Abstract:This article (and all articles in the proceedings volume relating to the same conference) has been retracted by IOP Publishing following an extensive investigation in line with the COPE guidelines. This investigation has uncovered evidence of systematic manipulation of the publication process and considerable citation manipulation. IOP Publishing respectfully requests that readers consider all work within this volume potentially unreliable, as the volume has not been through a credible peer review process. IOP Publishing regrets that our usual quality checks did not identify these issues before publication, and have since put additional measures in place to try to prevent these issues from reoccurring. IOP Publishing wishes to credit anonymous whistleblowers and the Problematic Paper Screener [1] for bringing some of the above issues to our attention, prompting us to investigate further. This article has been retracted at the request of the Editor-in-Chief. The journal's investigation showed the following: The only really new parts of the article (compared with the earlier Applied Surface Science paper “Si-rich a-Si1−xCx thin films by d.c. magnetron co-sputtering of silicon and silicon carbide: Structural and optical properties “ (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.apsusc.2012.10.129)) are chapter 3.5 (Gas Sensor Testing) and parts of chapter 4. (Conclusion) Ten out of fifteen figures (1.a,b,c, 2., 3., 4., 5., 6.a,b,c) are completely or at least mainly identical with the earlier Applied Surface Science paper. Major parts of the text up to chapter 3.5 are largely identical with the earlier Applied Surface Science paper. One of the conditions of submission of a paper for publication is that authors declare explicitly that their work is original and has not appeared in a publication elsewhere. As such this article represents an abuse of the scientific publishing system. The scientific community takes a very strong view on this matter and apologies are offered to readers of the journal that this was not detected during the submission process.

Abstract:The article "Valsartan reduces AT1-AA-induced apoptosis through suppression oxidative stress mediated ER stress in endothelial progenitor cells" by Z.-C. Wang, J. Qi, L.-M. Liu, J. Li, H.-Y. Xu, B. Liang, B. Li, published in Eur Rev Med Pharmacol Sci 2017; 21 (5): 1159-1168 - PMID: 28338173 has been retracted by the Editor in Chief. Following some concerns raised on PubPeer (link: https://pubpeer.com/publications/8FA8D4C63DE61DDB6C89537AD04B24), the Editor in Chief has started an investigation to assess the validity of the results as well as possible figure manipulation. The authors have been informed about the journal's investigation but remained unresponsive and have not provided the study's raw data. The journal's investigation revealed a Figure duplication in Figure 2C between panels AT1-AA (2.5 µM), AT1-AA (5 µM), AT1-AA (10 µM), and AT1-AA+Valsartan. Consequently, the Editor in Chief mistrusts the results presented and has decided to retract the article. This article has been retracted. Feng, published in Eur Rev Med Pharmacol Sci 2019; 23 (22): 9840-9847-DOI: 10.26355/eurrev_201911_19547-PMID: 31799651 Have been retracted by the Editor in Chief for misconduct and data fabrication. In 2020, some concerns have been raised on PubPeer about the reliability of data and image duplication. An investigation conducted by the Jining First People's Hospital, the authors' institution, released on December 17, 2021, and on December 29, 2021, respectively, determined that the authors had engaged in academic misconduct by fabricating the research process. Consequently, the Editor in Chief mistrusts the results presented and has decided to withdraw the articles.
