Abstract:Fuzzy Multi-Criteria Decision-Making Methods (MCDM) techniques are integrated into an accurate and resilient methodology to help choose portfolios and manage the risks and uncertainties presented by the post-COVID market environment. This paper investigates the financial performance of mutual funds in India using novel weighted distribution-based fuzzy MCDM techniques to establish an investment decision model for portfolio selection. The study proposes mutual funds as an external proxy for comparing MCDM methods based on their superiority in internal features. This study aims to help investors select the most appropriate portfolio for maximizing returns. The paper examines leading companies in India, taking into consideration the interrelation effects among criteria/variables of the decision model. The analytical data for the last ten years has been collected every month. The equity diversified funds are comparatively analysed using different criteria, such as fuzzy analytical hierarchy processes (FAHP) and entropy methods. The outcomes are ranked using various ranking methods to provide a better model for selecting the equity-based mutual fund portfolio. This study compares the rankings of investment options using FAHP and entropy weighting techniques and concludes that, with a criteria weight of 0.06981, the Birla Sunlife Dividend Yield Plus Fund ranked first according to the TOPSIS and PROMETHEE method.
