Abstract:In this paper, we consider the M/G/1 stochastic clearing queueing model in a three-phase environment, which is described by integro-partial differential equations (IPDEs). Our first result is semigroup well-posedness for the dynamic system. Utilizing a C0−semigroup theory, we prove that the system has a unique positive time-dependent solution (TDS) that satisfies the probability condition. As our second result, we prove that the TDS of the system strongly converges to its steady-state solution (SSS) if the service rates of the servers are constants. For this asymptotic behavior, we analyze the spectrum of the system operator associated with the system. Additionally, the stability of the semigroup generated by the system operator is also discussed.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is the dynamic behavior analysis in the M/G/1 stochastic emptying queuing model in a three - stage environment. Specifically, the author focuses on how to describe the dynamic characteristics of the system through Integro - Partial Differential Equations (IPDEs) in such a system, and prove the well - posedness of the semigroup of the system and the existence and uniqueness of the Time - Dependent Solution (TDS). In addition, the paper also explores whether the TDS can strongly converge to its Steady - State Solution (SSS) when the service rate is constant, and discusses the stability of the corresponding semigroup. ### Main research contents 1. **Well - posedness of the semigroup**: - Using the \(C_0\) semigroup theory, it is proved that the system has a unique positive Time - Dependent Solution (TDS) and satisfies the probability condition. 2. **Convergence of the steady - state solution**: - When the service rate is constant, it is proved that the TDS strongly converges to its Steady - State Solution (SSS). To this end, the author analyzes the spectral properties of the system operator, especially that zero is the point spectrum of the operator and its adjoint operator, and the geometric multiplicity is one. 3. **Stability of the semigroup**: - The stability of the semigroup generated by the system operator is discussed. In particular, under the Spectrum - Determined Growth Condition (SDGC), the growth rate of the semigroup is equal to zero, but it is not asymptotically stable. ### System description - **Three - stage environment**: - Stages 1 and 3 are working stages, and stage 2 is a deterministic time stage without service. - The Poisson arrival rates \(\lambda_j\) (\(j = 1,2,3\)) are different in each stage, the service times in stages 1 and 3 follow a general distribution, and the time that the system stays in each stage follows an exponential distribution. - In stage 2, if a new customer arrives, it enters the system with probability \(p\) and leaves the system with probability \(1 - p\), the customer does not receive service and experiences a fixed time \(d\). - **Boundary and initial conditions**: - The boundary conditions and initial conditions of the system are given to ensure the continuity and uniqueness of the system solution in time and space. ### Mathematical tools - **Integro - Partial Differential Equations (IPDEs)**: - Describe the dynamic behavior of the system. - **\(C_0\) semigroup theory**: - Used to prove the well - posedness of the system and the existence and uniqueness of the solution. - **Spectral analysis**: - Used to analyze the spectral properties of the system operator, especially the spectral properties of zero. ### Application background - **Practical applications**: - This model has a wide range of applications in manufacturing, healthcare, tourism, transportation and other fields, especially in systems that need to handle random inputs and emptying operations. Through these studies, the author not only provides a theoretical basis for understanding the dynamic behavior of complex queuing systems, but also provides an important reference for system design and optimization in practical applications.
