What problem does this paper attempt to address?
### Problems the Paper Attempts to Solve This paper aims to evaluate the structural changes in the retina and choroid of patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) over a 3-year follow-up period using Swept-Source Optical Coherence Tomography (SS-OCT) and Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography (OCT-A) technologies, and to explore the association between these changes and diabetic kidney disease (DKD). Specifically, the study focuses on: 1. **Early Neurovascular Damage**: Whether there is early neurovascular damage in the retina and choroid of T2D patients with only mild or no diabetic retinopathy (DR). 2. **Progression of Neurovascular Damage**: Whether these early neurovascular damages worsen over time. 3. **Impact of Glycemic Control and Renal Function Parameters**: Whether the progression of neurovascular damage is related to glycemic control and renal function impairment. The study results indicate that there is early and progressive neurovascular damage in T2D patients, which may be associated with poor glycemic control and renal function impairment.
