Abstract:The US spends more on healthcare than other prosperous western countries, but Americans die four years earlier, says a study comparing US healthcare with that of nine other nations. The US also has the highest rate of preventable and treatable deaths for all ages, as well as excess deaths during the pandemic for people under 75."Americans live the shortest lives and have the most avoidable deaths. The ability to keep people healthy is a critical indicator of a nation's capacity to achieve equitable growth.
