Abstract:Updated College of American Pathologists guideline recommendations include specific guidelines for validating immunohistochemistry assays performed on cytology specimens. The new recommendations may be the impetus needed to open the door to a wider adoption of cytology specimens into routine clinical practice for immunochemistry‐based assays that drive patient care and biomarker‐driven therapeutics.
