Abstract:Dysbiosis of gut microbiota and its derived metabolites has been linked to the occurrence and development of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. Our previous study has demonstrated that mung bean coat (MBC) might be mainly responsible for the beneficial effects of whole mung bean on high fat diet (HFD)-induced metabolic disorders. To investigate whether MBC, which is rich in dietary fiber and phytochemicals, can protect against HFD-induced hepatic steatosis in mice via targeting gut microbiota and its metabolites, we conducted this study. Results showed that MBC could effectively alleviative the obese phenotype, reduce the lipid accumulation and insulin resistance, and improve the hepatic oxidative stress and inflammatory response. Furthermore, MBC significantly prevented the HFD-induced changes in the structure and composition of gut microbiota, characterized by promoting the bloom of Akkermansia, Lachnospiraceae_NK4A136_group, and norank_f_Muribaculaceae, and along with the elevated short-chain fatty acids concentrations. Non-targeted metabolomic analysis indicated a metabolism disorder that was obviously improved by MBC via regulating sphingolipid metabolism and α-linolenic acid metabolism. These findings suggested that MBC could improve hepatic steatosis through manipulating the crosstalk between gut microbiota and its metabolites.
Protective Effects of Mung Bean (vigna Radiata L.) and Pea (pisum Sativum L.) Against High-Fat-induced Oxidative Stress

Abstract:Hyperlipidemia is closely related to oxidative stress, and it has been proved that the intake of legumes can protect the body from chronic diseases related to oxidative stress. In this study, we investigated the protective effects of mung beans and peas against high-fat-diet-induced rats. It was found that, with 50% addition of mung beans or peas, the intake of mung beans and peas could significantly restore the levels of serum total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Liver staining also showed that high-fat diet (HFD) led to liver lesions, whereas whole-grain intake could significantly relieve these symptoms. Compared with the HFD group, the antioxidant defense system and antioxidant gene expression in administered legume groups improved markedly. Furthermore, the antioxidant activities of the two legume extracts were determined. Characterization showed that the ethanol extracts of mung beans and peas possessed high antioxidant activities, for their ability to scavenge ABTS and DPPH, reduce Fe3+ and their antilipid peroxidation capacity. Treatments with ethanol extracts at different doses could restore the levels of intracellular lipid, malondialdehyde, and antioxidant enzyme activities in oleic acid-induced HepG2 cells. All these results suggested that mung beans and peas or their extracts may be utilized as good candidates of natural antioxidant agents.
Consumption of Mung Bean (vigna Radiata L.) Attenuates Obesity, Ameliorates Lipid Metabolic Disorders and Modifies the Gut Microbiota Composition in Mice Fed a High-Fat Diet

Abstract:Mung bean is shown having several health benefits, but a little bit of knowledge is known about its effects on high-fat diet (HFD)-induced obesity or its relationship with gut microbiota composition changes. Here, it was observed that consumption of HFD supplemented with cooked mung bean (30%, w/w) for 12 weeks effectively alleviated body weight gain and lipid metabolic disorders, which was accompanied by a decrease in hepatic steatosis and adipocyte size. Furthermore, high-throughput sequencing of 16S rRNA revealed that mung bean supplementation prevented the HFD-induced gut microbiota dysbiosis, which was likely associated with the decreased relative abundance of several HFD-dependent taxa (Ruminiclostridium_9, Mucispirillum, Bilophila, Blautia, Ruminiclostridium, and Odoribacter), and the increased relative abundance of norank_f_Muribaculaceae. Spearman's correlation analysis indicated that those genera were closely correlated with obesity-related indices. Collectively, the prevention of obesity by mung bean supplementation was at least partially mediated by structural modulation of gut microbiota.

Abstract:The aim of this study was to investigate the functional mechanism of Wuniuzao dark tea polysaccharide (WDTP) that protect against hyperlipidemia in mice induced by high-fat diet. WDTP was extracted by hot water, isolated and purified by DEAE-52 chromatography and characterized by high-performance liquid chromatograph (HPLC), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). Different doses (200 or 800 mg/kg/day) of WDTP were orally administered to mice induced by high-fat diet to evaluate the mechanism of WDTP regulating lipid metabolism. And these results showed that average molecular weight of WDTP was nearly 63,869 Da. And WDTP intervention significantly reduced body weight, lipid accumulation, and modulated blood lipid levels. The mechanism of WDTP ameliorating lipid metabolism was associated with regulating the expression of lipid metabolism-related genes and serum exosomes miR-19b-3p, and modulating the community structure of gut microbiota in mice.
Anti-Obesity and Hypolipidemic Effects of A Functional Formula Containing Prumus Mume in Mice Fed High-Fat Diet

Abstract:The present study is designed to investigate the effect of an anti-obesity functional formula (PMC) composed of Prumus mume stem barks extract (PMSBE) and L-carnitine (2: 1, w/w) on obesity and hyperlipidemia induced by high-fat diet in mice. Male ICR mice were fed a high-fat diet (HFD) with or without PMC (PMC-1 group: 450 mg/kg/day; PMC-2 group: 900 mg/kg/day) for 6 weeks to examine adipose tissue weight, serum lipid profile, and the pathological changes in liver tissue. The results showed that body weight gain was significantly lowered in PMC groups compared with the HFD group. PMC could improve lipid profile by lowering serum total cholesterol (Total-C), triacylglycerol (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) concentrations, and increasing high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) concentration as compared with the HFD group. PMC also improved the pathological changes in liver tissue, decreased the relative weights of epididymal and perirenal WAT. Our findings suggest that PMC has significantly anti-obesity and hypolipidemic effects.
Dietary supplementation with mung bean coat alleviates the disorders in serum glucose and lipid profile and modulates gut microbiota in high-fat diet and streptozotocin-induced prediabetic mice

Abstract:As amajor by-product of mung bean processing, mung bean coat (MBC), which is rich in polyphenols and dietary fiber, is deemed to be mainly responsible for the health benefits of mung bean. However, its beneficial effects on the hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia, and gut microbiota composition in prediabetic mice is not fully understood. The objective of this study was to investigate the efficacy of MBC in alleviating high-fat diet and streptozotocin-induced prediabetes. Herein, compared with the model control, dietary supplementation with MBC (3%, w/w) for 12 weeks significantly decreased the fasting blood glucose (24.60%), total cholesterol (15.72%), triglyceride (14.41%), and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (22.45%). Furthermore, the improvements in glucose tolerance were reflected in the reduction of the area under the curve (AUC) and incremental AUC by approximately 23.08% and 51.18%, respectively. 16S rRNA gene sequencing of fecal microbiota suggested that MBC promoted the enrichment of beneficial bacteria (Roseburia and Bifidobacterium) and the production of short-chain fatty acids. All of the results from this study provided a scientific reference for avoiding the functional ingredients waste of MBC and expanding its application value.
Improvement in Mung Bean Peptide on High-Fat Diet-Induced Insulin Resistance Mice Using Untargeted Serum Metabolomics

Abstract:This study aimed to elucidate the potential regulatory mechanism of mung bean peptides (MBPs) on glucolipid metabolism in insulin-resistant mice induced by high-fat diet (HFD) using untargeted serum metabolomics, enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), intraperitoneal injection glucose tolerance test (IPGTT), insulin tolerance test (IPITT), and hematoxylin-eosin staining (H&E). The regulatory effect of MBPs for alleviating insulin resistance was studied by measuring body weight, fasting blood glucose (FBG) and serum insulin levels, C-Peptide levels, inflammatory and antioxidant factors, and histopathological observation of C57BL/6 mice. The experimental results showed that dietary intervention with MBPs (245 mg/kg/d) for 5 weeks significantly relieved insulin resistance in HFD mice. The body weight, insulin resistance index, and the levels of FBG, C-Peptide, IL-6, TNF-α, and MDA in the serum of HFD mice significantly decreased ( P < 0.05). Conversely, SOD content and pancreatic β cell function index significantly increased ( P < 0.05), and the damaged pancreatic tissue was repaired. One biomarker associated with insulin resistance was glycine. In addition, there were four important differential metabolites: pyroglutamate, D-glutamine, aminoadipic acid, and nicotinamide, involved in 12 metabolic pathway changes. It was found that MBPs may regulate amino acid, glycerol phospholipid, fatty acid, alkaloid, and nicotinamide metabolism to regulate the metabolic profile of HFD mice in a beneficial direction.

Abstract:Introduction: Hyperlipidemia is a common metabolic disorder with presence of excess fat or lipids in the blood, may induce liver injury, oxidative stress and inflammatory. Xuezhiping capsule (XZP) is a famous Chinese patent medicine clinically used for anti-hyperlipidemia. However, the regulation mechanism of XZP on hyperlipidemia has not been elucidated so far. Methods: This study aimed to explore the effects of XZP on hypolipidemic, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, and the potential mechanism by a combination of untargeted metabolomics and 16S rRNA sequencing. Results: The results indicated that XZP reduced the level of total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), increased the level of high density liptein cholesterol (HDL-C), alleviated excessive accumulation of lipid droplets in liver. Biochemical indexes of liver function including gamma glutamyl transferase (GGT) and glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (GOT) in liver were remarkably decreased. Meanwhile, XZP increased the level of oxidative stress biochemical indexes including superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione (GSH). In addition, XZP increased the level of peroxisome proliferators-activated receptors α (PPARα), acetyl CoA carboxylase 1 (ACOX1) and cholesterol 7-alpha hydroxylase (CYP7A1) in liver, and improved lipid metabolism in serum, liver and fecal lipid metabolism. XZP increased diversity index and the ratio of Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes, regulated seventeen genera, and illustrated strong correlations with liver lipid metabolism and phenotypic indicators. Discussion: These findings suggest that XZP reduced blood lipid and liver lipid, protected liver function, anti inflammation and anti-oxidation, ameliorate lipid metabolic disorders by modulating alpha linolenic acid and linoleic acid metabolism, bile acid metabolism, arachidonic acid metabolism, and regulated gut microbiota composition of high-fat diet (HFD) hamsters.

Integrated Transcriptomics and Metabolomics Reveal the Mechanism of Alliin in Improving Hyperlipidemia

Abstract:This research aims to assess the anti-hyperlipidemia effects of alliin in vivo and its potential mechanisms through transcriptomics and metabolomics analysis. A hyperlipidemia mode was established in C57BL/6 mice fed a high-fat diet, and the related physiological parameters of the animals were recorded. Serum TC and MDA in livers significantly decreased by 12.34% and 29.59%, respectively, and SOD and CAT in livers significantly increased by 40.64% and 39.05%, respectively, after high doses of alliin interventions. In total, 148 significantly different genes, particularly Cel, Sqle, Myc, and Ugt1a2, were revealed for their potential roles in HFD-induced alliin, mainly through steroid biosynthesis, triglyceride metabolism, drug metabolism-cytochrome P450, and the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway, according to transcriptomics analysis. Metabolomics results revealed 18 significantly different metabolites between the alliin group and HFD group, which were classified as carboxylic acids, such as N-undecanoylglycine, adipic acid, D-pantothenic acid, cyprodenate, and pivagabine. We found pantothenic acid played a vital role and was effective through pantothenic acid and CoA biosynthesis metabolism. The "steroid biosynthesis pathway" was identified as the most significant metabolic pathway by integrated transcriptomics and metabolomics analysis. This work offered a theoretical framework for the mechanism of alliin lipid lowering in the future. The development and utilization of alliin will be a viable strategy to improve the health status of people with hyperlipidemia, suggesting prospective market opportunities.
Effects of the Extract from Peanut Meal Fermented with Bacillus Natto and Monascus on Lipid Metabolism and Intestinal Barrier Function of Hyperlipidemic Mice.

Abstract:BACKGROUND Hyperlipidemia is one of the metabolic disorders posing great threat to human health. This study is aimed to investigate the potential hypolipidemic properties of extract from peanut meal fermented with Bacillus natto and Monascus in mice fed with high-fat diet (HFD). Herein, sixty male C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into 6 groups: Control groups: normal group (N), model group (M), positive control group (atorvastatin 10 mg kg ^-1, Ato), nonfermented peanut meal extract group (NF, 150 mg kg ^-1). Experimental groups: fermented peanut meal extract low-dose group (FL, 50 mg kg ^-1), fermented peanut meal extract high-dose group (FH, 150 mg kg ^-1). RESULTS Body weight (P=0.001), levels of serum total cholesterol (TC) (P=0.007), triacylglycerol (TG) (P=0.040), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) (P<0.001) and leptin (P<0.001) were remarkably decreased in FH group, while the serum high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels were increased (P<0.001) by 78.3% comparing with M group. The ileum tissue with HE staining showed that the ileal villus detachments in mice were improved, the villus height was increased by supplementation with extract from fermented peanut meal. Moreover, the expressions of intestinal ZO-1 (P=0.003) and Occludin (P=0.013) were elevated in FH group, compared to M group. CONCLUSION The extract of peanut meal fermented by Bacillus natto and Monascus can effectively improve hyperlipidemia caused by HFD in mice via regulating leptin and blood lipid levels, and protecting intestinal mucosal barrier, which can provide evidence for its anti-hyperlipidemia effects and research basis for potential industrial development. Abstract:This study aimed to investigate the protective mechanism of common buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum Moench.) against nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) associated with dyslipidemia in mice that were fed a high-fat and high-cholesterol diet (HFD). Results showed that oral supplementation of common buckwheat significantly improved physiological indexes and biochemical parameters related to dyslipidemia and NAFLD in mice fed with HFD. Furthermore, the HFD-induced reductions in fecal short-chain fatty acids were reversed by common buckwheat intervention, which also increased the fecal bile acid (BA) abundance compared with HFD-induced hyperlipidemic mice. Liver metabolomics based on ultraperformance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry demonstrated that common buckwheat supplementation made significant regulatory effects on the pentose phosphate pathway, starch and sucrose metabolism, primary BA biosynthesis, and so forth. The results of high-throughput sequencing revealed that common buckwheat supplementation significantly altered the structure of the intestinal microbiota in mice fed with HFD. The correlations between lipid metabolic parameters and intestinal microbial phylotypes were also revealed by the heatmap and network. Additionally, common buckwheat intervention regulated the mRNA expressions of genes responsible for liver lipid metabolism and BA homeostasis, thus promoting BA synthesis and excretion. These findings confirmed that common buckwheat has the outstanding ability of improving lipid metabolism and could be used as a potential functional food for the prevention of NAFLD and hyperlipidemia.
Mung bean seed coat extract modulates gut microbiota and inflammatory markers in high-fat fed rats

Abstract:Gut microbiota dysbiosis is associated with inflammation and many chronic diseases. The present study investigated the efficacy of mung bean seed coat extract (MSE) on gut microbiome modulation and the attenuation of inflammatory markers in high-fat diet (HFD)-fed rats. The high-throughput sequencing of the 16S rRNA showed the low dose (0.3%) of MSE improved HFD-induced gut microbiota dysbiosis and enhanced the gut microbiota richness. The low dose of MSE showed a significant increase in the abundance of beneficial bacteria, particularly Blautia and Lactobacillus, and decreased abundance of potentially pathogenic bacteria (Escherichia-Shigella). The low dose of MSE also significantly decreased IL-1β mRNA expression and tended to lower IL-6, TNF-α, and LPS levels. In conclusion, this study suggested that the MSE could modulate gut microbiota and reduce inflammatory responses in HFD-fed rats and this indicated the potential health properties of mung bean seed coat. This research provides informative support for the application of mung bean seed coat as functional ingredients. Anti-hyperlipidemic effect of rice bran polysaccharide and its potential mechanism in high-fat diet mice.

Abstract:Hyperlipidemia occurs very often in modern society along with a high calorie intake and is regarded as one of the greatest risk factors for the prevalence of cardiac vascular disease (CVD). In this study, we investigated the anti-hyperlipidemic effect of the rice bran polysaccharides (RBP) and its mechanism in a high fat diet animal model. 60 ICR mice were randomly divided into 3 groups, which included Control, HFD (high fat diet) and HFD + RBP, and each group included 20 mice. The control group was fed with a standard diet while the other two groups were fed with HFD. In addition, the HFD + RBP group was fed with 500 mg kg-1 of rice bran polysaccharides by intragastric administration while the other two groups were intragastrically administered with water. The results showed that RBP treatment for 10 weeks obviously decreased the body weight, liver weight and adipose tissues of mice; and it decreased the levels of total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG) and low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-c) in the plasma. H&E staining of the liver tissues showed that RBP treatment decreased the size of fat droplets compared with the HFD group. Microarray analysis revealed that RBP treatment results in 80 genes being up-regulated while 72 genes were down-regulated in the tissues of liver. IPA software analysis suggested that NF-κB may play a vital role in the lipid-lowering effect of RBP. Real-time quantitative PCR confirmed that the mRNA levels of PPAR-α, PPAR-γ, PPAR-δ, SREBP-1C, FASN, ACC, SIRT and CD36, which are related to lipid metabolism, were significantly regulated by RBP supplementation compared to HFD. The western blot analysis further confirmed these altered expressions after RBP treatment. Taken together, these results suggest that the oral administration of RBP exerts lipid-lowering in high fat diet mice via regulating the lipid metabolism-related gene expression.

Abstract:Hyperlipidemia is manifested by abnormal levels of circulating lipids and may lead to various cardiovascular diseases. Studies have demonstrated that turmeric supplemented in food can effectively prevent hyperlipidemia. The aim of this study is to elucidate the underlying mechanism. 27 male C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into three groups, which were fed with a standard diet, a high-fat diet and a high-fat diet supplemented with turmeric powder (2.0% w/w), respectively. After eight weeks of feeding, turmeric intervention significantly reduced the plasma TC, TG, and LDL-C levels and the LDL-C/HDL-C ratio of mice compared with high-fat diet fed mice. TMT-based proteomic analysis showed that the expression of 24 proteins in mouse plasma and 76 proteins in mouse liver was significantly altered by turmeric, respectively. Bioinformatics analysis showed that differential proteins in the plasma were mainly involved in complement and coagulation cascades and the cholesterol metabolism pathway. The differential proteins in the liver were mainly involved in arachidonic acid metabolism, steroid hormone biosynthesis and the PPAR signaling pathway. Key differential proteins were successfully validated by western blot analysis. This study is the first to reveal the preventive mechanism of turmeric on hyperlipidemia from proteomics. The results showed that dietary turmeric could prevent hyperlipidemia through regulating the expression of proteins in metabolism pathways.
MDG-1, a Potential Regulator of PPARα and PPARγ, Ameliorates Dyslipidemia in Mice

Abstract:Hyperlipidemia is a serious epidemic disease caused by lipid metabolism disorder, which is harmful to human health. MDG-1, a β-d-fructan polysaccharide extracted from Ophiopogon japonicus, has been shown to improve abnormal blood lipid levels and alleviate diabetes. However, the underlying mechanism on hyperlipidemia is largely unknown. In this study, male C57BL/6 mice were randomly separated into three groups, respectively: low-fat diet (Con), high-fat diet (HFD), and high-fat diet plus 5‰ MDG-1 (HFD + MDG-1). Body weight was measured and the serum lipid levels were analyzed. Using gene microarray, various core pathways, together with levels of gene expression within hepatocytes, were analyzed. RT-PCR was used to confirm the identity of the differentially expressed genes. MDG-1 could prevent obesity in HFD-induced mice and improve abnormal serum lipids. Besides, MDG-1 could regulate hyperlipidemia symptoms, specifically, and decrease fasting blood glucose, improve glucose tolerance, and ameliorate insulin resistance. According to results from gene microarray, most of the identified pathways were involved in the digestion and absorption of fat, biosynthesis, and catabolism of fatty acids as well as the secretion and biological synthesis of bile acids. Furthermore, MDG-1 may act upon peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPAR) α and γ, activating PPARα whilst inhibiting PPARγ, thus having a potent hypolipidemic effect.

Abstract:Hyperlipidemia is closely related to multiple diseases and is characterized by abnormal serum lipid profiles. The biological function of lentinan in mice and rats was studied, but the mechanism of its lipid-lowering effect was not completely clear. In this study, network pharmacological analysis, molecular docking, and molecular dynamics simulation were used to explore the potential mechanism of its lipid-lowering effect and high-fat diet (HFD) mice was used to confirm the predicted mechanism. Our results indicated that lentinan could ameliorate hyperlipidemia by regulating peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs), sterol response element-binding protein-1 (SREBP1), and nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB) in the hepatic tissues of mices. Further animal experiment showed that lentinan could regulate the mRNA expressions of lipid metabolism-related genes, such as PPARα, PPARδ, PPARγ, cluster of differentiation 36 (CD36) and SREBP-1c. Moreover, lentinan supplementation could reduce the expressions of inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and inducible nitric oxide sythase (iNOS). In cell model, lentinan also could inhibit oleic acid-induced lipid droplet formation and the expressions of lipid metabolism-related genes and reduced inflammatory factor expressions in HepG2 cells, which further approved the results of animal experiment. Taken together, our results suggest that lentinan can ameliorate hyperlipidemia via regulating lipid metabolism-related gene expressions and reduce obesity-induced inflammatory response.

Abstract:Concerns on the effects of Mortierella isabellina and unsaturated fatty acids extracted on hyperlipidemic mice.Mice were fed with high-fat diet for 13 weeks,then with the fungi-derived unsaturated fatty acids for 7 weeks.The result suggested that the white adipose tissue may be one of the main therapeutic targets,resulting in the reduction of body weight;and decrease TC/HDL-c level in high-fat diet mice,ameliorate the ratio of cholesterol in plasma as well by Mortierella isabellina.

Abstract:This study aimed to investigate the structural properties of tobacco polysaccharide (TP) and its mechanism of modulating hyperlipidemia in high-fat diet-induced mice. The structural properties of TP were characterized by FT-IR, 1HNMR, SEM, AFM and thermogravimetric analysis. And the regulatory mechanism of TP on lipid metabolism was investigated in hyperlipidemia mice. These results showed that TP had a high composition of reducing monosaccharide and the glycosidic bond type was α-glycosidic bond. The intervention by TP resulted in a significant reduction of body weight and improvement in lipid accumulation. And the modulation mechanism by which TP ameliorated the abnormalities of lipid metabolism was associated with the expression levels of lipid metabolism-related genes and serum exosomes miRNA-128-3p, as well as the modulation of structure and abundance of the gut microbiota in mice. In addition, TP treatment significantly increased the content of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) in mice feces. The results of molecular docking and dual-luciferase assay exhibited a good interaction between propionic acid and PPAR-α, and it was hypothesized that the interaction might further ameliorate the hyperlipidemia. Therefore, TP can regulate the expression levels of lipid metabolism-related genes through miRNAs from serum exosomes and SCFAs from gut microbiota.

Abstract:In this experiment, a high-fat diet was used to induce hyperlipidemia in mice to determine the synergistic effect of AX and L. fermentum HFY06 on the prevention of hyperlipidemia and its potential regulatory mechanism. The results of this study showed that after the AX and L. fermentum HFY06 synergistic intervention, the body weight, epididymal fat index, blood lipid level, and liver function indexes of mice were improved. In addition, the synbiotics comprising AX and L. fermentum HFY06 increased the CAT activity in the serum of mice on a high-fat diet, reduced NO and MDA levels, and improved the body’s oxidative stress. From the perspective of molecular biology, on the one hand, AX and L. fermentum HFY06 synergistic intervention activated the AMPK pathway to regulate body lipid metabolism; up-regulated the mRNA expressions of CPT-1, PPAR-α, CYP7A1, and HSL; and down-regulated the mRNA expressions of ACC, C/EBPα, and LPL. On the other hand, the synergistic effect of AX and HFY06 enhanced the mRNA expressions of ZO-1, occludin, and claudin-1 in the small intestine of mice, increased the strength of the intestinal barrier, and optimized the composition of the intestinal microbiota. From the above results, it can be concluded that AX and L. fermentum HFY06 have a synergistic effect in improving hyperlipidemia. However, this study was only performed using animal models, and the lipid synthesis and metabolism mechanism are complicated; hence, further clinical studies are needed.
