Abstract:We show scalar-mean curvature rigidity of warped products of round spheres of dimension at least 2 over compact intervals equipped with strictly log-concave warping functions. This generalizes earlier results of Cecchini-Zeidler to all dimensions. Moreover, we show scalar curvature rigidity of round spheres of dimension at least 3 with two antipodal points removed. This resolves a problem in Gromov's ''Four Lectures'' in all dimensions. Our arguments are based on spin geometry.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the critical metrics for quadratic curvature functionals involving the Ricci curvature and scalar curvature in the space of Riemannian metrics with unit volume. For these functionals, Einstein metrics are always critical metrics. However, a converse problem is not always true. The purpose of this paper is to show that, under the condition that the critical metrics are Bach-flat, a partial converse is true.

Abstract:In this paper we prove the scalar curvature extremality and rigidity for a class of warped product spaces that are possibly degenerate at the two ends. The leaves of these warped product spaces can be any closed Riemannian manifolds with nonnegative curvature operators and nonvanishing Euler characteristics, flat tori, round spheres and their direct products. In particular, we obtain the scalar curvature extremality and rigidity for certain degenerate toric bands and also for round spheres with two antipodal points removed. This answers positively the corresponding questions of Gromov in all dimensions.

Abstract:By exploiting the conformality of a warped product metric with a direct product metric, we develop a new connection on a twisted spinor bundle and its associated Dirac operator. We obtain a Llarull type scalar curvature rigidity for a general class of domains in a warped product. Also, we are able to address Gromov dihedral rigidity in hyperbolic space assuming matching angles.

Abstract:A theorem of Llarull says that if a smooth metric $g$ on the $n$-sphere $\mathbb{S}^n$ is bounded below by the standard round metric and the scalar curvature $R_g$ of $g$ is bounded below by $n (n - 1)$, then the metric $g$ must be the standard round metric. We prove a spectral Llarull theorem by replacing the bound $R_g \geq n (n - 1)$ by a lower bound on the first eigenvalue of an elliptic operator involving the Laplacian and the scalar curvature $R_g$. We utilize two methods: spinor and spacetime harmonic function.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the closed embedded hypersurface Sigma in the warped product manifold M = [0, (r) over bar) x N equipped with the metric g = dr(2) +lambda(r)(2)gN. We give some characterizations of slice {r} x N by the condition that Sigma has constant weighted higher-order mean curvatures (lambda ')(alpha)p(k), or constant weighted higher-order mean curvature ratio (lambda ')(alpha)p(k)/p(1), which generalize Brendle's [Constant mean curvature surfaces in warped product manifolds, Publ. Math. Inst. Hautes Etudes Sci. 117 (2013) 247-269] and Brendle-Eichmair's [Isoperimetric and Weingarten surfaces in the Schwarzschild manifold, J. Differential Geom. 94(3) (2013) 387-407] results. In particular, we show that the assumption convex of Brendle-Eichmair's result [Isoperimetric and Weingarten surfaces in the Schwarzschild manifold, J. Differential Geom. 94(3) (2013) 387-407] is unnecessary. Here p(k) is the kth normalized mean curvature of the hypersurface S. As a special case, we also give some characterizations of geodesic spheres in R-n, H-n and S-+(n), which generalize the classical Alexandrov-type results.

Abstract:In this paper, we first investigate several rigidity problems for hypersurfaces in the warped product manifolds with constant linear combinations of higher order mean curvatures as well as “weighted” mean curvatures, which extend the work (Brendle in Publ Math Inst Hautes Études Sci 117:247–269, 2013 ; Brendle and Eichmair in J Differ Geom 94(94):387–407, 2013 ; Montiel in Indiana Univ Math J 48:711–748, 1999 ) considering constant mean curvature functions. Secondly, we obtain the rigidity results for hypersurfaces in the space forms with constant linear combinations of intrinsic Gauss–Bonnet curvatures L_k . To achieve this, we develop some new kind of Newton–Maclaurin type inequalities on L_k which may have independent interest.

Abstract:We prove the rigidity of rectifiable boundaries with constant distributional mean curvature in the Brendle class of warped product manifolds (which includes important models in General Relativity, like the deSitter--Schwarzschild and Reissner--Nordstrom manifolds). As a corollary we characterize limits of rectifiable boundaries whose mean curvatures converge, as distributions, to a constant. The latter result is new, and requires the full strength of distributional CMC-rigidity, even when one considers smooth boundaries whose mean curvature oscillations vanish in arbitrarily strong $C^k$-norms.

Abstract:This article investigates the geometric and topologic of warped product submanifolds in Riemannian warped product Q ε m × R . In this respect, we obtain the first Chen inequality that involves extrinsic invariants like the length of the warping functions and the mean curvature. This inequality involves two intrinsic invariants (sectional curvature and δ -invariant). In addition, an integral bound is provided for the Bochner operator formula of compact warped product submanifolds in terms of the Ricci curvature gradient. We aim to apply this theory to many structures and obtain Dirichlet eigenvalues for problem applications. Some new results regarding the vanishing mean curvature are presented as a partial solution, and this can be considered for the well-known problem given by Chern.

Abstract:One of the fundamental problems in Finsler geometry is to study Finsler metrics of constant (or scalar) curvature. In this paper, we refine and improve Chen-Shen-Zhao equations characterizing Finsler warped product metrics of scalar flag curvature. In particular, we find equations that characterize Finsler warped product metrics of constant flag curvature. Then we improve the Chen-Shen-Zhao result on characterizing Einstein Finsler warped product metrics. As its application we construct explicitly many new warped product Douglas metrics of constant Ricci curvature by using known locally projectively flat spherically symmetric metrics of constant flag curvature.

Abstract:Given a compact Riemannian manifold M, we consider a warped product manifold ${\bar{M}} = I \times _h M$, where I is an open interval in ${\mathbb {R}}$. For a positive function $\psi $ defined on ${\bar{M}}$, we generalize the arguments in Guan et al. (Commun. Pure Appl. Math. 68(8):1287–1325, 2015) and Ren and Wang (On the curvature estimates for Hessian equations, 2016. arXiv:1602.06535), to obtain the curvature estimates for Hessian equations $\sigma _k(\kappa )=\psi (V,\nu (V))$. We also obtain some existence results for the starshaped compact hypersurface $\Sigma $ satisfying the above equation with various assumptions.
Gradient Einstein-type warped products: rigidity, existence and nonexistence results via a nonlinear PDE

Abstract:We establish the necessary and sufficient conditions for constructing gradient Einstein-type warped metrics. One of these conditions leads us to a general Lichnerowicz equation with analytic and geometric coefficients for this class of metrics on the space of warping functions. In this way, we prove gradient estimates for positive solutions of a nonlinear elliptic differential equation on a complete Riemannian manifold with associated Bakry-Émery Ricci tensor bounded from below. As an application, we provide nonexistence and rigidity results for a large class of gradient Einstein-type warped metrics. Furthermore, we show how to construct gradient Einstein-type warped metrics, and then we give explicit examples which are not only meaningful in their own right, but also help to justify our results.

Abstract:In this paper, we study Finsler warped product metrics. We obtain the differential equations that characterize Landsberg Finsler warped product metrics. By solving these equations, we obtain the expression of these metrics. Furthermore, we construct a class of almost regular Finsler warped product metrics F with the following properties: (1) F is a Landsberg metric; (2) F is not a Berwald metric; (3) F has zero flag curvature (or Ricci curvature).

Abstract:For sequences of warped product metrics on a $3$-torus satisfying the scalar curvature bound $R_j \geq -\frac{1}{j}$, uniform upper volume and diameter bounds, and a uniform lower area bound on the smallest minimal surface, we find a subsequence which converges in both the Gromov-Hausdorff and the Sormani-Wenger Intrinsic Flat sense to a flat $3$-torus.

Abstract:The Weyl curvature is one of the most fundamental quantities in projective Finsler geometry. In this paper, we study a class of Finsler warped product metrics with quadratic Weyl curvature. We give necessary and sufficient conditions of such metrics to be of quadratic Weyl curvature which are non -trivial in the sense that these metrics are not of Weyl type, refining a theorem due to Gabrani-Sevim-Shen. As its application, we construct infinitely many new non -trivial W -quadratic Finsler warped product metrics. In particular, we find non -trivial W -quadratic Finsler metrics which are not Douglas type.

Abstract:International Journal of Geometric Methods in Modern Physics, Ahead of Print. This paper investigates the impact of the semiconformal curvature tensor's symmetry on the base and fiber manifolds of a warped product manifold. It establishes that the fiber manifold of a warped product manifold has a constant sectional curvature, whereas the base manifold is semiconformally symmetric. Furthermore, the paper derives the specific forms of the semiconformal curvature tensor for both the base and fiber manifolds. Also, it is demonstrated that a semiconformally symmetric (flat) GRW space-time is a perfect fluid space-time and exhibits an irrotational velocity vector field.
