Abstract:Law enforcement and security cooperation on the Mekong River Basin are a complex challenge that China,Laos,Myanmar and Thailand jointly face. The complexity is caused by this region's natural environment,social background,and other issues that law enforcement and security cooperation would encounter. Among them,the most important issue is the transnational flow of people and goods which gathered through local shortcuts. In addition,these countries are different in level of economic development and performance,the willingness to cooperate,the capability of law enforcement,and domestic political settings. These differences also directly lead to the differences in the benefit that each country would receive from the cooperation. This generates a big challenge for the law enforcement and security cooperation. With the acceleration of the globalization process,various complex factors come into Southeast Asian region,and cause the enormous challenge of uncertainty for law enforcement and security cooperation on the Mekong River Basin.
