Abstract:We introduce small cap square function estimates for parabola and cone, and prove the sharp estimates. More precisely, we study the inequalities of form \[ \|f\|_p\le C_{\alpha,p}(R) \Big\|(\sum_{\gamma\in\Gamma_\alpha(R^{-1})}|f_\gamma|^2)^{1/2}\Big\|_p, \] where $\Gamma_\alpha(R^{-1})$ is the set of small caps of width $R^{-\alpha}$. We find the sharp constant $C_{\alpha,p}(R)$.

Generalized square function estimates for curves and their conical extensions

Abstract:We show sharp square function estimates for curves in the plane whose curvature degenerates at a point and estimates sharp up to endpoints for cones over these curves. To this end, for curves of finite type we extend the classical Córdoba--Fefferman biorthogonality. For cones over degenerate curves, we analyze wave envelope estimates proved via High-Low-decomposition. The arguments are subsequently extended to the cone over the complex parabola.

Abstract:We prove strong-type $A_p$-$A_\infty$ estimate for square functions, improving on the $ A_p$ bound due to Lerner. Entropy bounds, in the recent innovation of Treil-Volberg, are then proved. The techniques of proof include parallel stopping cubes, pigeon-hole arguments, and the approach to entropy bounds of Lacey--Spencer.

Abstract:We prove a variable coefficient version of the square function estimate of Guth--Wang--Zhang. By a classical argument of Mockenhaupt--Seeger--Sogge, it implies the full range of sharp local smoothing estimates for $2+1$ dimensional Fourier integral operators satisfying the cinematic curvature condition. In particular, the local smoothing conjecture for wave equations on compact Riemannian surfaces is completely settled.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the boundedness of a square function operator from ergodic theory acting on noncommutative Lp-spaces. The main result is a weak type (1,1) estimate of this operator. We also show the (L∞,BMO) estimate, and thus all the strong type (Lp,Lp) estimates by interpolation. The main new difficulty lies in the fact that the kernel of this square function operator does not enjoy any regularity, while the Lipschitz regularity assumption is crucial in showing such endpoint estimates for the noncommutative Calderón-Zygmund singular integrals.

Abstract:In this paper we establish square-function estimates on the double and single layer potentials for divergence-form elliptic operators, of arbitrary even order 2m, with variable t-independent coefficients in the upper half-space. This generalizes known results for variable-coefficient second-order operators, and also for constant-coefficient higher-order operators.

Abstract:We study certain square functions on product spaces ℝ n ×ℝ m , whose integral kernels are obtained from kernels which are homogeneous in each factor ℝ n and ℝ m locally in L(log+L) away from ℝ n ×{0} and ℝ m by means of polynomial distortions in the radial variable. As a model case, we obtain that the Marcinkiewicz integral operator is bounded on L p (ℝ n ×ℝ m )(p>1) for Ω∈Llog+L(Sn−1×Sm−1) satisfying the cancellation condition.

Abstract:Let $E$ be a CM elliptic curve over $\Bbb{Q}$. We refine the work of Cojocaru on the asymptotic formulae for the number of primes $p\le x$ for which the reduction modulo $p$ of $E$ is of square-free order. Also, we derive an unconditional short interval variant for the asymptotics. Compared to the estimate derived from the generalised Riemann hypothesis, the presented result is valid for even shorter intervals. Furthermore, we improve the short interval variant of the cyclicity problem for CM elliptic curves obtained by the author.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish an improved variable coefficient version of square function inequality, by which the local smoothing estimate $L^p_\alpha\rightarrow L^p$ for the Fourier integral operators satisfying cinematic curvature condition is further improved. In particular, we establish almost sharp results for $2<p\leq 3$ and push forward the estimate for the critical point $p=4$. As a consequence, the local smoothing estimate for the wave equation on the manifold is refined. We generalize the results in \cite{LeVa12, Le18P} to its variable coefficient counterpart. The main ingredients in the argument includes multilinear oscillatory integral estimate \cite{BCT06} and decoupling inequality \cite{BelHicSog18P}.

Abstract:We prove a small cap decoupling theorem for the parabola over a general non-Archimedean local field for which $2\neq 0$. We obtain polylogarithmic dependence on the scale parameter $R$ and polynomial dependence in the residue prime, except for the prime 2 for which the polynomial depends on degree. Our constants are fully explicit.

Abstract:Let $S_{\alpha }$ be the multilinear square function defined on the cone with aperture $\alpha \ge 1$. In this paper, we investigate several kinds of weighted norm inequalities for $S_{\alpha }$. We first obtain a sharp weighted estimate in terms of aperture $\alpha $ and $\vec {w} \in A_{\vec {p}}$. By means of some pointwise estimates, we also establish two-weight inequalities including bump and entropy bump estimates, and Fefferman–Stein inequalities with arbitrary weights. Beyond that, we consider the mixed weak type estimates corresponding Sawyer's conjecture, for which a Coifman–Fefferman inequality with the precise $A_{\infty }$ norm is proved. Finally, we present the local decay estimates using the extrapolation techniques and dyadic analysis respectively. All the conclusions aforementioned hold for the Littlewood–Paley $g^*_{\lambda }$ function. Some results are new even in the linear case.

Abstract:We obtain a new square function characterization of the weak Hardy space $H^{p,\infty }$ for all $p\in (0,\infty )$. This space consists of all tempered distributions whose smooth maximal function lies in weak $L^p$. Our proof is based on interpolation between $H^p$ spaces. The main difficulty we overcome is the lack of a good dense subspace of $H^{p,\infty }$ which forces us to work with general $H^{p,\infty }$ distributions.
