Abstract:Jasmonates (JAs) are important phytohormones that regulate a wide range of plant processes including growth, development, senescence, and defense. Jasmonate ZIM-domain (JAZ) proteins are repressors in JA signaling. In Arabidopsis thaliana, 12 JAZ encoding genes were identified, but only a few have been studied in detail. In this study, we focused on characterizing the molecular networks involving JAZ2 and JAZ7. To understand the phenotypes and elucidate the regulatory functions of JAZ2 and JAZ7, shoot and root tissues from wild type (WT), jaz2, and jaz7 were harvested for RNA sequencing and metabolomics. Distinct changes of transcripts and metabolites in JA biosynthesis, primary and specialized metabolism, and oxidative stress were observed among the three genotypes. In particular, many defense or stress-associated metabolites and specialized metabolites were increased in response to methyl jasmonate (MeJA) treatment. Most importantly, these changes were subjected to quantitative modulation by the JAZ proteins at both transcriptional and metabolic levels, the degree of which may control resource allocation between growth and defense. This study not only reveals MeJA-induced molecular reprogramming but also demonstrates the functions of JAZ proteins as key regulators in fine-tuning JA signal transduction.

Abstract:Jasmonate (JA) is important molecule in inducing plant defense response. JA is a key component in systemin signalling, and plays an essential role in long-distance wound signalling. JA also exerts indirect role in plant defense response independently or with other phytohormones by regulating the biosynthesis of secondary metabolite ——glucosinolate, which is closely related to plant defense response. This review summarizes recent studies in unraveling the role of JA in plant defense response, and highlights the prospective of future research in this area.
The Arabidopsis P450 Protein Cyp82c2 Modulates Jasmonate-Induced Root Growth Inhibition, Defense Gene Expression and Indole Glucosinolate Biosynthesis

Abstract:Jasmonic acid (JA) is a fatty acid-derived signaling molecule that regulates a broad range of plant defense responses against herbivores and some microbial pathogens. Molecular genetic studies have established that JA also performs a critical role in several aspects of plant development. Here, we describe the characterization of the Arabidopsis mutant jasmonic acid-hypersensitive1-1 (jah1-1), which is defective in several aspects of JA responses. Although the mutant exhibits increased sensitivity to JA in root growth inhibition, it shows decreased expression of JA-inducible defense genes and reduced resistance to the necrotrophic fungus Botrytis cinerea. Gene cloning studies indicate that these defects are caused by a mutation in the cytochrome P450 protein CYP82C2. We provide evidence showing that the compromised resistance of the jah1-1 mutant to B. cinerea is accompanied by decreased expression of JA-induced defense genes and reduced accumulation of JA-induced indole glucosinolates (IGs). Conversely, the enhanced resistance to B. cinerea in CYP82C2-overexpressing plants is accompanied by increased expression of JA-induced defense genes and elevated levels of JA-induced IGs. We demonstrate that CYP82C2 affects JA-induced accumulation of the IG biosynthetic precursor tryptophan (Trp), but not the JA-induced IAA or pathogen-induced camalexin. Together, our results support a hypothesis that CYP82C2 may act in the metabolism of Trp-derived secondary metabolites under conditions in which JA levels are elevated. The jah1-1 mutant should thus be important in future studies toward understanding the mechanisms underlying the complexity of JA-mediated differential responses, which are important for plants to adapt their growth to the ever-changing environments.
Transcriptional Mechanism of Jasmonate Receptor Coi1-Mediated Delay of Flowering Time in Arabidopsis

Abstract:Flowering time of plants must be tightly regulated to maximize reproductive success. Plants have evolved sophisticated signaling network to coordinate the timing of flowering in response to their ever-changing environmental conditions. Besides being a key immune signal, the lipid-derived plant hormone jasmonate (JA) also regulates a wide range of developmental processes including flowering time. Here, we report that the CORONATINE INSENSITIVE1 (COI1)-dependent signaling pathway delays the flowering time of Arabidopsis thaliana by inhibiting the expression of the florigen gene FLOWERING LOCUS T (FT). We provide genetic and biochemical evidence that the APETALA2 transcription factors (TFs) TARGET OF EAT1 (TOE1) and TOE2 interact with a subset of JAZ (jasmonate-ZIM domain) proteins and repress the transcription of FT. Our results support a scenario that, when plants encounter stress conditions, bioactive JA promotes COI1-dependent degradation of JAZs. Degradation of the JAZ repressors liberates the transcriptional function of the TOEs to repress the expression of FT and thereby triggers the signaling cascades to delay flowering. Our study identified interacting pairs of TF and JAZ transcriptional regulators that underlie JA-mediated regulation of flowering, suggesting that JA signals are converted into specific context-dependent responses by matching pairs of TF and JAZ proteins.
ZEITLUPE in the Roots of Wild Tobacco Regulates Jasmonate-Mediated Nicotine Biosynthesis and Resistance to a Generalist Herbivore.

Abstract:The jasmonate (JA) phytohormone signaling system is an important mediator of plant defense against herbivores. Plants deficient in JA signaling are more susceptible to herbivory as a result of deficiencies in defensive trait expression. Recent studies have implicated the circadian clock in regulating JA-mediated defenses, but the molecular mechanisms linking the clock to JA signaling are unclear. Here, we report that wild tobacco (Nicotiana attenuata) plants rendered deficient in the clock component ZEITLUPE (ZTL) by RNA interference have attenuated resistance to the generalist herbivore Spodoptera littoralis This effect can be attributed in part to reduced concentrations of nicotine, an abundant JA-regulated toxin produced in N. attenuata roots and transported to shoots. RNA interference targeting ZTL dramatically affects the root circadian clock and reduces the expression of nicotine biosynthetic genes. Protein-protein interaction experiments demonstrate that ZTL regulates JA signaling by directly interacting with JASMONATE ZIM domain (JAZ) proteins in a CORONATINE-INSENSITIVE1- and jasmonoyl-isoleucine conjugate-independent manner, thereby regulating a JAZ-MYC2 module that is required for nicotine biosynthesis. Our study reveals new functions for ZTL and proposes a mechanism by which a clock component directly influences JA signaling to regulate plant defense against herbivory.
Flower-Specific Jasmonate Signaling Regulates Constitutive Floral Defenses In Wild Tobacco

Abstract:Optimal defense (OD) theory predicts that within a plant, tissues are defended in proportion to their fitness value and risk of predation. The fitness value of leaves varies greatly and leaves are protected by jasmonate (JA)-inducible defenses. Flowers are vehicles of Darwinian fitness in flowering plants and are attacked by herbivores and pathogens, but how they are defended is rarely investigated. We used Nicotiana attenuata, an ecological model plant with well-characterized herbivore interactions to characterize defense responses in flowers. Early floral stages constitutively accumulate greater amounts of two well-characterized defensive compounds, the volatile (E)-alpha-bergamotene and trypsin proteinase inhibitors (TPIs), which are also found in herbivore-induced leaves. Plants rendered deficient in JA biosynthesis or perception by RNA interference had significantly attenuated floral accumulations of defensive compounds known to be regulated by JA in leaves. By RNA-seq, we found a JAZ gene, NaJAZi, specifically expressed in early-stage floral tissues. Gene silencing revealed that NaJAZi functions as a flower-specific jasmonate repressor that regulates JAs, (E)-alpha-bergamotene, TPIs, and a defensin. Flowers silenced in NaJAZi are more resistant to tobacco budworm attack, a florivore. When the defensin was ectopically expressed in leaves, performance of Manduca sexta larvae, a folivore, decreased. NaJAZi physically interacts with a newly identified NINJA-like protein, but not the canonical NINJA. This NINJA-like recruits the corepressor TOPLESS that contributes to the suppressive function of NaJAZi on floral defenses. This study uncovers the defensive function of JA signaling in flowers, which includes components that tailor JA signaling to provide flower-specific defense.

Abstract:Tea plants have to adapt to frequently challenging environments due to their sessile lifestyle and perennial evergreen nature. Jasmonates regulate not only tea plants’ responses to biotic stresses, including herbivore attack and pathogen infection, but also tolerance to abiotic stresses, such as extreme weather conditions and osmotic stress. In this review, we summarize recent progress about jasmonaic acid (JA) biosynthesis and signaling pathways, as well as the underlying mechanisms mediated by jasmontes in tea plants in responses to biotic stresses and abiotic stresses. This review provides a reference for future research on the JA signaling pathway in terms of its regulation against various stresses of tea plants. Due to the lack of a genetic transformation system, the JA pathway of tea plants is still in the preliminary stages. It is necessary to perform further efforts to identify new components involved in the JA regulatory pathway through the combination of genetic and biochemical methods.

Abstract:Herbivorous insects represent one of the major threats to sessile plants. To cope with herbivore challenges, plants have evolved sophisticated defense systems, in which the lipid-derived phytohormone jasmonate plays a crucial role. Perception of insect attack locally and systemically elicits rapid synthesis of jasmonate, which is perceived by the F-box protein COI1 to further recruit JAZ repressors for ubiquitination and degradation, thereby releasing transcription factors that subsequently activate plant defense against insect attack. Here, we review recent progress in understanding the molecular basis of jasmonate action in plant defense against insects.
Bhlh19 and Bhlh20 Repress Jasmonate-Mediated Plant Defense Against Insect Herbivores in Arabidopsis.

Abstract:Plants are attacked by various insect herbivores. Upon attack-triggered biosynthesis of the phytohormone jasmonates (JAs), the JA receptor CORONATINE INSENSITIVE 1 recruits the JA-ZIM domain (JAZ) repressors for ubiquitination, releases the MYC-MYB transcription factor (TF) complexes, and enhances glucosinolates (GSs) biosynthesis to promote defense against insects in Arabidopsis. However, the negative regulation of JA-regulated defense remains largely unclear. Here, we found that Arabidopsis IVa bHLH TFs bHLH19 and bHLH20 interacted with JAZs. The bhlh19/20 mutations enhanced defense against the insects Spodoptera frugiperda and S. exigua, while their overexpression inhibited defense. bHLH19/20 repressed defense via at least two layers of regulation: first, bHLH19/20 interacted with the members MYC2/3/4/5 and MYB34/51/122 of MYC-MYB complexes, and inhibited the interaction/transcription activity of MYC2-MYB34; second, bHLH19/20 activated the RNA level of nitrile-specifier protein 1, which converts GSs into the less toxic nitriles. bhlh19/20 exhibited no penalty in JA-regulated growth inhibition. Collectively, our findings reveal the molecular mechanism for negatively regulating JA-mediated defense against insects in Arabidopsis without growth penalty by the pair of bHLH19/20 TFs.

Abstract:Plants have evolved sophisticated systems for adaptation to their natural habitat. In response to developmental and environmental cues, plants produce and perceive jasmonate (JA) signals, which induce degradation of JASMONATE-ZIM-Domain (JAZ) proteins and derepress the JAZ-repressed transcription factors to regulate diverse aspects of defense responses and developmental processes. Here, we identified the bHLH subgroup IIId transcription factors (bHLH3, bHLH13, bHLH14 and bHLH17) as novel targets of JAZs. These bHLH subgroup IIId transcription factors act as transcription repressors and function redundantly to negatively regulate JA responses. The quadruple mutant bhlh3 bhlh13 bhlh14 bhlh17 showed severe sensitivity to JA-inhibited root growth and JA-induced anthocyanin accumulation, and exhibited obvious increase in JA-regulated plant defense against pathogen infection and insect attack. Transgenic plants overexpressing bHLH13 or bHLH17 displayed reduced JA responses. Furthermore, these bHLH factors functioned as transcription repressors to antagonize the transcription activators, such as MYC2 and the WD-repeat/bHLH/MYB complex, through binding to their target sequences. Coordinated regulation of JA responses by transcription activators and repressors would benefit plants by allowing fine regulation of defense and development, and survival in their frequently changing environment.
CwJAZ4/9 negatively regulates jasmonate‐mediated biosynthesis of terpenoids through interacting with CwMYC2 and confers salt tolerance in Curcuma wenyujin

Abstract:Plant JASMONATE ZIM‐DOMAIN (JAZ) genes play crucial roles in regulating the biosynthesis of specialized metabolites and stressful responses. However, understanding of JAZs controlling these biological processes lags due to numerous JAZ copies. Here, we found that two leaf‐specific CwJAZ4/9 genes from Curcuma wenyujin are strongly induced by methyl‐jasmonate (MeJA) and negatively correlated with terpenoid biosynthesis. Yeast two‐hybrid, luciferase complementation imaging and in vitro pull‐down assays confirmed that CwJAZ4/9 proteins interact with CwMYC2 to form the CwJAZ4/9‐CwMYC2 regulatory cascade. Furthermore, transgenic hairy roots showed that CwJAZ4/9 acts as repressors of MeJA‐induced terpenoid biosynthesis by inhibiting the terpenoid pathway and jasmonate response, thus reducing terpenoid accumulation. In addition, we revealed that CwJAZ4/9 decreases salt sensitivity and sustains the growth of hairy roots under salt stress by suppressing the salt‐mediated jasmonate responses. Transcriptome analysis for MeJA‐mediated transgenic hairy root lines further confirmed that CwJAZ4/9 negatively regulates the terpenoid pathway genes and massively alters the expression of genes related to salt stress signaling and responses, and crosstalks of multiple phytohormones. Altogether, our results establish a genetic framework to understand how CwJAZ4/9 inhibits terpenoid biosynthesis and confers salt tolerance, which provides a potential strategy for producing high‐value pharmaceutical terpenoids and improving resistant C. wenyujin varieties by a genetic approach.

Abstract:Jasmonates (JAs) mediate plant responses to insect attack, wounding, pathogen infection, stress, and UV damage and regulate plant fertility, anthocyanin accumulation, trichome formation, and many other plant developmental processes. Arabidopsis thaliana Jasmonate ZIM-domain (JAZ) proteins, substrates of the CORONATINE INSENSITIVE1 (COI1)-based SCF(COI1) complex, negatively regulate these plant responses. Little is known about the molecular mechanism for JA regulation of anthocyanin accumulation and trichome initiation. In this study, we revealed that JAZ proteins interact with bHLH (Transparent Testa8, Glabra3 [GL3], and Enhancer of Glabra3 [EGL3]) and R2R3 MYB transcription factors (MYB75 and Glabra1), essential components of WD-repeat/bHLH/MYB transcriptional complexes, to repress JA-regulated anthocyanin accumulation and trichome initiation. Genetic and physiological evidence showed that JA regulates WD-repeat/bHLH/MYB complex-mediated anthocyanin accumulation and trichome initiation in a COI1-dependent manner. Overexpression of the MYB transcription factor MYB75 and bHLH factors (GL3 and EGL3) restored anthocyanin accumulation and trichome initiation in the coi1 mutant, respectively. We speculate that the JA-induced degradation of JAZ proteins abolishes the interactions of JAZ proteins with bHLH and MYB factors, allowing the transcriptional function of WD-repeat/bHLH/MYB complexes, which subsequently activate respective downstream signal cascades to modulate anthocyanin accumulation and trichome initiation.

Abstract:Jasmonates (JAs) regulate plant growth and defense responses. On perception of bioactive JAs, the JA receptor CORONATINE INSENSITIVE1 (COI1) recruits JA ZIM-domain (JAZ) proteins for degradation, and JAZ-targeted transcription factors are released to regulate JA responses. The subgroup IIId bHLH transcriptional factors, including bHLH17, bHLH13, bHLH3, and bHLH14, interact with JAZs and repress JA responses. In this study, we show that IIId bHLH factors form dimers via the C-terminus in yeast. N-terminus of bHLH13 is essential for its transcriptional repression function. bHLH13 overexpression inhibits Arabidopsis resistance to the necrotrophic fungi Botrytis cinerea and defense against the insect Spodoptera exigua. COI1 mutation disrupts the oversensitivity of the quadruple mutant bhlh3 bhlh13 bhlh14 bhlh17 in various JA responses, including anthocyanin accumulation, root growth inhibition, and defense against B cinerea and S exigua. Disruption of the TTG1/bHLH/MYB complex blocks anthocyanin accumulation of bhlh3 bhlh13 bhlh14 bhlh17, whereas abolishment of MYC2 attenuates JA-inhibitory root growth of bhlh3 bhlh13 bhlh14 bhlh17. These results genetically demonstrate that IIId bHLH factors function downstream of COI1 to inhibit distinctive JA responses via antagonizing different transcriptional activators.

A molecular framework for signaling crosstalk between jasmonate and ethylene in anthocyanin biosynthesis, trichome development, and defenses against insect herbivores in Arabidopsis

Abstract:The phytohormones ethylene (ET) and jasmonate (JA) regulate plant development, growth, and defense responses; however, the molecular basis for their signaling crosstalk is unclear. Here, we show that JA-ZIM-domain (JAZ) proteins, which repress JA signaling, repress trichome initiation/branching and anthocyanin accumulation, and inhibit the transcriptional activity of the basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH)-MYB members (GLABRA3 (GL3)-GL1 and TRANSPARENT TESTA 8 (TT8)-MYB75) of WD-repeat/bHLH/MYB (WBM) complexes. The ET-stabilized transcription factors ETHYLENE-INSENSITIVE3 (EIN3) and EIN3-LIKE1 (EIL1) were found to bind to several members of WBM complexes, including GL3, ENHANCER OF GLABRA3 (EGL3), TT8, GL1, MYB75, and TRANSPARENT TESTA GLABRA1 (TTG1). This binding repressed the transcriptional activity of the bHLH-MYB proteins and inhibited anthocyanin accumulation, trichome formation, and defenses against insect herbivores while promoting root hair formation. Conversely, the JA-activated bHLH members GL3, EGL3, and TT8 of WBM complexes were able to interact with and attenuate the transcriptional activity of EIN3/EIL1 at the HOOKLESS1 promoter, and their overexpression inhibited apical hook formation. Thus, this study demonstrates a molecular framework for signaling crosstalk between JA and ET in plant development, secondary metabolism, and defense responses.

Abstract:Plants evolve effective mechanisms to protect themselves from environmental stresses and employ jasmonates as vital defense signals to defend against insect attack and pathogen infection. Jasmonates are also recognized as an essential growth regulator by which diverse developmental processes are mediated. Despite substantial research, there are no key signaling components reported yet to control jasmonate-regulated plant defense independent of developmental responses. We identify JAV1, a key gene in the jasmonate pathway, which functions as a negative regulator to control plant defense but does not play a detectable role in plant development. Our results suggest that when encountering insect attack and pathogen infection, plants accumulate jasmonates that trigger JAV1 degradation via the 26S proteasome to activate defensive gene expression and elevate resistances against both insects and pathogens. These findings have provided insight into the molecular mechanism by which plants integrate jasmonate signals to protect themselves from insect attack and pathogen infection.

In recent years, significant progress has been made toward understanding the JA signaling pathway. In this review, we discuss JA biosynthesis, as well as its core signaling pathway, termination mechanisms, and the evolutionary origin of JA signaling. JA regulates not only plant regeneration, reproductive growth, and vegetative growth but also the responses of plants to stresses, including pathogen as well as virus infection, herbivore attack, and abiotic stresses. We also focus on the JA signaling pathway, considering its crosstalk with the gibberellin (GA), auxin, and phytochrome signaling pathways for mediation of the trade-offs between growth and defense. In summary, JA signals regulate multiple outputs of plant defense and growth and act to balance growth and defense in order to adapt to complex environments.

Abstract:Jasmonic acid (JA) and methyl jasmonate (MeJA), the crucial plant hormones, can induce the emission of plant volatiles and regulate the behavioral responses of insect pests or their natural enemies. In this study, two jasmonic acid carboxyl methyltransferases (JMTs), GhJMT1 and GhJMT2, involved in MeJA biosynthesis in Gossypium. hirsutum were identified and further functionally confirmed. In vitro , recombinant GhJMT1 and GhJMT2 were both responsible for the conversion of JA to MeJA. Quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) measurement indicated that GhJMT1 and GhJMT2 were obviously up-regulated in leaves and stems of G. hirsutum after being treated with MeJA. In gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis, MeJA treatment significantly induced plant volatiles emission such as ( E )-β-ocimene, ( Z )-3-hexenyl acetate, linalool and (3 E )-4,8-dimethyl-1,3,7-nonatriene (DMNT), which play vital roles in direct and indirect plant defenses. Moreover, antennae of parasitoid wasps Microplitis mediator showed electrophysiological responses to MeJA, β-ocimene, (Z) -3-hexenyl acetate and linalool at a dose dependent manner, while our previous research revealed that DMNT excites electrophysiological responses and behavioral tendencies. These findings provide a better understanding of MeJA biosynthesis and defense regulation in upland cotton, which lay a foundation to JA and MeJA employment in agricultural pest control.

Abstract:Abstract Jasmonate (JA) signaling regulates plant growth and development, biotic and abiotic stress tolerance, and primary and secondary metabolism biosynthesis. It is extensively modulated by JA-ZIM-domain (JAZ) family genes. In previous work, we obtained nine SmJAZ genes of Salvia miltiorrhiza and proved that SmJAZ8 was the core repressor of JA-induced tanshinone and phenolic acid biosynthesis. Here, we demonstrate that SmJAZ3 and SmJAZ4 act as repressors of JA-induced biosynthesis of tanshinones and salvianolic acid B (Sal B). This suggests that SmJAZ3/4 are functionally redundant in tanshinone and Sal B biosynthesis. SmJAZ1/2/5/6/9 are activators of JA-induced tanshinone biosynthesis and repressors of JA-induced Sal B biosynthesis. This demonstrates the redundancy and diversity of SmJAZ1/2/5/6/9 functions. Besides, SmJAZ10 inhibited JA-induced Sal B synthesis, but had no effect on the synthesis of tanshinone. Two-hybrid screening (Y2H) showed that SmJAZs formed homologous or heterogeneous dimers. Y2H and firefly luciferase complementation imaging (LCI) assays revealed that SmJAZs also formed a complex regulatory network with SmMYC2a, SmMYC2b, SmMYB39, and SmPAP1. Quantitative reverse transcription-PCR (qRT-PCR) indicated that SmJAZs regulated each other at the transcriptional level. Herein, we prove that SmJAZs have functional pleiotropism, diversity, and redundancy in JA-induced tanshinone and phenolic acid biosynthesis. This study provides an important clue for further understanding the inherent biological significance and molecular mechanisms of the JAZ family as the gene number increases during plant evolution.

Abstract:▪ Abstract Jasmonic acid and its derivatives can modulate aspects of fruit ripening, production of viable pollen, root growth, tendril coiling, and plant resistance to insects and pathogens. Jasmonate activates genes involved in pathogen and insect resistance, and genes encoding vegetative storage proteins, but represses genes encoding proteins involved in photosynthesis. Jasmonic acid is derived from linolenic acid, and most of the enzymes in the biosynthetic pathway have been extensively characterized. Modulation of lipoxygenase and allene oxide synthase gene expression in transgenic plants raises new questions about the compartmentation of the biosynthetic pathway and its regulation. The activation of jasmonic acid biosynthesis by cell wall elicitors, the peptide systemin, and other compounds will be related to the function of jasmonates in plants. Jasmonate modulates gene expression at the level of translation, RNA processing, and transcription. Promoter elements that mediate responses to jasmonate have been isolated. This review covers recent advances in our understanding of how jasmonate biosynthesis is regulated and relates this information to knowledge of jasmonate modulated gene expression.

Genome-Wide Identification, Characterization and Expression Analysis of the JAZ Gene Family in Resistance to Gray Leaf Spots in Tomato

Abstract:The plant disease resistance system involves a very complex regulatory network in which jasmonates play a key role in response to external biotic or abiotic stresses. As inhibitors of the jasmonic acid (JA) signaling pathway, JASMONATE ZIM domain (JAZ) proteins have been identified in many plant species, and their functions are gradually being clarified. In this study, 26 JAZ genes were identified in tomato. The physical and chemical properties, predicted subcellular localization, gene structure, cis-acting elements, and interspecies collinearity of 26 SlJAZ genes were subsequently analyzed. RNA-seq data combined with qRT-PCR analysis data showed that the expression of most SlJAZ genes were induced in response to Stemphylium lycopersici, methyl jasmonate (MeJA) and salicylic acid (SA). Tobacco rattle virus RNA2-based VIGS vector (TRV2)-SlJAZ25 plants were more resistant to tomato gray leaf spots than TRV2-00 plants. Therefore, we speculated that SlJAZ25 played a negative regulatory role in tomato resistance to gray leaf spots. Based on combining the results of previous studies and those of our experiments, we speculated that SlJAZ25 might be closely related to JA and SA hormone regulation. SlJAZ25 interacted with SlJAR1, SlCOI1, SlMYC2, and other resistance-related genes to form a regulatory network, and these genes played an important role in the regulation of tomato gray leaf spots. The subcellular localization results showed that the SlJAZ25 gene was located in the nucleus. Overall, this study is the first to identify and analyze JAZ family genes in tomato via bioinformatics approaches, clarifying the regulatory role of SlJAZ25 genes in tomato resistance to gray leaf spots and providing new ideas for improving plant disease resistance.
