Abstract:We study some density results for integral points on the complement of a closed subvariety in the $n$-dimensional projective space over a number field. For instance, we consider a subvariety whose components consist of $n-1$ hyperplanes plus one smooth quadric hypersurface in general position, or four hyperplanes in general position plus a finite number of concurrent straight lines. In these cases, under some conditions on intersection, we show that the integral points on the complements are potentially dense. Our results are generalizations of Corvaja-Zucconi's results for complements of subvarieties in the two or three dimensional projective space.

Abstract:We determine a basis of the (twisted) cocenter of graded affine Hecke algebras with arbitrary parameters. In this setting, we prove that the kernel of the (twisted) trace map is the commutator subspace (Density theorem) and that the image is the space of good forms (trace Paley-Wiener theorem).

Abstract:We introduce trianguline deformation spaces $X_{\tri} (\overline{\rho})$ for a $\GSp_{2n}$-valued residual representation $\overline{\rho} \colon {\mathcal{G}}_K \to \GSp_{2n} (k)$, where $k$ is a finite field of characteristic $p > 0$ and ${\mathcal{G}}_K$ is the absolute Galois group of a finite extension $K / {\mathbb{Q}}_p$, and study their properties. We show Zariski density of the crystalline points on the rigid generic fiber ${\mathfrak{X}}_{\overline{\rho}}$ of the framed deformation space of $\overline{\rho}$ under some conditions.

Abstract:The paper contains a review of known results and proofs of new results on conditions on a set in a Banach space that are necessary or sufficient for the additive semigroup to be dense in . We prove, in particular, that if is a rectifiable curve in a uniformly smooth real space , and does not lie entirely in any closed half-space, then is dense in . We present known and new results on the approximation by simple partial fractions (logarithmic derivatives of polynomials) in various spaces of functions of a complex variable. Meanwhile, some well-known theorems, in particular, Korevaar's theorem, are derived from new general results on the density of a semigroup. We also study approximation by sums of shifts of one function, which are a natural generalization of simple partial fractions. Bibliography: 79 titles.

Abstract:We study the characters induced by suitable level structures of abelian varieties with quaternionic multiplication following the methods of Mazur, Momose, who studied the characters induced by elliptic curves, and Arai--Momose, who studied the characters induced by abelian surfaces with quaternionic multiplication. Also using results on such characters we show that Shimura varieties parametrizing them have rarely rational points.

Abstract:We obtain density theorems for cuspidal automorphic representations of $\text{GL}_n$ over $\mathbb{Q}$ which fail the generalized Ramanujan conjecture at some place. We depart from previous approaches based on Kuznetsov-type trace formulae, and instead rely on $L$-function techniques. This improves recent results of Blomer near the threshold of the pointwise bounds.

Abstract:We systematically study relative and absolute ${\Delta}_{\mathrm{dR}}^+$-crystals on the (log-) prismatic site of a smooth (resp.~ semi-stable) formal scheme. Using explicit computation of stratifications, we classify (local) relative crystals by certain nilpotent connections, and classify (local) absolute crystals by certain enhanced connections. By using a $p$-adic Riemann--Hilbert functor and an infinite dimensional Sen theory over the Kummer tower, we globalize the results on absolute crystals and further classify them by certain small (global) $\mathbb{B}_{\mathrm{dR}}^+$-local systems.

Heights of Special Points on Quaternionic Shimura Varieties

Abstract:Let $B/F$ be a quaternion algebra over a totally real number field. We give an explicit formula for heights of special points on the quaternionic Shimura variety associated with $B$ in terms of Faltings heights of CM abelian varieties. Special points correspond to CM fields $E$ and partial CM-types $\phi \subset \mathrm{Hom}(E, \mathbb{C})$. We then show that our height is compatible with the canonical height of a partial CM-type defined by Pila, Shankar, and Tsimerman. This gives another proof that the height of a partial CM-type is bounded subpolynomially in terms of the discriminant of $E$.

Abstract:The goal of this paper is to study the Chern classes of coherent sheaves (and more generally perfect complexes) that admit crystal structures in the setting of crystalline cohomology and more generally relative prismatic cohomology. In the former theory, we show that the Chern classes vanish on the nose; in the latter theory, we show the classes are torsion with uniformly bounded exponents determined by suitable Bernoulli numbers. We also formulate some questions about syntomic Chern classes of such sheaves.

Hecke and Galois Properties of Special Cycles on Unitary Shimura Varieties

Abstract:We define and study a collection of special cycles on certain non-PEL Shimura varieties for $U(2,1) \times U(1,1)$ that appear naturally in the context of the recent conjectures of Gan, Gross and Prasad on restrictions of automorphic forms for unitary groups and conjectural generalizations of the Gross--Zagier formula. We prove a combinatorial formula expressing the Galois action in terms of the distance function on the Bruhat--Tits buildings for these groups. In addition, we calculate explicitly the Hecke polynomial appearing in the congruence relation conjectured by Blasius and Rogawski. Using methods and recent results of Koskivirta, we prove the congruence relation in this case. Finally, using the action of the local Hecke algebra on the Bruhat--Tits building, we establish explicit relations (distribution relations) between the Hecke action and the Galois action on the special cycles. These relations are key for a work in progress by the author on constructing a new Euler system from these cycles and using it to prove instances of the Bloch{Kato{ Beilinson conjecture for certain Galois representations associated to automorphic forms on unitary groups.

Abstract:We compute the density of primes represented by a special quadratic form in a fixed square residue class. Using this result and a new method introduced by Thaine we prove the fact that for a prime p > 3 congruent to 3 modulo 4, the component e ( p +1)/2 of the p -Sylow subgroup of the ideal class group of ℚ( ζ p ) is trivial.

Abstract:Working over a base number field $\KK$, we study the attractive question of Zariski non-density for $(D,S)$-integral points in $\mathrm{O}_f(x)$ the forward $f$-orbit of a rational point $x \in X(\KK)$. Here, $f \colon X \rightarrow X$ is a regular surjective self-map for $X$ a geometrically irreducible projective variety over $\KK$. Given a non-zero and effective $f$-quasi-polarizable Cartier divisor $D$ on $X$ and defined over $\KK$, our main result gives a sufficient condition, that is formulated in terms of the $f$-dynamics of $D$, for non-Zariski density of certain dynamically defined subsets of $\mathrm{O}_f(x)$. For the case of $(D,S)$-integral points, this result gives a sufficient condition for non-Zariski density of integral points in $\mathrm{O}_f(x)$. Our approach expands on that of Yasufuku, \cite{Yasufuku:2015}, building on earlier work of Silverman \cite{Silverman:1993}. Our main result gives an unconditional form of the main results of loc.~cit.; the key arithmetic input to our main theorem is the Subspace Theorem of Schmidt in the generalized form that has been given by Ru and Vojta in \cite{Ru:Vojta:2016} and expanded upon in \cite{Grieve:points:bounded:degree} and \cite{Grieve:qualitative:subspace}.

Abstract:The relative density of visible points of the integer lattice $\mathbb{Z}^d$ is known to be $1/\zeta(d)$ for $d\geq 2$, where $\zeta$ is Riemann's zeta function. In this paper we prove that the relative density of visible points in the Ammann-Beenker point set is given by $2(\sqrt{2}-1)/\zeta_K(2)$, where $\zeta_K$ is Dedekind's zeta function over $K=\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{2})$.

Abstract:Let be a smooth -adic formal scheme. We show that integral crystalline local systems on the generic fiber of are equivalent to prismatic -crystals over the analytic locus of the prismatic site of . As an application, we give a prismatic proof of Fontaine's -conjecture, for general coefficients, in the relative setting, and allowing ramified base fields. Along the way, we also establish various foundational results for the cohomology of prismatic -crystals, including various comparison theorems, Poincaré duality, and Frobenius isogeny.

Abstract:We show that the graph of normalized elliptic Dedekind sums is dense in its image for arbitrary imaginary quadratic fields, generalizing a result of Ito in the Euclidean case. We also derive some basic properties of Martin's continued fraction algorithm for arbitrary imaginary quadratic fields.

Abstract:Similarly to the theory of crystalline cohomology, we give a local description of a prismatic crystal and its cohomology in terms of a $q$-Higgs module and the associated $q$-Higgs complex on the bounded prismatic envelope of an embedding into a framed smooth algebra, when the base bounded prism is defined over the $q$-crystalline prism. We also discuss its behavior under the scalar extension by the Frobenius lifting and tensor products, and a global description of the cohomology of a prismatic crystal via Zariski cohomological descent.

Abstract:Our goal is to study $p$-adic local systems on a rigid-analytic variety with semistable formal model. We prove that such a local system is semistable if and only if so are its restrictions to the points corresponding to the irreducible components of the special fiber. For this, the main body of the paper concerns analytic prismatic $F$-crystals on the absolute logarithmic prismatic site of a semistable $p$-adic log formal scheme. Analyzing Breuil-Kisin log prisms, we obtain a prismatic purity theorem and deduce the above purity theorem for semistable local systems.

Abstract:A new categorical crystal structure for the quantum affine algebras is presented. We introduce the extended crystal $\widehat{B}_{\mathfrak{g}}(\infty)$ for an arbitrary quantum group, which is the product of infinite copies of the crystal $B(\infty)$. For a complete duality datum in the Hernandez-Leclerc category $\mathcal{C}^0_{\mathfrak{g}}$ of a quantum affine algebra $U_q'(\mathfrak{g})$, we prove that the set of the isomorphism classes of simple modules in $\mathcal{C}^0_{\mathfrak{g}}$ has an extended crystal structure isomorphic to the extended crystal $\widehat{B}_{\mathfrak{g}}(\infty)$. An explicit combinatorial description of the extended crystal $\widehat{B}_{\mathfrak{g}}(\infty)$ for affine type $A_n^{(1)}$ is given in terms of affine highest weights.
