Two applications are given to short-interval results for primes and for Goldbach numbers. Abstract:This paper gives an explicit version of Selberg's 1943 mean-value estimate for the prime number theorem in intervals under the Riemann hypothesis. Two applications are given: for primes in short intervals, and Goldbach numbers (sums of two primes) in short intervals. Under the Riemann hypothesis, we show there exists a prime in $(y,y+32277\log^2 y]$ for at least half the $y\in[x,2x]$ for all $x\geq 2$, and at least one Goldbach number in $(x,x+9696 \log^2 x]$ for all $x\geq 2$.

Abstract:Baker, Harman, and Pintz showed that a weak form of the Prime Number Theorem holds in intervals of the form [x-x0.525,x]$$[x-x^{0.525},x]$$ for large x. In this paper, we extend a result of Maynard and Tao concerning small gaps between primes to intervals of this length. More precisely, we prove that for any δ∈[0.525,1]$$\delta \in [0.525,1]$$ there exist positive integers k, d such that for sufficiently large x, the interval [x-xδ,x]$$[x-x^\delta ,x]$$ contains ≫kxδ(logx)k$$\gg _{k} \frac{x^\delta }{(\log x)^k}$$ pairs of consecutive primes differing by at most d. This confirms a speculation of Maynard that results on small gaps between primes can be refined to the setting of short intervals of this length.

Abstract:Assuming a weaker form of the Riemann hypothesis for Dedekind zeta functions by allowing Siegel zeros, we extend a classical result of Cramér on the number of primes in short intervals to prime ideals of the ring of integers in cyclotomic extensions with norms belonging to such intervals. The extension is uniform with respect to the degree of the cyclotomic extension. Our approach is based on the arithmetic of cyclotomic fields and analytic properties of their Dedekind zeta functions together with a lower bound for the number of primes over progressions in short intervals subject to similar assumptions. Uniformity with respect to the modulus of the progression is obtained and the lower bound turns out to be best possible, apart from constants, as shown by the Brun–Titchmarsh theorem.

Abstract:Assuming the Riemann hypothesis, this article discusses a new elementary argument that seems to prove that the maximal prime gap of a finite sequence of primes p_1, p_2, ..., p_n <= x, satisfies max {p_(n+1) - p_n : p_n <= x} <= c1((logx)^2)/loglogx, c1 > 0 constant.
