Abstract:To address the issue of imperfect quantification methods for combustion control, a novel approach based on fictitious reaction mechanism has been proposed. This approach aims to analyze the chemical action of chemical reaction additives that can react by themselves. The chemical action of additives is divided into two types: reaction-radical effect and reaction-thermal effect. To prove the effectiveness of the proposed approach, it was compared with the single-step mechanism method. The results showed that the proposed approach is effective in quantifying the combustion control chemical action of chemical reaction additives. The proposed approach was further validated by studying two typical additives, hydrogen and di(2,2,2trifluoroethyl) carbonate (DtFEC), at both methane flame and ignition conditions. The results demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed approach in quantifying the combustion control chemical action of chemical reaction additives. Moreover, by utilizing the fictitious reaction mechanism in conjunction with sensitivity analysis, the significant reaction pathway for reaction-thermal and reaction-radical effects have been determined. This provides a new analytical approach for examining the combustion promotion/inhibition mechanism of additives and lays a theoretical foundation for the screening and development of next-generation combustion additives.
