Abstract:The problem of aircraft spin recovery in the presence of wind and wind shear is addressed in this work. Three different scenarios for the wind are considered: fixed direction and fixed speed, fixed direction and variable speed, and variable direction and fixed speed. First, a mathematical wind and wind shear model is constructed and integrated into the aircraft's equations of motion. The flight simulation model of the F-18 High Alpha Research Vehicle (HARV) has demonstrated each situation under consideration. An effort to handle the spin flight problem in the presence of wind and wind shear, a sliding-mode-based controller has been developed. The paper's contributions are the analysis of wind and wind shear effects on spin recovery profiles, where both altitude loss and spin recovery time are reduced. Furthermore, the current research's simulation results show that the proposed control law accomplishes spin recovery with wind and wind shear, demonstrating its robustness. The robustness is also demonstrated by performing Monte Carlo simulation on the aerodynamic model and mass properties of the aircraft. The results obtained have been compared with no wind and wind shear conditions. The outcomes are additionally compared with the Von Kármán wind turbulence model, and it turns out that this could be used as a substitute for the wind shear model taken into consideration in this study.
