia and aspiration, dysphagia classification, dysphagia rehabilitation, and daily living. Conclusion: This bibliometric analysis reveals the latest advancements and emerging trends in the field of post-stroke dysphagia, spanning the years 2013 to 2022. It highlights the paramount importance of conducting large-scale randomized controlled trials examining the efficacy of dysphagia screening protocols and non-invasive intervention techniques in improving the quality of life for these patients. Such research efforts hold significant academic implications for the development of evidence-based treatment strategies in this field.

Abstract:Background: Post-stroke dysphagia (PSD) is one of the most prevalent stroke sequelae, affecting stroke patients' prognosis, rehabilitation results, and quality of life while posing a significant cost burden. Although studies have been undertaken to characterize the pathophysiology, epidemiology, and risk factors of post-stroke dysphagia, there is still a paucity of research trends and hotspots on this subject. The purpose of this study was to create a visual knowledge map based on bibliometric analysis that identifies research hotspots and predicts future research trends. Methods: We searched the Web of Science Core Collection for material on PSD rehabilitation research from its inception until July 27, 2023. We used CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and Bibliometrix R software packages to evaluate the annual number of publications, nations, institutions, journals, authors, references, and keywords to describe present research hotspots and prospective research orientations. Results: This analysis comprised 1,097 articles from 3,706 institutions, 374 journals, and 239 countries or regions. The United States had the most publications (215 articles), and it is the most influential country on the subject. "Dysphagia" was the most published journal (100 articles) and the most referenced journal (4,606 citations). Highly cited references focused on the pathophysiology and neuroplasticity mechanisms of PSD, therapeutic modalities, rehabilitation tactics, and complications prevention. There was a strong correlation between the terms "validity" and "noninvasive," which were the strongest terms in PSD rehabilitation research. The most significant words in PSD rehabilitation research were "validity" and "noninvasive brain stimulation," which are considered two of the most relevant hotspots in the field. Conclusion: We reviewed the research in the field of PSD rehabilitation using bibliometrics to identify research hotspots and cutting-edge trends in the field, primarily including the pathogenesis and neurological plasticity mechanisms of PSD, complications, swallowing screening and assessment methods, and swallowing rehabilitation modalities, and this paper can provide in the follow-up research in the field of PSD rehabilitation. The results of this study can provide insightful data for subsequent studies in the field of PSD rehabilitation.

Abstract:Background: Dysphagia represents one of the common complications following a stroke, and post-stroke dysphagia (PSD) can lead to aspiration, pneumonia, and malnutrition, thus prolonging hospital stay, escalating medical expenditures, and imposing a substantial economic strain on both patients and society. The utilization of bibliometric analysis offers a quantitative approach for investigating the existing literature and recognizes the current status of the research. However, bibliometric analysis on the subject of PSD remains absent. Consequently, we carried out this study to provide researchers with insights, facilitating their further exploration of PSD. Methods: Conducting a bibliometric analysis of articles pertaining to PSD retrieved over the past two decades enables us to acquire the research hotspots and trends in this area. The publications concerning PSD were searched from the Core Collection of Web of Science, spanning the period ranging from 2003 to 2023. Articles or reviews published in English were included in this study. Subsequently, we employed CiteSpace and VOSviewer software to visualize the retrieved articles, thereby identifying the cooperative relationships of authors, institutions, and countries, as well as relevant information about journals and references. Results: This study comprised 866 papers in total, and the number of articles published each year shows an overall growth trend. As for the analysis of the authors, Dziewas R. was the most prolific author with 21 articles. The most frequently published institutions, countries, and journals were the University of Manchester, China, and Dysphagia , with 28, 254, and 75 publications, respectively. And the co-cited authors and journals with the highest counts were Martino R and Stroke . According to the analysis of keywords and references, dysphagia screening and assessment, prevention of pneumonia, rehabilitation approaches, and nutritional management of PSD are considered research hotpots. Additionally, future research may focus on the topics of systematic review and meta-analysis, noninvasive brain stimulation, and lesion location. Conclusion: Through the bibliometrics analysis of PSD, we can capture the research hotspots and frontiers of PSD, thereby providing inspiration and reference for subsequent studies in this field.

Abstract:Background Dysphagia, a common complication after stroke, significantly hampers the recovery process of patients, both due to dysphagia itself and the additional complications it causes. Although a large number of articles have been published on post‐stroke dysphagia (PSD), bibliometric analysis in this field is still lacking. This study aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the research hotspots and trends in PSD, thereby guiding future research efforts. Methods The Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database was searched for articles related to PSD from 2003 to 2022. Data were visualised and analysed using CiteSpace and VOSviewer. Results A total of 3102 publications were included in the scientometric analysis, with a gradual increase in the number of papers published each year. The United States emerged as the country with the highest number of publications (625 articles), while the University of Manchester led with the most publications among institutions (67 articles). Notably, Dysphagia was both the most published (254 articles) and the most cited journal (11,141 citations). Among authors, Hamdy S emerged as the most prolific (52 articles), with Martino R being the most cited (1042 citations). Conclusion Based on our findings, we anticipate that research hotspots in PSD will mainly focus on complications due to PSD such as stroke‐associated pneumonia, stroke‐related sarcopenia. Additionally, exploration into the mechanisms and parameters of noninvasive brain stimulation techniques for the treatment of PSD, as well as the rehabilitation needs of patients with PSD, are expected to be key focal points in future research endeavours.

Abstract:Objective: This paper focuses on the research and discussion of the efficacy of electromyographic biofeedback combined with swallowing training on post-stroke dysphagia. Methods: This study randomly sampled and analyzed 68 patients with post-stroke dysphagia from January 2023 to December 2023, 34 cases of swallowing training intervention were grouped as the control group, and 34 cases of electromyography biofeedback combined with swallowing training intervention were grouped as the study group, and the clinical therapeutic effects of the two groups of patients after receiving the two different modes of intervention were compared. Results: The swallowing function of patients in both groups improved, and the VFSS score of patients in the seminar group was significantly higher than that of the control group, indicating that the clinical efficacy of the seminar group was more significant. The nasal feeding tube extraction rate, extraction time, and quality of life scores of the seminar group were better than those of the control group (P < 0.05), which is of research value. Conclusion: For patients with post-stroke dysphagia, treatment with electromyography biofeedback combined with swallowing training mode can significantly improve their swallowing function. This effective intervention can not only shorten the time for patients to remove the nasal feeding tube but also help to improve the quality of life of patients, which is worth using.
Research trends and hotspots of post-stroke upper limb dysfunction: a bibliometric and visualization analysis

Abstract:Background: The global prevalence of stroke has been increasing. Motor dysfunction is observed in approximately 55 to 75% of stroke patients, with upper limb impairment affecting around 85% of them. Following upper limb dysfunction, the body's recovery time is not only slower compared to the lower limbs, but the restoration of its fine motor skills is significantly more challenging, greatly impacting the daily lives of patients. Consequently, there is an increasing urgency for study on the upper limb function in stroke. Methods: A search was conducted in the Web of Science Core Collection: Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-Expanded) database for material published from January 1, 2004 to December 31, 2023. We included all relevant literature reports and conducted an analysis of annual publications, countries/regions, institutions, journals, co-cited references, and keywords using the software packages CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and Bibliometrix R. Next, we succinctly outlined the research trends and hotspots in post-stroke upper limb dysfunction. Results: This analysis comprised 1,938 articles from 1,897 institutions, 354 journals, and 53 countries or regions. A yearly rise in the production of publications was noted. The United States is the foremost nation on the issue. Northwestern University has the most amounts of papers compared to all other institutions. The journal Neurorehabilitation and Neural Repair is a highly significant publication in this field, with Catherine E. Lang serving as the principal author. The majority of the most-cited references focus on subjects such as the reliability and validity of assessment instruments, RCT of therapies, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses. The intervention measures primarily comprise three types of high-frequency phrases that are related, as determined by keyword analysis: intelligent rehabilitation, physical factor therapy, and occupational therapy. Current areas of focus in research include randomized clinical trials, neurorehabilitation, and robot-assisted therapy. Conclusion: Current research has shown a growing interest in studying upper limb function assessment, occupational therapy, physical therapy, robot-assisted therapy, virtual reality, brain-computer interface, telerehabilitation, cortical reorganisation, and neural plasticity. These topics have become popular and are expected to be the focus of future research.

Abstract:As a common consequence of various neurogenic disorders, dysphagia has a significant impact on the quality of life for patients. To promote the development the field of swallowing, it will be helpful to clarify the pathological and therapeutic mechanisms of dysphagia. Through visual analysis of related papers from 1993 to 2023 in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database, the research status and development trend of the pathogenesis of dysphagia were discussed. The co-occurrence study was finished using CiteSpace 6.2 R4 software, including keywords, countries, institutions, and authors. Finally, 1,184 studies satisfied the inclusion requirements. The findings of the visualization analysis suggested that aspiration and gastroesophageal reflux disease would be the areas of greatest interest for researchers studying the mechanism of dysphagia. As for the latest occurred research trends, fMRI, signals and machine learning emerging into the field of view of researchers. Based on an analysis of country co-occurrence, United States, Japan and China rank the top three, in terms of the number of publications on dysphagia. University System of Ohio is the organization that has published the most amount of articles regarding the mechanism of dysphagia. Other highly published schools in the top three include State University System of Florida and Northwestern University. For the prolific authors, German, Rebecca Z published the most articles at present, whose own research team working closely together. Several closely cooperating research teams have been formed at present, including the teams centered around German, Rebecca Z, Warnecke, Tobias and Hamdy Shaheen. This study intuitively analyzed the current research status of the mechanism of dysphagia, provided researchers with research hotspots in this field.

Abstract:Objectives: This study aims to review the documents on dysphagia, summarize the research direction, analyze the research hot spots and frontiers, report the research trends, and provide new ideas for future development in the field via CiteSpace. Methods: We retrieved articles on dysphagia published between 2012 and 2021 from the Web of Science Core Collection database. We downloaded the entire data and utilized CiteSpace version 5.8.R3 (64-bit) to analyze the number of publications annually, cited journals, countries, institutions, authors, cited authors, cited references, and keywords. We visualized the data with a knowledge map, collaborative network analysis, cluster analysis, and strongest citation burst analysis. Results: We obtained 14,007 papers with a continually increasing trend over time. The most productive country and institute in this field were the United States (4,308) and Northwestern University (236), respectively. Dysphagia (5,062) and Laryngoscope (2,812) were the most productive journals, Elizabeth Ward had the highest number of publications (84), and Logeman et al.'s article (centrality: 0.02) was the most referenced. The most common keywords were dysphagia, management, quality of life, deglutition disorder, diagnosis, aspiration, prevalence, children, outcome, and oropharyngeal dysphagia. Conclusion: This study analyzed the current literature on dysphagia via CiteSpace and identified its research hot spots and frontiers. The prevalent global trends in dysphagia research and the growing public awareness about healthcare and quality of life suggest that research on dysphagia will gain popularity with further breakthroughs.

Abstract:Background: As one of the most common complications of stroke, post-stroke pneumonia significantly increases the incidence of adverse outcomes, mortality, and healthcare costs for patients with stroke. As the field of post-stroke pneumonia has gained interest in the recent years, there has been an increasing number of publications on post-stroke pneumonia research worldwide. Therefore, a more comprehensive understanding of the field is needed now. This paper is intended to analyze the research status and detect the research frontiers in this field. Methods: VOS viewer, CiteSpace, and the online scientometric platform (https://bibliometric.com/) were the main visualization tools used in this paper. They were used to perform citation analysis of countries/institutions, co-citation analysis of authors/journals/references, co-authorship analysis of authors, co-occurrence analysis of keywords, and citation bursts analysis of references. Results: The number of publications in this field has increased rapidly since 2010 and is expected to continue to increase in the next few years. The countries contributing most to post-stroke pneumonia research were the USA, China, and Germany. The most productive institution was Harvard University, followed by Humboldt University of Berlin, Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin, and Free University of Berlin from Germany. Meanwhile, the German authors Meisel A, Meisel C, and Dirnagl U, who have contributed significantly to this field, were all associated with these three German institutions. The high-quality and high output journal was STROKE . In the coming years, the hot topic keywords "risk & risk-factors," "outcome & impact," "management & guidelines," and "predictors" will gain more attention in this field. Finally, hot keywords were grouped into four clusters in this paper: cluster 1 (risk-factors studies of post-stroke pneumonia), cluster 2 (clinically relevant studies of post-stroke pneumonia), cluster 3 (mechanism studies of post-stroke pneumonia), and cluster 4 (care studies of post-stroke pneumonia). Conclusion: This study shows the knowledge structure and evolution of the field of post-stroke pneumonia research and predicts research trends through visualization analysis. The future trend of post-stroke pneumonia research will gradually shift from clinical and mechanistic studies to treatment and prevention studies.

Abstract:Background: The incidence and mortality rates of stroke are escalating due to the growing aging population, which presents a significant hazard to human health. In the realm of stroke, brain-computer interface (BCI) technology has gained considerable attention as a means to enhance treatment efficacy and improve quality of life. Consequently, a bibliometric visualization analysis was performed to investigate the research hotspots and trends of BCI technology in stroke, with the objective of furnishing reference and guidance for future research. Methods: This study utilized the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-Expanded) within the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database as the data source, selecting relevant literature published between 2013 and 2022 as research sample. Through the application of VOSviewer 1.6.19 and CiteSpace 6.2.R2 visualization analysis software, as well as the bibliometric online analysis platform, the scientific knowledge maps were constructed and subjected to visualization display, and statistical analysis. Results: This study encompasses a total of 693 relevant literature, which were published by 2,556 scholars from 975 institutions across 53 countries/regions and have been collected by 185 journals. In the past decade, BCI technology in stroke research has exhibited an upward trend in both annual publications and citations. China and the United States are high productivity countries, while the University of Tubingen stands out as the most contributing institution. Birbaumer N and Pfurtscheller G are the authors with the highest publication and citation frequency in this field, respectively. Frontiers in Neuroscience has published the most literature, while Journal of Neural Engineering has the highest citation frequency. The research hotspots in this field cover keywords such as stroke, BCI, rehabilitation, motor imagery (MI), motor recovery, electroencephalogram (EEG), neurorehabilitation, neural plasticity, task analysis, functional electrical stimulation (FES), motor impairment, feature extraction, and induced movement therapy, which to a certain extent reflect the development trend and frontier research direction of this field. Conclusion: This study comprehensively and visually presents the extensive and in-depth literature resources of BCI technology in stroke research in the form of knowledge maps, which facilitates scholars to gain a more convenient understanding of the development and prospects in this field, thereby promoting further research work.
Rehabilitation of motor function after stroke: A bibliometric analysis of global research from 2004 to 2022

Abstract:Background and aims: The mortality rate of stroke has been increasing worldwide. Poststroke somatic dysfunctions are common. Motor function rehabilitation of patients with such somatic dysfunctions enhances the quality of life and has long been the primary practice to achieve functional recovery. In this regard, we aimed to delineate the new trends and frontiers in stroke motor function rehabilitation literature published from 2004 to 2022 using a bibliometric software. Methods: All documents related to stroke rehabilitation and published from 2004 to 2022 were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection. Publication output, research categories, countries/institutions, authors/cocited authors, journals/cocited journals, cocited references, and keywords were assessed using VOSviewer v.1.6.15.0 and CiteSpace version 5.8. The cocitation map was plotted according to the analysis results to intuitively observe the research hotspots. Results: Overall, 3,302 articles were retrieved from 78 countries or regions and 564 institutions. Over time, the publication outputs increased annually. In terms of national contribution, the United States published the most papers, followed by China, Japan, South Korea, and Canada. Yeungnam University had the most articles among all institutions, followed by Emory University, Fudan University, and National Taiwan University. Jang Sung Ho and Wolf S.L. were the most productive (56 published articles) and influential (cited 1,121 times) authors, respectively. "Effect of constraint-induced movement therapy on upper extremity function 3-9 months after stroke: the Extremity Constraint Induced Therapy Evaluation randomized clinical trial" was the most frequently cited reference. Analysis of keywords showed that upper limbs, Fugl-Meyer assessment, electromyography, virtual reality, telerehabilitation, exoskeleton, and brain-computer interface were the research development trends and focus areas for this topic. Conclusion: Publications regarding motor function rehabilitation following stroke are likely to continuously increase. Research on virtual reality, telemedicine, electroacupuncture, the brain-computer interface, and rehabilitation robots has attracted increasing attention, with these topics becoming the hotspots of present research and the trends of future research.

Abstract:Background: Post-stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI) is a major complication of stroke that affects more than one-third of stroke survivors, threatening their quality of life and increasing the risk of disability and death. Although various studies have described the etiology, epidemiology, and risk factors of PSCI, there are a limited number of comprehensive and accurate reports on research trends and hotspots in this field. Therefore, this review aimed to evaluate research trends, hotspots, and frontiers in PSCI using bibliometric analysis. Methods: We screened the literature spanning 20 years in the Web of Science Core Collection: Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-Expanded) database from 1 January 2003 to 31 December 2022. We included all eligible literature reports based on our comprehensive search strategy, inclusion criteria, and exclusion criteria. The analysis of annual publications, countries/regions, institutions, journals, co-cited references, and keywords was conducted using CiteSpace and VOSviewer, and the hotspots and major findings of PSCI were summarized. Results: A total of 1,024 publications were included in this review. We found that the number of publications on PSCI increased annually. These publications were published in 75 countries or regions by over 400 institutions. Although Chinese institutions had the highest number of publications, their international influence was limited. The United States showed a strong influence in the field. The journal "Stroke" published the most publications (57) with a high impact factor and was considered the most co-cited journal. The most frequently cited references focused on the prevalence, incidence, neuropsychological assessment scales, criteria, and guidelines of PSCI. The strongest citation burst keywords for PSCI were "neurotrophic factor" and "synaptic plasticity", which were regarded as research focuses and research hotspots, respectively. Conclusion: This review provided a comprehensive summary of the literature of PSCI, identified the authoritative and frequently cited literature and journals, clarified the trends in PSCI research, and highlighted the hotspots in this field. Currently, studies on the mechanisms and treatment of PSCI are limited, and we hope that this review has effectively highlighted the research trajectory of PSCI and will lay the foundation for more innovative research in the future.

Abstract:Acupuncture has been widely used in stroke and post-stroke rehabilitation (PSR), but there is no literature on the bibliometric analysis of acupuncture for stroke. This study aimed to characterize the global publications and analyze the trends of acupuncture for stroke in the past 40 years. We identified 1157 publications from the Web of Science Core Collection. The number of publications grew slowly in the first three decades from 1980 until it started to grow after 2010, with significant growth in 2011–2012 and 2019–2020. China, the USA, and South Korea are the top three countries in this field, and China has formed good internal cooperative relations. Early studies focused on the clinical efficacy of acupuncture for stroke. In the last five years, more emphasis has been placed on the effectiveness of acupuncture in treating sequelae and complications, combined with neuroimaging studies to explore the mechanisms of brain injury repair and neurological recovery. Acupuncture for stroke has a vast research potential, and researchers from different countries/regions and organizations still need to remove academic barriers to enhance communication and collaboration.

Comparative efficacy of nonpharmaceutical therapy in the treatment of dysphagia after stroke

Abstract:BACKGROUND: Dysphagia is one of the major post-stroke complications that can severely damage a patient's quality of life. An increasing number of studies have demonstrated that many kinds of nonpharmacological treatments can be used for post-stroke dysphagia. However, there is not enough evidence evaluating the effectiveness and safety of these interventions. This study will conduct a systematic review, and Bayesian network meta-analysis, of nonpharmacological treatments in order to provide evidence for a future study investigating more options for post-stroke dysphagia.METHODS: Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of adult patients aged >18 years old who meet the criteria for a diagnosis of post-stroke dysphagia will be included, regardless of gender, nationality, or education level. Four Chinese databases (CNKI, SinoMed, Wanfang Database, and the Chinese Scientific Journal Database) and four English databases (Web of Science, MEDLINE, Embase, and the Cochrane Library) will be searched. Two independent reviewers will evaluate the title summary for each RCT. Disagreements will be discussed with a third commentator. Standard pairwise meta-analysis, including heterogeneity analysis, subgroup analysis, and sensitivity analysis, will be performed using the RevMan 5.3 software, and the risk of bias assessment will be conducted based on the methodological quality of the included trials recommended by the Cochrane Handbook 5.1. The Bayesian network meta-analysis will be performed using R-3.3.2 software. The quality evaluation of this study will be completed using the World Health Organization's Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation.RESULTS: This study will summarize all the selected trials aimed at estimating the effectiveness, as well as safety, of applying nonpharmacological treatments to post-stroke dysphagia.CONCLUSION: This systematic review will provide evidence to assess the validity and safety of applying different types of nonpharmacological treatments for post-stroke dysphagia, which may provide clinicians with more choices in the treatment of this disease.PROSPERO REGISTRATION NUMBER: CRD42019119368.

Global trends and hotspots in research on osteoporosis rehabilitation: A bibliometric study and visualization analysis

Abstract:Background: The field of rehabilitation medicine plays an essential role in the comprehensive management of osteoporosis and its consequences. The benefits of therapeutic exercise are increasingly being recognized in this area, which receives an increasing number of publications. this study was designed to comprehensively identify collaborative networks, parse and track research trends, spotlight present hotspots, and accurately predict frontiers and focus on the health topics related to osteoporosis rehabilitation. Methods: This research adopted computer retrieval of osteoporosis rehabilitation-related research published in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) from inception to June 14, 2022. The bibliometric visualization and comparative analysis involving countries, institutions, journals, authors, references, and keywords were performed using the CiteSpace and VOSviewer software. Results: A total of 3,268 articles were included, and the number of articles published each year has demonstrated a steady increase. The United States and the University of Melbourne were the highest productive country and institution, with 1,325 and 87 articles, respectively. The journal of osteoporosis international has published the greatest number of articles, with 221 publications, and the journal of bone and mineral research ranked first in the co-citation counts (cited by 11,792 times). The most productive and highly-cited authors were Heinonen A and Cummings S, with 35 publications and 680 citations. Conclusions: At present, "physical activity," "weight bearing exercise," "muscle strength," "whole body vibration," "postmenopausal women," "older women," children, men are the noteworthy research hot topics. Future research that focus on the major modes and parameters of physical activity/exercise for osteoporosis (including whole body vibration, weight bearing exercises, resistance training), targeted multicomponent training regimens, rehabilitation therapy for postmenopausal women, older women, children and men, osteoporosis related-sarcopenia and fractures, and mesenchymal stem cells are becoming frontiers and focus on the health topics related to osteoporosis rehabilitation in the upcoming years, which are worthy of further exploration.

Abstract:Background: Stroke is a cerebrovascular disease with high prevalence and mortality, and upper limb hemiparesis is a major factor limiting functional recovery in stroke patients. Improvement of motor function in stroke patients through various forms of constraint-induced movement therapy (CITM) has been recognized as safe and effective in recent years. This research field lacks a comprehensive systematic and clear vein combing analysis, analyzing the literature research of CIMT in the field of rehabilitation in the past three decades, summarizing the research hotspots and cutting-edge trends in this field, in an effort to offer ideas and references for subsequent researchers. Methods: Relevant literature on CIMT in rehabilitation was collected from 1996 to 2024 within the Web of Science database's core dataset by using CiteSpace6.1, VOSviewer1.6.18, R-bibliometrix4.6.1, Pajek5.16, Scimago Graphica 1.0.26 software for visualization and analysis. Results: There were 970 papers in all United States was ranked first with 401 papers. Alabama Univ was ranked first for institutions with 53 papers. Neurorehabilitation and Neural Repair was ranked first for journals with 78 papers, and Taub E was ranked first for author publications with 64 papers. Research keywords were CIMT, stroke rehabilitation, upper extremity function, lower extremity gait balance, randomized controlled trials, physical therapy techniques (transcranial magnetic stimulation and sensory amplitude electrical stimulation), primary motor cortex plasticity, lateral dominance (spatial behaviors), cerebral vascular accidents, activities of daily living, hand function, disability, functional restoration, bimanual training, aphasia, acquired invalidity, type A Botulinum toxin and joystick riding toys. Conclusion: The current state of research shows that CIMT still has a vast potential for development in the field of rehabilitation research. The research hotspots are the clinical efficacy of CIMT combined with other therapies (botulinum toxin type A, transcranial direct current stimulation, virtual reality, mirror therapy, robotic-assisted) to enhance the functionality of upper limb hemiparesis in stroke patients, the mechanism of CIMT to improve the plasticity of the motor cortex through electrophysiological and imaging methods, and improvement of lower limb gait balance function in stroke patients and aphasia applications, the optimal intervention time and dose, and exploration of CIMT in new settings such as robot-assisted, telemedicine, and home rehabilitation.

Abstract:Background: Head and neck cancer acts as the sixth most common malignant tumor worldwide with an increasing incidence. The needs and methods of its rehabilitation are diverse and constantly evolving. Objective: This study aims to provide an in-depth depiction and visualization of the knowledge structure, hotspots, and emerging trends within the domain in the past 30 years through utilizing bibliometric analysis. Methods: The literature about rehabilitation for head and neck cancer in Web of Science was collected. CiteSpace and VOSviewer were used to analyze main countries, institutions, authors, journals, subject hotspots, trends, frontiers, etc. Results: A total of 1869 papers have been published since 1994. These publications were written by 874 authors from 514 institutions in 74 countries. The United States published 397 papers in this field and ranked first. Head & Neck is the most widely published journal, with Finizia, Caterina as the core author. The main keyword clustering includes terms such as #0 mandibular reconstruction (2009); #1 functional impairment (2014); #2 device lifetime (2006); #3 head and neck cancer (2003); #4 maxillofacial prosthetics (2004); #5 squamous cell carcinoma (2002); #6 readiness for return to work (2009); #7 total laryngopharyngectomy (2004). The current research frontier that has been sustained is "survivors", "reliability", and "meta analysis". Conclusion: We reveal the current status, hotspots, and trends in the field of rehabilitation for head and neck cancer. And we provided new academic insights into the characteristics and limitations of the field's development.

Abstract:Background: A comprehensive analysis was conducted on the relevant literature pertaining to the application of traditional Chinese exercises in stroke rehabilitation over the past 20 years. Additionally, a scientific knowledge map was created to elucidate the current research status, investigate its development process and research trends, and offer novel research perspectives for future studies. Methods: The data is sourced from the WOS Core Collection, and CiteSpace software is used to analyze the relevant literature on traditional Chinese exercises in stroke rehabilitation. The analysis began with the selection of publications, countries, institutions, highly cited authors, and co-cited references to summarize the current research status of traditional exercises in stroke rehabilitation. Second, keywords were employed to identify research hotspots, and keyword clustering time zone diagrams were chosen to track the research development process. Finally, burst keywords were employed to explore the research frontiers and trends in this field. Results: In total, 937 documents were retrieved, and the annual publication volume consistently and sustainably increased. China and the USA emerged as significant contributors. The Chinese University of Hong Kong had the highest publication count, with ADA L from the University of Sydney being a highly cited author. Initially, keywords focused on cardiac output, blood flow, pressure, and performance. Over time, the focus shifted to heart failure, muscle strength, mortality, and exercise capacity. Current trends encompass outcome, impact, virtual reality, and anxiety. Conclusion: Integrating key elements of traditional exercise approaches with the specific attributes of movement disorders during the stroke recovery phase is essential. Therefore, enhancing the stroke rehabilitation training program and exploring novel avenues for traditional exercise-based interventions are critical.

Abstract:Increasingly, non-pharmacological interventions are being identified and applied to post-stroke dysphagia. Nevertheless, there is insufficient evidence to assess which type of interventions are more effective. In this study, the randomized controlled trials of non-pharmacological interventions on post-stroke dysphagia were retrieved from the relevant databases. Including 96 studies and 12 non-drug treatments. Then, and the network meta-analysis is carried out by statistical software. The results show: In the aspects of videofluoroscopic swallowing study (VFSS), Standardized Swallowing Assessment (SSA), swallowing-quality of life (SWAL-QOL), Water swallow test (WST); Acupuncture + electrotherapy + rehabilitation training, acupuncture + rehabilitation training + massage, electrotherapy + rehabilitation training, acupuncture + electrotherapy + rehabilitation training, electrotherapy, acupuncture + rehabilitation training + acupoints sticking application have significant effects in post-stroke dysphagia. Compared with other interventions, they have more advantages in improving the above indicators. A substantial number of high-quality randomized clinical trials are still necessary in the prospective to validate the therapeutic effectiveness of non-pharmacological interventions in post-stroke dysphagia and the results of this Bayesian network meta-analysis.
Research Hotspots and Frontiers of Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation in Stroke: A Bibliometric Analysis

Abstract:Background: Over the past decade, many studies in the field of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) in stroke have been published in scholarly journals. However, a scientometric analysis focusing on tDCS after stroke is still missing. The purpose of this study is to deliver a bibliometric analysis to investigate the global hotspots and frontiers in the domain of tDCS in stroke from 2012 to 2021. Methods: Articles and reviews related to tDCS in stroke were retrieved and obtained from the Web of Science core collection database from 2012 to 2021. Data visualization and analysis were conducted by using CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and Microsoft Excel 2019. Results: Finally, 371 publications were included in the scientometric analysis, including 288 articles and 83 reviews. The results showed that the number of publications per year increased from 15 to 68 in the last 10 years. Neurosciences was the main research hotspot category (n = 201). Frontiers in Human Neuroscience was the most published journal with 14 papers. The most productive author, institution, and country were Fregni F (n = 13), the League of European Research Universities (n = 37), and the United States of America (n = 98), respectively. A burstness analysis of keywords and the literature indicated that current studies in the field of tDCS in stroke focused on poststroke aphasia, tDCS combined with robotic therapy, and anatomical parameters. Conclusion: The research of tDCS in stroke is predicted to remain a research hotspot in the future. We recommend investigating the curative effect of other different tDCS closed-loop rehabilitation methods for different stroke dysfunctions. In conclusion, this bibliometric study presented the hotspots and trends of tDCS in stroke over the last decade, which may help researchers manage their further studies.
