Abstract:Fiber cones of 0-dimensional ideals with almost minimal multiplicity in Cohen-Macaulay local rings are studied. Ratliff-Rush closure of filtration of ideals with respect to another ideal is introduced. This is used to find a bound on the reduction number with respect to an ideal. Rossi's bound on reduction number in terms of Hilbert coefficients is obtained as a consequence. Sufficient conditions are provided for the fiber cone of 0-dimensional ideals to have almost maximal depth. Hilbert series of such fiber cones are also computed.

Abstract:This is the first of a series of papers where we relate tangent cones ofHermitian-Yang-Mills connections at an isolated singularity to the complexalgebraic geometry of the underlying reflexive sheaf, when the sheaf is locallymodelled on the pull-back of a holomorphic vector bundle from the projectivespace. In this paper we shall impose an extra assumption that the graded sheafdetermined by the Harder-Narasimhan-Seshadri filtrations of the vector bundleis reflexive. In general we conjecture that the tangent cone is uniquelydetermined by the double dual of the associated graded object of aHarder-Narasimhan-Seshadri filtration of an algebraic tangent cone, which is acertain torsion-free sheaf on the projective space. In this paper we also provethis conjecture when there is an algebraic tangent cone which is locally freeand stable.

Abstract:Let $(A, \mathfrak{m})$ be a Noetherian local ring and $\mathfrak{F}=(I_{n})_{n\geq 0}$ a filtration. In this paper, we study the Gorenstein properties of the fiber cone $F(\mathfrak{F})$, where $\mathfrak{F}$ is a Hilbert filtration. Suppose that $F(\mathfrak{F})$ and $G(\mathfrak{F})$ are Cohen-Macaulay. If in addition, the associated graded ring $G(\mathfrak{F})$ is Gorenstein; similarly to the $I$-adic case, we obtain a necessary and sufficient condition, in terms of lengths and minimal number of generators of ideals, for Gorensteiness of the fiber cone. Moreover, we find a description of the canonical module of $F(\mathfrak{F})$ and show that even in the Hilbert filtration case, the multiplicity of the canonical module of the fiber cone is upper bounded by multiplicity of the canonical modules of the associated graded ring.

Abstract:In this paper we show that there is a close relationship between the invariants characterizing the homogeneous vanishing of the local cohomology of the Rees algebra and the associated graded ring for the good filtrations case. We obtain relationships between the Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of the fiber cone, associated graded ring, Rees algebra and reduction number for the good filtrations case.

Abstract:In this paper we study the analytic tangent cones of admissible Hermitian-Yang-Mills connections near a homogeneous singularity of a reflexive sheaf, and relate it to the Harder-Narasimhan-Seshadri filtration. We also give an algebro-geometric characterization of the bubbling set. This strengthens our previous result.

Abstract:In this paper, we show that the fiber cones of rational normal scrolls are Cohen–Macaulay. As an application, we compute their Castelnuovo–Mumford regularities and $$\varvec{a}$$ -invariants, as well as the reduction number of the defining ideals of the rational normal scrolls. We also characterize the Gorensteinness of the fiber cone.

Abstract:We prove that the multiplicity of a filtration of a local ring satisfies various convexity properties. In particular, we show the multiplicity is convex along geodesics. As a consequence, we prove that the volume of a valuation is log convex on simplices of quasi-monomial valuations and give a new proof of a theorem of Xu and Zhuang on the uniqueness of normalized volume minimizers. In another direction, we generalize a theorem of Rees on multiplicities of ideals to filtrations and characterize when the Minkowski inequality for filtrations is an equality under mild assumptions.

Abstract:A new type of Hopf invariant is described for the fiber of the pinch map from the mapping cone of a map from A to X onto to the suspension of A; this is then used to study the boundary map in the fibration sequence of Cohen, Moore and Neisendorfer in the case that the mapping cone is an odd dimensional Moore space. The components of the boundary map are then shown to be compatible with Hopf invariants and a filtered splitting of the loops on the fiber is obtained.

Abstract:Let $(A,\mathfrak m)$ be a Noetherian local ring of dimension $d>0$ with infinite residue field and $I$ an $\mathfrak{m}$-primary ideal. Let $\mathcal I$ be an $I$-good filtration. We study an equality of Hilbert coefficients, first given by Elias and Valla, versus passage of Buchsbaum property from the local ring to the blow-up algebras. Suppose $e_1(\mathcal I)-e_1(Q)=2e_0(\mathcal I)-2\ell(A/I_1)-\ell(I_1/(I_2+Q))$ where $Q\subseteq I$, a minimal reduction of $\mathcal I$, is a standard parameter ideal. Under some mild conditions, we prove that if $A$ is Buchsbaum (generalized Cohen-Macaulay respectively), then the associated graded ring $G(\mathcal I)$ is Buchsbaum (generalized Cohen-Macaulay respectively). Our results settle a question of Corso in general for an $I$-good filtration. Further, let $f_0(I)= e_1(I)-e_0(I)-e_1(Q)+\ell(A/I)+\mu(I)-d+1$ and $e_1(I)-e_1(Q)=2e_0(I)-2\ell(A/I)-\ell(I/(I^2+Q))$. We prove, under mild conditions, that (1) if $A$ is generalized Cohen-Macaulay, then the special fiber ring $F_{\mathfrak{m}}(I)$ is generalized Cohen-Macaulay; In addition, if depth of $A$ is positive, then depth of $F_{\mathfrak {m}}(I)$ is same as depth of $A$ and (2) if $A$ is Buchsbaum and depth A$\geq d-1$, then $F_{\mathfrak{m}}(I)$ is Buchsbaum and the $I$-invariant of $F_{\mathfrak{m}}(I)$ is same as that of $A$.

Abstract:We construct a filtered mapping cone formula that computes the knot Floer complex of the $(n,1)$--cable of the knot meridian in any rational surgery, generalizing Truong's result about the $(n,1)$--cable of the knot meridian in large surgery and Hedden-Levine's filtered mapping cone formula. As an application, we show that there exist knots in integer homology spheres with arbitrary $\varphi_{i,j}$ values for any $i>j\geq 0$, where $\varphi_{i,j}$ are the concordance homomorphisms defined by Dai-Hom-Stoffregen-Truong.

Abstract:We extend the asymptotic Samuel function of an ideal to a filtration and show that many of the good properties of this function for an ideal are true for filtrations. There are, however, interesting differences, which we explore. We study the notion of projective equivalence of filtrations and the relation between the asymptotic Samuel function and the multiplicity of a filtration. We further consider the case of discrete valued filtrations and show that they have particularly nice properties.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a Deligne-Mumford stack locally of finite type over an algebraically closed field $k$ of characteristic zero. We show that the intrinsic normal cone $C_X$ of $X$ is supported in the subcone $\mathbb{V}(\Omega_X[-1])$ ($h^1/h^0((\Omega^1_X)^\vee)$) of its intrinsic normal sheaf $N_X$. This leads to an alternative proof of cone reduction by cosections for $C_X$. We also discuss vanishing of simple obstructions under the Buchweitz-Flenner semiregularity map for sheaves.

Restrictions of mixed Hodge modules using generalized V-filtrations

Abstract:We study generalized $V$-filtrations, defined by Sabbah, on $\mathcal D$-modules underlying mixed Hodge modules on $X\times \mathbf A^r$. Using cyclic covers, we compare these filtrations to the usual $V$-filtration, which is better understood. The main result shows that these filtrations can be used to compute $\sigma^!$, where $\sigma \colon X \times \{0\} \to X \times \mathbf A^r$ is the inclusion of the zero section. As an application, we use the restriction result to study singularities of complete intersection subvarieties. These filtrations can be used to study the local cohomology mixed Hodge module. In particular, we classify when weighted homogeneous isolated complete intersection singularities in $\mathbf A^n$ are $k$-Du Bois and $k$-rational.

Filtrations on quantum cohomology via Morse-Bott-Floer Spectral Sequences

Abstract:Using Morse-Bott-Floer spectral sequences, we describe a filtration by ideals on quantum cohomology for symplectic manifolds with a Hamiltonian $S^1$-action that extends to a pseudoholomorphic $\mathbb{C}^*$-action. These spaces include all Conical Symplectic Resolutions, in particular all Quiver Varieties. Our Morse-Bott-Floer spectral sequences give explicit descriptions of birth-death phenomena of the barcode of the persistence module associated to the $\mathbb{C}^*$-action, defined in our earlier paper. This paper contains the foundational work to rigorously construct a filtration on Floer complexes, announced in that earlier paper. We also include a substantial appendix on Morse-Bott-Floer theory, where a large part of the technical difficulties of the paper are dealt with. We compute a plethora of explicit examples, each highlighting various features, for Springer resolutions, ADE resolutions, and several Slodowy varieties of type A. We also consider certain Higgs moduli spaces, for which we compare our filtration with the well-known P=W filtration.
