What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is how to design and synthesize conjugated coordination polymers (CCPs) with high capacity and cycle stability through the rational selection of metal ions, in order to improve the performance of sodium - ion batteries (SIBs). Specifically, the author selected 2,5 - dihydroxy - 1,4 - benzoquinone (H₂DHBQ) as a ligand to form one - dimensional conjugated coordination polymers (M - DHBQ) with different metal ions (Ni²⁺, Mn²⁺, and Zn²⁺), and studied the influence of different metal ions on the material structure and electrochemical properties through comprehensive characterization and electrochemical tests. ### Main problems: 1. **Rational design and controllable synthesis of CCPs**: How to achieve the efficient synthesis of CCPs by selecting appropriate metal ions and understand the relationship between their structure and electrochemical properties. 2. **Improve the performance of sodium - ion batteries**: Improve the capacity and cycle stability of sodium - ion batteries by optimizing the structure of CCPs, especially the selection of metal ions. ### Specific objectives: - **Synthesize CCPs of different metal ions**: Three materials, Ni - DHBQ, Mn - DHBQ, and Zn - DHBQ, were synthesized by the hydrothermal method. - **Characterize the structure and properties of materials**: The morphology, crystal structure, and chemical composition of these materials were characterized in detail using SEM, XRD, FTIR, XPS, etc. - **Evaluate electrochemical performance**: The electrochemical performance of these materials in sodium - ion batteries was systematically evaluated through cyclic voltammetry (CV), galvanostatic charge - discharge tests, and rate performance tests. - **Reveal the charge storage mechanism**: The influence of different metal ions on the charge storage mechanism was deeply explored through in - situ FT - IR, XPS, and EPR spectroscopic techniques. ### Key findings: - **High capacity and excellent rate performance of Ni - DHBQ**: Ni - DHBQ has a reversible capacity of approximately 302.3 mAh g⁻¹ after 150 cycles at a current density of 0.1 A g⁻¹; at a high current density of 2 A g⁻¹, the capacity still remains at approximately 267 mAh g⁻¹. - **Electrochemical reaction mechanisms of Mn - DHBQ and Zn - DHBQ**: The sodium storage processes of these two materials mainly involve the redox reaction of the ligand, while Ni - DHBQ also involves the redox reaction of Ni²⁺ ions. - **Influence of metal ion selection on performance**: The high capacity and excellent rate performance of Ni - DHBQ are attributed to the synergistic effect of the ligand and metal ions, while the performance of Mn - DHBQ and Zn - DHBQ is relatively low because they only involve the redox reaction of the ligand. Through these studies, the author emphasizes the importance of rational selection of metal ions in designing high - performance sodium - ion battery materials and provides a theoretical basis for the future development of more efficient energy storage devices.
